Correct me if I am wrong but Los Angeles is located near the "San Andreas Fault"?.
You guys consider a 4.4 a strong earthquake? Pffffttt
in a tv studio with heavy equipment hanging above
Reminds me of the only earthquake I've ever experience before. It was a couple years ago in the Netherlands, 4.7, IIRC. It felt like a bunch of large trucks driving past the house, except there weren't any. Somewhat scary considering the last earthquake we had before that was 20 years ago.
You guys consider a 4.4 a strong earthquake? Pffffttt
not like those guys had a magnitude detector in their heads you can see them chill out when they realize it's a small one
Someone needs to make a gif of that guy freaking out and hiding under his desk.
You guys consider a 4.4 a strong earthquake? Pffffttt
They're the media. The media in the USA does this thing where they take a story, an event, what they see, whatever it is. Then pretend like they're Richard Simmons sweating to the oldies when they describe it. Every. Single. Time. [editline]17th March 2014[/editline] Oh god That gif is a perfect reaction gif to an above poster
That was pretty interesting to watch. Denmark never has earthquakes of anything over 4, and I've personally never been in a situation where I actually noticed any of the ones we have had, so seeing people react was pretty neat.
Here's some stuff you might like. The only time we ever had an earthquake I was sleeping on the couch. I felt the ground shake in my house once, but it turned out that somebody just dropped a couple m80s in my neighbor's garbage can
I think we had a small one about a year ago. I got very confused thinking "damn the washing machine downstairs is gonna rattle itself to death" then I thought oh wait I guess that was an earthquake?
one time we had an earthquake while i was trimming stuff in my garden i thought the ground felt kinda funny and then i saw my pool sloshing about to be honest i think the new's anchor's reaction was a little justified; there's a lot of gear hanging above their heads, and id guess that any of that would at least cause some sort of concussion.
We had a small earthquake here in louisville, kentucky, but it felt like a small one, it happened during the middle of a night during 2008... i think at march or april.
Here's some stuff you might like.
And if you want a really good one. Listen to that boom.

Earthquakes scare me, especially since where I live it's basically:
Given that a large Wasatch fault earthquake occurs, on average, every 350 years, the next "big one" may occur at any time.
There was a small earthquake (somewhere in the lower half of 4) where I lived. A few people noticed including me but we didn't really care all that much.
imagine being in an earthquake with twenty 150 pound light bulbs dangling above your head
I seriously don't blame his reaction. It ended up being nothing, but for all he knew at the time, it could have evolved into something very serious.
I used to live in LA and most of the time you couldn't feel the earthquakes, but if you got really close to the ground sometimes you could hear a hum. One of the worst was just a couple things falling out of a cabinet.
You guys consider a 4.4 a strong earthquake? Pffffttt
the los angeles area is known for getting much worse ones than that, so when people feel the ground shaking they don't just sit around assuming it's going to be a small one and everything will be fine.
This one happened during the biggest baseball game on earth, tags aren't working but look up CBS World Series earthquake
We've got some, ceiling stuff here.
DUST, WE'VE GOT SOME DUST PEOPLE, FUCKING MOVE IT IT'S COMING DOWN.
Apparently the guy isn't used to California, as he hasn't live there for too long And there is a huge bunch of equipment above him, I don't blame him
The earthquake woke me up this morning and I just stayed in bed. I feel like most Los Angelenos will either react appropriately in case it is The Big One or just employ their instincts to go "nah, this is like, what, 5?" and then look it up a few minutes later. I went back to sleep and one of the dogs went up to my bed and gently woke me up by placing his paw on my face to see if I was alive.
I once felt a tiny earthquake here in Germany. Was sitting on my couch and suddenly felt some kind of movement, very weird feeling. I looked over to my mom, she didn't notice a thing, so I went back to watching TV. Next day I hear about this tiny earthquake in the news, but everyone was making a big deal out of it since this stuff never happens in Germany.
this shit is serious, it woke me the fuck up and scared the hell out of me and now im scared another one is gonna hit any minute
I seriously don't blame his reaction. It ended up being nothing, but for all he knew at the time, it could have evolved into something very serious.
Indeed. Besides, Southern California is supposedly overdue for a really big one, like something beyond an 8.0 magnitude earthquake. So I don't think it's so far-fetched to expect a huge quake when the ground starts shaking. I would have reacted in a similar fashion. That shit is scary, man.
Living in SoCal for college, originally from East Coast USA The quake woke me up and having basically never experienced a quake before I was just confused as to what was going on. Then I slept some more
We had a 6.7 earthquake here 2 days ago, it was nothing because our buildings are (suppodsely) made for at least 8,5 richter, and we had a preventive tsunami warning, luckily nothing happened. If an earthquake of such magnitude would happen in a country that's not ready it would be catasthropic.
