Oh for fucks sake. Just teach about contraceptives along side abstinence. You should always assume that most of these kids could give a rats ass about abstinence, so you should give them something else to work with.

"You mean to tell me you wanna teach my kids how to have sex? What, are you TRYING to get them pregnant? You have no right to be teaching my kid about contraceptives!"
'Then why don't you teach them?'
"...cause..."
It's not unprecedented, Governor Perry in Texas has been busy promoting the 'success' with abstinence only education in the state. Truth be told I don't think I ever had a sex-ed class in all the years I went through schooling here. They met basic state standards about STDs through a 'health' course in Middle School/ Junior High, and I can assume the lack of a genuine sex-ed was to avoid causing community debates over abstinence-only education.
This is a biased source because it's obviously against this nonsense of 'abstinence-only' education, but it gets the point across well over how politicized this issue has become, tying it closely to usual 'religion' points. The article addresses a notice sent out by a conservative pastor in the Houston area announcing a speech by the chairwoman of our State Board of Education, Barbara Cargill, who they credit with 'fighting for them' in recent battles on the summit. I made a thread here a while about the social studies revisions being overrun by these idiots. All the while complaining about 'liberal indoctrination' while doing their own.

“The Texas State Board of Education has been in the national media repeatedly in the past several years over our stand for protecting history textbooks from political correctness, teaching both strengths and weaknesses of Darwinian Evolutionary Theory, and now over the assault by allies of Planned Parenthood to undermine Abstinence Based sex education.
Hon. Barbara Cargill is now the SBOE Chairman and one of the courageous conservatives who has withstood intense attacks by anti-religious groups such as Texas Freedom Network, ACLU and others. YOU NEED TO HEAR FROM HER as to why there is such a battle for control over Texas education and what we need to do this year!”[/quote]
As you can see from the Planned Parenthood reference, which is a very common bogeyman for conservatives, teaching abstinence-only is a way to further their fight against contraception, abortion, etc. which helps with rallying a political base in the first place.
"...What, does every ejaculation deserve a name?"
In other words;
MTV's hit show 16 and pregnant to feature a new season!
less condoms in utah means more mormon babies
more mormons means stronger church
they know what theyre doing
As a person who lives in Canada where sex ed is not an issue, the idea of teaching "abstinence only" sounds fucking criminal and destructive to me.
That's so fucking terrible, no wonder I hear so much shit about teenagers there knowing dick all about sex and getting into deep shit because of it. Jesus Christ, leave that state immediately.
