EA pulls A Capcom: New Video Shows Mass Effect 3 Day-One DLC Already On Disc
Of course they did that, but they did not invent first-day DLC nor where they the first ones adapting it. And that is what annoys me the most,
because in EVERY discussion involving DLC, Capcom gets mentioned in a negative way.
So the title is "EA pulls A Capcom" how does this even makes sence? Capcom started with their bullshit DLC and also day-one DLC long after other companies (which includes EA)
So shouldn't the title be then "EA does what they do best"?
Of course not, because it's cool nowadays to hate capcom so hop on the bandwaggon and
devilize them at every possible time just to show the world, that I once have heard something about Capcom and DLC in a sentence.
"Am I involved in all this? Am I even buying Street Fighter X Tekken? No! But hey, Capcom pisses me off, because it pisses everyone else off!" herp derp
I don't care for Capcom hatred in any way. It's not in my interest to do such things.
Yet to get back to your post, I have to say there are many possible lines for a title, but the OP actually decided to use the existing title, therefore I don't want to get this derailed from the original theme of this topic and not your personal interest about Capcom.
DLC is fine, but if it's on the disk when you buy the game it should be free and already in the game, not something they try and get you to pay to unlock later.
Some people don't have access to large amounts of bandwidth, adding the content to disks is one method to avoid this, take for instance, my best friend absolutely loves the mass effect series, he grumbled to me all the way to the Local EB games when I drove him to the launch about not having the Prothean DLC because he had a standard edition, I told him the content was likely already in the files, all he would have to do is pay 10 dollars on origin to get the unlock, his response 'Oh, that's not so bad, I have a shit net connection anyway and preorder was 10 dollars off, this works out even'
I never thought people were this open about their gamer entitlement.
How is that entitlement at all? if I buy a game with my hard earned money I want to own it, not just have a license to play it.
Meh.... Me3 wasn't worth the money, nether is the dlc :X
I'm pretty sure there's a crack for Mass Effect that unlocks the DLC. Nothing more than a game crack. That means the DLC is included on the disc, period.

The funny thing is that it's legal to use it if you own the game. The dlc being unlocked could be argued as a side effect if the main purpose is to remove the need for the dvd.

Since the dawn of DRM you've been paying for a licence to play it and nothing more, the box, discs and bonus content that come with it are just purchase gimics.
Doesn't mean it's right.

You simply cannot sign a license with clicking I agree button.
EA is the new Ubisoft
good fuck you people are whiny bastards
don't like it? don't BUY IT. nobody is forcing you.
I've played ME3, still am, I still enjoy it even though yes, the endings are a tad silly, and there's day 1 dlc. but really IT DOESN'T FUCKING BOTHER ME BECAUSE GOD FORBID I DON'T GET A SQUADMATE AND A RIFLE, MAN, THAT SHIT'S TOTALLY OVER THE LIMIT.
and for you ninnies that'll say OH BUT SAZA IT'S LORE-FUCKING-EXTREME, I'm pretty sure that he really doesn't aid that much in the game.

Actually, he does reveal some pretty extremely important universe stuff.

the dlc contains one of, if not THE most important core pieces of universe plot in the entire series.
if you don't understand why that is, you did not play Mass Effect.
Here's the thing, regardless of what any one of us think about 'Day 1 DLC', it's not up to us, it's up to devs to decide, it's their game, they want to make money and by golly they've got every right to do so, if you don't like it, don't buy the game, don't buy the DLC but most of all, don't sit around complaining over content, there isn't anything you can do but accept that this is the way things are.
Thinking like this is what has helped devs get away with the whole, "Day 1 DLC" bullshit, if you really think that this is how the way things are there's something wrong in your head.
EA already did this with MoH 2010. The two DLC's that came out first were found to be included on the disk.
Could could and could. There's the thing that they won't. They won't take away your games even when they ban you.
Terrible example.
Yeah, they don't take away your games but you can't access them.
Yeah, they don't take away your games but you can't access them.
Same shit, so it's still a issue.
The funny thing is that it's legal to use it if you own the game. The dlc being unlocked could be argued as a side effect if the main purpose is to remove the need for the dvd.
I don't understand how this would be legal at all.
Hey guys, wanna know the big problem with on-disc DLC?
It's right in the name.
Downloadable content.
I don't understand how selling a game on discs, and then restricting portions of the content on those discs unless extra cash is paid, is legal
Could you try applying that model on anything else? I can't think of anything that would even remotely be acceptable
I guess they think the majority of players won't know any better, and that makes it okay
Honestly, EA are one of the worst publishers out there, far worse than activision, sure activision over produces games and sells over priced map packs, but at least the consumer gets the whole game when they purchase a game.

One of the reasons I'm worried about Sim City 5
I wonder what they're going to leave out to sell you the next day. We all know EA and Maxis whore Sim games like computers are going out of style

Dunno, maybe streets, powerplants or something crucial, lol.

yes I know why he's lore-fucking-extreme but I got along JUST FINE without him. it's not that hard to do you know.
it's a blunder, what they did, but yeah just deal with it it really isn't that big.
and I meant in-game anyways. he doesn't do much for the story other than lore elements or so I've heard to be honest.

Just Deal With It.
Eventually we'll buy literally half a game for a full price tag, and the second half for $10 to $20 more. They'll have to change the name though, since DLC is becoming unpopular, but people just deal with it and buy it anyway. It'll be the new Chapter Delivery. Buy the game in chapters for a Cool $10 a piece, but to get the entire game you're going to have to buy 8 chapters, and they're all available from Day. One.
Stupid

For a while I thought EA had cleaned its act up after the massive backlash from SecuROM, the whole 3 day installs thing and the general quality of Spore, but now they just seem to be going back to the old days.

I thought the exact thing. I was happy EA was turning a new leaf, and that lasted about 3 months
I thought having the Lacrimosa playing in the background was a little pretentious at first, but if you know the text it's kind of clever.
I don't understand how this would be legal at all.
Cracking games is legal if you own the game.

that honestly wouldn't work. sure you would get a few purchases but nobody would be willing to sell a half made game, and expect people to LOVE THE FUCK out of it and pay over $60.
