Liberal's view of a biased opinion piece: "I don't like Obama, here's why." Conservative's view of a biased opinion piece: "Gay guy beaten to death under bridge"
This is a dumb flame hidden as a post, generalizing conservatives and sensationalizing stereotypes. [editline]9th August 2011[/editline]
One thing that bothers me on this thread is how intolerant people are over someone's political views. If you disagree with someone, then back your views up with facts, rather than condescending bullshit. Just my two cents.
And in reality, this is the smartest post in the entire thread. [editline]9th August 2011[/editline]
Oh I agree, he is absolutely spineless. I think he continues to try to work with the Republicans when he should really be forming an entire division in the FBI to specifically investigate members of congress and bring them up on treason charges if they are found to be corrupt in any capacity. Politicians remain my sole exception to stance on capital punishment. If they accept bribe money, they should die. The lives of millions of people ride on their every decision. Not just in the United States, but across the world. The suffering they can cause with a simple vote is without equal.
"I agree that it is OK to kill human beings." You must accept this idea if you ever want to implement the death penalty.
"I agree that it is OK to kill human beings." You must accept this idea if you ever want to implement the death penalty.
Well of course it is, very few people, except a few rare monks, disagree with that.
And in reality, this is the smartest post in the entire thread.
no it's not
zombie ayn rand
Libertarian wet dream
Why the disagrees? There are plenty of conceivable situations where is killing is justified.
Why the disagrees? There are plenty of conceivable situations where is killing is justified.
It's not okay, but rather an unfortunate circumstance. Denying someone life isn't cool
It's not okay, but rather an unfortunate circumstance. Denying someone life isn't cool
In the situation before, I don't think it's justifiable, but self-defense, protection of others and so on. [editline]9th August 2011[/editline] Certainly not the death penalty either.
I'm not going to deny that people want to kill people, because people do want to kill people. However it is definitely not 'okay', but occurs due to unfortunate circumstances
purge this thread
I'm not going to deny that people want to kill people, because people do want to kill people. However it is definitely not 'okay', but occurs due to unfortunate circumstances
Well, it's not okay as in it's not a good thing, and in a utopian society it wouldn't happen, but it can certainly be justified.
Well, it's not okay as in it's not a good thing, and in a utopian society it wouldn't happen, but it can certainly be justified.
It can be justified, but that is a sliding scale of subjectivity. It depends person to person
Why the disagrees? There are plenty of conceivable situations where is killing is justified.
Yeah like one, in self defence in the most extreme sort.
Yeah like one, in self defence in the most extreme sort.
Self defense and war are the only two. I was talking about in terms of the death penalty.
Yeah like one, in self defence in the most extreme sort.
What about the defense of others? Assisted suicide?
How is this news ?
And in reality, this is the smartest post in the entire thread.
But that post was followed by pages and pages of condescending bullshit... so, no.
Don't worry guys, we have the Tea Party to save us!
But that post was followed by pages and pages of condescending bullshit... so, no.
ignore everything before and after was it a smart post
ignore everything before and after was it a smart post
Yes, it's wrong to be intolerant of others views.
ignore everything before and after was it a smart post
No, because if all effective government needed was facts, then we wouldn't have such problems. Interpretation of facts is the issue.
CONTROVERSY
Yes, it's wrong to be intolerant of others views.
what about religion, that's a view
Yes, it's wrong to be intolerant of others views.
Unless they're wrong.
CONTROVERSY what about religion, that's a view
There's a difference between saying "I think that's wrong and I don't agree because I see no logical basis to that" and "FUCK YOU AND YOUR STUPID VIEWS"
There's a difference between saying "I think that's wrong and I don't agree because I see no logical basis to that" and "FUCK YOU AND YOUR STUPID VIEWS"
but can you ACCEPT it not AGREE with it ACCEPT it
but can you ACCEPT it not AGREE with it ACCEPT it
Uh, what's the difference? If I accept the view, I accept the view is accurate or that it exists? If I agree with it I agree it's correct? Because I can accept a stupid view exists, but its still stupid. It's annoying how you act like I, and perhaps others, don't entertain your views long enough to just accept them(Note, it has nothing to do with how long I entertain your views for) and that somehow makes us wrong.
but can you ACCEPT it not AGREE with it ACCEPT it
Obviously you have to entertain an idea long enough to recognize it as utterly idiotic.
Uh, what's the difference? If I accept the view, I accept the view is accurate or that it exists? If I agree with it I agree it's correct? Because I can accept a stupid view exists, but its still stupid.
it's the difference between "i believe something different to you but that's ok" and 'i believe something different to you and i'm right and you're wrong and stupid and i'm going to go out of my way to persecute you for your belief" in lieu of beating around the bush can you accept that someone has the right to hold a different view to you without being persecuted for it e: for example i'm not a muslim. i don't believe in what muslims believe. but i can accept their right to that belief, and don't feel the urge to abuse them for it every time.
it's the difference between "i believe something different to you but that's ok" and 'i believe something different to you and i'm right and you're wrong and stupid and i'm going to go out of my way to persecute you for your belief" in lieu of beating around the bush can you accept that someone has the right to hold a different view to you without being persecuted for it
When the FUCK did I ever say you couldn't hold a different view? Oh, wait, that's totally right, I HAVE NEVER SAID THAT. Only an intolerable idiot would believe that. I don't believe in constructing peoples social views by punishing them for having those views, why you think I do is simply you having a right wing persecution complex. I disagree with you, with faith, with most right wing politics and politicians, I accept they exist and they're fine to go on believing what ever the fuck they like to, I won't stop them like you're implying. That's insulting and fucking low. Anyone can believe anything, if I judge it on rational or logical basis and find it stupid, why am I not able to say that? Why should I accept it without logical contest? is this how you want to run things? And for your example, no, I don't think violence is an okay way to deal with it and I don't think attacking someone for beliefs is right either. You can be a pedofile and I still won't do that, unless, like anyone with any dangerous view, you harmed someone, in which case, something has to be done.

Do you feel the need to start an argument with me over simply diverging views? I've long since accepted others views and their rights to hold them, if you're so eager to contest that with me, maybe you're the one with that issue?
