Having a personal opinion doesn't make you bias.
Writing about it and passing it off as news does. That's what Ridge is doing by posting blogs here.
Right, I'm saying that the difference between things like TheYoungTurks and this is that this is just openly stated things that aren't true as fact (Obama is a Marxist/Far-Left Ideologue, Americans are mostly Conservative, etc.), whereas TYT tells you something that happens, then tells you what they think of it or what may follow it.
I biased article is different than an opinion piece
This is basically what I'm saying.

And I agree with you. My point was that if anyone posted TYT as a news source I'd get equally pissed off.
i like how all the far-right posters on fp are winner'ing this
Why is that so wrong? I've seen the far-left posters do it to left-leaning articles before.
i don't get the points on conservatism getting more powerful or whatever. i thought that most recent polls have been showing that less people trust conservatives & all that?
And I agree with you. My point was that if anyone posted TYT as a news source I'd get equally pissed off.
But see that's just it, they're still a news source, just an opinionated one. There's a difference between newscasters giving you their opinion on a story (a story that's presented in its entirety and truthfully) and skewing facts and misleading your viewers when telling a story to sway them to your point of view.
Why is that so wrong? I've seen the far-left posters do it to left-leaning articles before.
Yes, to news articles. Not to blogs. And if they do it to blogs/opinion pieces they're morons.
Why is that so wrong? I've seen the far-left posters do it to left-leaning articles before.
As a left-leaner who as done this, I can confirm.
Why is that so wrong? I've seen the far-left posters do it to left-leaning articles before.
because this article is stupid as hell and you winner it simply because you hate obama as well
Most I see is agreement for anything Republican. It's hard to see what you're respectful of with your head so far up the GOP's ass.
Being ignorant and having an opinion are two totally different things.
Yes, to news articles. Not to blogs. And if they do it to blogs/opinion pieces they're morons.
I do it to both. Even if it's not a news piece (which I agree it then doesn't belong here), I'll still rate it if I think it's right.
;31616695']As a left-leaner who as done this, I can confirm.
If something happens in favor of a Progressive issue (gay marriage, worker rights, etc.) I'll rate it winner, but rating this (an almost entirely false biased story) winner is wrong.

opinions can be ignorant...
But see that's just it, they're still a news source, just an opinionated one. No, it's different. Or rather, different ideologies on what a news source should be. A decent piece of journalism should be focusing on facts, questions, and answers from the source of what the article mentions. There are different forms of journalism, but for 'fact reporting' news compare Al Jazeera to the Drudge Report. One writes information 'as it's seen' in a logical ' this this and this happened, this person said that'. The other side says 'Did this happen because of this? Why are they doing that? Is it possible it's because of..?', most tabloids do the latter. It's leading questions, pushing you to see what they see.
Being bias doesn't mean you're skewing the facts on purpose, it's the act of seeing and reporting something based on your viewpoint and not all viewpoints.
A Communist being bias doesn't mean they're actively trying to mislead people, it just means they see things one-sided. Which is an awful trait for journalism

Again, that's what I'm saying, things like TYT are a mix of both. They tell you about something that happened (someone said something, something blew up, something happened, etc.) and then tell you what they think of it (here's why I think this happened, what's going to happen next in my opinion, etc.)
Let's just shut up on the article and discuss its content, eh?
opinions can be ignorant...
Thats.. ignorant.
8. The Tea Party has been a stunning success
No article on Barack Obama’s stunning decline would be complete without mention of the Tea Party, which has been undoubtedly the most influential US political movement of the decade. The Tea Party’s relentless rise played a key role in sparking the conservative revolution that swept Capitol Hill last November, and has played a major role in setting the agenda when it came to the heated debates over government spending this summer. Were it not for the Tea Party, it is likely that the budget deficit would not be the central issue it is today, and federal spending would have remained a largely inside the beltway debate instead of the talk of dinner tables across America. A truly grassroots movement has succeeded in a short period of time in humbling a presidency, and challenging the status quo on Capitol Hill.

Is That A Fucking Joke?
Is That A Fucking Joke?
"humbling a presidency"? Yes because Obama was out of control!
Again, that's what I'm saying, things like TYT are a mix of both. Right, I'm just saying I don't like anything that mixes both.
Hey, republicans of Facepunch - Obama is the most popular president America has ever had in most European countries' opinions. :v:
Thats.. ignorant.
wow it's just my opinion! stop being ignorant!
Why is that so wrong? I've seen the far-left posters do it to left-leaning articles before.
Because this article is ridiculous.

Not my point, deary
"humbling a presidency"? Yes because Obama was out of control!
For his first two years in office, there was a unified government. He was able to pass a lot of things that weren't too thrilling for us Republicans, to say the least.
I'd imagine a lot of Democrats felt the same way during Bush's first few years in office.
where is glaber when you need him
Thats.. ignorant.
Just stop. Go get a juice box.
Can somebody please point out all the flaws in the article and have done with it? I'm off to bed. Don't make me come back with a page long rebuttal in the morning that nobody will read.

Then Republicans went insane and said no to abso-fucking-lutely everything. Yeah, your party is fucking retarded and needs to die. Glad you follow them blindly.
Liberal's view of a biased opinion piece: "I don't like Obama, here's why."
Conservative's view of a biased opinion piece: "Gay guy beaten to death under bridge"
he rated it winner and left :(
Glaber, if you join this discussion I'll give you an e-hug, discussing stuff is fun with someone that's got a differing opinion.
"So, yeah... Obama's cool..."
"Yeah..."

Awkward silence follows.
