• EA/Origin: If you don't log in for 2 years we'll delete all the games you paid for

There is a re-authentication process which you can go through to receive your games back.
FP always over reacts to stuff like this, it's funny.
If Battlefield 3 requires Origin, I wish it would be possible to know how it affects the sales figures. If it's just a dumb download manager that isn't required to play the game, it might not be as bad for them. But then again, EA really likes being a massive dick, I wouldn't be surprised if it initially didn't require Origin, but it became a requirement in a later patch.
Again, I am having to cover this shit; Have any of you who are scared of it being required for BF3 even used Origin? If you have you wouldn't be worried. Origin cannot patch games, is not a form of DRM, and is merely an installer. Having games on Origin myself, I can play them just fine, even when the client isn't running. The client does not have the capability to patch a game, as it only downloads installers. Patching is handled by the game launcher itself. If you don't want to use Origin to install BF3, just buy it from another service, or failing that, retail. Besides, it will use your EA account, the account you need to play BF3, using that account on any service will show activity, they shouldn't be able to disable the account if it is in use. This clause has been in since EADM, don't expect it to go soon. They've had bad press over it before, and just ignored it if I remember.
Switching over from steam right now!!!!
There is a re-authentication process which you can go through to receive your games back.
I bet it's something like "re-authenticate your game through the revolutionary process called 'buying them again'!".
Steam cancels accounts due to inactivity too.
Best part.
FP always over reacts to stuff like this, it's funny.
THIS IS NOT OVERREACTING THAT ASSHOLE DESERVES SHIT DOWN HIS THROAT AND KNIVES THROUGH HIS HEART. /c In all due seriousness, I see no point in it.
Best part.
I had somebody on my friends list who hadn't logged on for over 2 years and they still have their account and games.
Steam cancels accounts due to inactivity too.
Only accounts without games. Source
FP always over reacts to stuff like this, it's funny.
Well, its because FP is a Valve loving community, and since valve made steam its obvious that people are going to prefer Steam over something else quite strongly. Not to mix up with fanboyism though, if Origin actually wouldn't be bad, people would just leave it alone.
I don't mind Origin personally but they need to do something about this clause in order to stop bad press and such I guess in theory you could just save all your legit cd/dvd keys and if your account was ever canceled you could re-register them or use them with game files obtained elsewhere

Yeah same, probably just left it in to cover their asses or even forgot that it was there
I bet it's something like "re-authenticate your game through the revolutionary process called 'buying them again'!".
When Battlefield Vietnam came out my game didn't have a CD key for some reason. I'm trying to understand what they have to gain from this.
Wow this much fuss over that? Do you really think you're going to go 2 years without signing into your origin account at least ONCE?
i had no beef with origin until now. didn't they do this with EADM, something like you can only download this X times or whatever?
I had somebody on my friends list who hadn't logged on for over 2 years and they still have their account and games.
Yeah same here. Source
Oh that explains it. Yeah what steam does isn't the same as this imo
What's the big deal? If you don't log on for two years, it's not like you really care about the games.
What's the big deal? If you don't log on for two years, it's not like you really care about the games.
You're still losing something you paid for.
Scam someone in TF2 trading and you're banned, your whole account gone, and games. worse than origin

EA are such bastards with money. I mean 2 years is a fairly long time, but they're your games, which you paid for. They shouldn't be taken away just because you haven't been on them in 2 years.
entitlements are ingame purchases and DLC, not full games still, that blows
I really do feel sorry for Dice being in the position they are in, from the videos and interviews you can really see they're pouring everything they can do into Battlefield 3 yet EA's literally throwing it in they're faces with the Origin shite.
I like how EA is all like "Think of it like a favor"
entitlements are ingame purchases and DLC, not full games still, that blows
No, read the summary on Reddit [release]"Entitlements" are licensed rights granted, awarded, provided and/or purchased by you to access and/or use online or off-line elements or features of EA Services and/or products. Entitlements include but are not limited to paid and free downloadable content, unlockable content, digital and/or virtual assets, rights of use tied to unlock keys or codes, serial codes and/or online authentication of any kind, in-game achievements and virtual or fictional currency not otherwise governed by a Digital Services Agreement.[/release] It includes everything you pay for
Looks like Ea are going back to being the dickhead company they were back when spore came out.
Just digging themselves a deeper hole.

But is anecdotal, you get caught hacking once even if its not you on the computer or using your account and you lose everything.
