At $400 billion, Apple is worth more than the entire country of Greece
I think if Apple ever got it's own country, it be a authoritarian dictatorship.
Houses without windows, citizens only alowed to wear turtlenecks, that baby music in the Mac commercials played on every street corner, attempting to have anthing that looks a bit like a iPhone punishable by death.
Wouldn't the phone thing just say No Samsung or Android phones instead?
Also, houses without windows? Their store is covered in them, it should be Mac's Only or Die.

Nah they're just returning to that state, Like the East Indian trading company. As for Apple, that is quite impressive, though their tactics for achieving this are less than respectable you have to give them a hand.
what isn't worth more than Greece?

the brand is valuable
but brands can be very fickle
If the Olympics were a profitable source of income, they would have more money.

What if a corporation did govern a country? I think things would function much differently, probably better. I guess it would depend completely on which corporation, but I'm talking about the general make-up of a large corporation. There is a wide variety of professions and income wages. In today's Government, half of congress is made up of rich lawyers, which is a vary narrow group of people writing our books. Can you now see the potential difference between how these two would operate a government?
Just listen to what Neil deGrasse Tyson has to say:

At least Greeks are genuinely nice people
Greeks are one of the most rude people in the world.
I went to Greece with my family a few years back and when walking around Athens, all of the cabs refused to take us because we were Americans/Canadians. We had to walk all the way back to our hotel across town (with my 75 year old grandfather who is now deceased). It was a LONG walk

You get more power for less effort if you run for CEO then if you run for president. :v:

When you're a CEO you can't hear the people over the money mountain you have.

I've heard it's mainly Athens. Other cities are friendlier. But I can't voucher for that since that's what I've heard from greeks who don't live in Athens.
Greece is a small country, though its a good start for Apple sales, unless apple gets sales that topple a bigger nation its not really too much of a sucess.
The value is pretty darn volatile, though. Greece might be in the gutter, but it's not the same at all.

That's quite odd, I'm American and everyone is friendly as can be to me. Though cab drivers are generally assholes regardless of where you are in the world. Don't get me started on New York cabs...
With $100, I am worth more than Greece.

Apparently they were checking to see if they were from the US or not and then promptly apologized when they saw Canadian ID's. They were denying access to Americans.
Not really surprising. The US acts like dicks to the rest of the world, do you honestly expect the rest of the world to simply not care?
I don't see what's with other countries hating US citizens. It's completely unfair to treat visitors that way. When I run into a foreigner I always try to lend the most helpful and welcoming hand, regardless of their nationality. Can't we all just be fucking nice to one another? The human species could have done so much more if we all just stopped being this way to each other.

Yeah, in retrospect, hooking all Americans up to a singular hive-mind so they all behave in an identical fashion might've been a bad idea.
We need more hippies to counter this.

I really doubt annyone would deny acces to Americans annywhere in Europe.
Some Eastern Europe country's sometimes have problems with black people but thats more because they are naive then full blown racism.
Everything has its price.
Who is going to sell a group of people a country, and move all of the people that live there somewhere else? How do you know the surrounding countries would take in millions of now refugees?
Corporations have more power than the government. I don't even know whose side i'm on.
The government has the military to back them up, corporations have private security companies, not armies.
Now make USA pay back their debt and recalculate the actual value compared to any European country.
