Why Do the Police Have Tanks? The Strange and Dangerous Militarization of the US Police Force
That law is for when people aren't home, genius. It is called a sneak and peek warrant. The idea being that it lets them see what you have *without* kicking down your door and storming the place because such warrants carry risks.
A city on the East coast recently passed a law saying that if there is a suspect on the loose, the police can go door to door searching for him without the home owner's consent.
Um, what?
So if the FBI were unarmed they would still not be lacking heavier weaponry?
Is this real life?

Your contention is even if those vehicles did not possess their weapon systems, they still count as heavy weaponry??
Without their weapon systems they are little more than moving chunks of steel to protect the occupants, I don't see how this is heavy weaponry when there is no weaponry to be used.
Let me clarify.
Regardless of whether or not their tanks were armed, making the claim that the FBI was lacking heavy weaponry is ridiculous.
Even then, those tanks had the potential to level the compound simply driving through some of the walls, which they did to some of the buildings.
Some cities definitely need more militarized police forces to deal with gang violence. Some of these gangs are very powerful and it's important to have a force that can effectively deal with them.
It's easy to focus on the screw-ups that happen due to police incompetence. Nobody's perfect. Sometimes idiots are put in charge and bad things are going to happen. But these same forces also do a lot of good work. The fact that these stories are so few and far between is a good thing.

Which makes all the more sense in the case of Detroit. :v:
Whats new. I'd rather be safe than sorry in the first place. Has anybody been to Detroit? Most parts are extremely dangerous.
So you're okay with little kids getting shot in the throat if it means you're safe. Good job being terrible!

Yes, lets dwell on this once accident out of many successful missions, meanwhile innocent people are constantly terrorised by gang violence because a few guys aren't wearing the same colour shirt.
how about we attempt to stop gangs from forming rather than killing people in vain
how about we attempt to stop gangs from forming rather than killing people in vain
They've been trying to do that for decades.
how about we attempt to stop gangs from forming rather than killing people in vain
Gangs aren't bacteria, we can't just spray anti-gang agents all over the streets and watch the crime rate drop.

Be nice if we could.
Wow. The last 4 posts...I just had the weirdest sense of deja vu.
Bizarre.

Yes, let's, because that kind of shit is why people in those areas don't trust the police. We can do better than that.
