I live in South Jersey; Cumberland County to be exact.
stop complaining that these people are taking "yer jerbs" because they're jobs that noone wants to do. jesus christ if you're going to whine about these people doing very laborious jobs then how about you go try and do it for a day then complain how these people are stealing our jobs and not paying taxes(which they do, both income and sales(how do you NOT pay sales tax???))

People would be fully willing to do those jobs if the cost of labor went up appropriately with the demand for labor, instead of shipping in people willing to work below minimum wage. Just saying. Find it kind of amusing how people on the left tend to attack people who export jobs to poorer nations, and pay them very little compared to American workers... but when they're importing workers to do what is essentially the same exact thing it's somehow different because diversity. I'm not even against immigration, illegal or not, I'm just not a fan of this absurd reasoning people attempt to use which flies in the face of their own values.
Pretty much anyone who isn't either really high profile like a celebrity or really important like a scientist. The waiting list for common folk is very long and many people never get accepted at all.
What a shame. There is finite space and finite resources. We can't just let in everyone that wants to. We have to ration ourselves.
this could be a good thing. it appears that it's on the way to the supreme court, and if it is, there's the potential that obama's executive order may be legitimized by the highest levels of the judicial branch. the dept. of homeland security is a function of the executive branch, of which the president has under his control. he's really not overstepping his bounds at all, and republicans are freaking out about this because they get to use it as fuel that he's not cooperative but partisan (thanks to their complete refusal to partake in progressive immigration reform on any serious level)
Isn't that illegal?
Nope. True story: Had a Louisiana State Trooper teaching a HAZMAT class for the volunteer fire department here. To drive home the point of "you never know what's in these trucks", he told us a story about one of his fellow officers. The guy pulled over a Dr.Pepper truck around New Orleans on I-10 because it had New Mexico plates (for those of you who may not understand, products like soft drinks are either bottled or distributed in each state individually, so you would never see an out of state soft drink distribution truck). The trooper asked the guy to step out of the vehicle, to which the driver responded "You are not authorized to tell me that." The trooper asked again, and got the same response. At this point, the trooper pulled his gun, at which point a few black SUVs pulled up behind the trooper, and the occupants pulled M16s on the officer. Turns out, the government was shipping rockets/missiles from Florida to New Mexico. They used a Dr. Pepper truck to haul them so the public couldn't tell it was a military vehicle. The SUVs were supposed to be right behind the truck, but got stuck in traffic. Nobody got in trouble, although the trooper needed a fresh pair of underwear. The point is, they can absolutely pull you over due to out of state plates. If the plates give them reasonable suspicion, they have every right to pull you over and check it out.

ONE TYPE OF JOB ISN'T WANTED, AND THAT IS AGRICULTURE. 2 MILLION IMMIGRANTS DO NOT JUST GO STRAIGHT INTO AGRICULTURE. They also went into construction, contract work, and other fields which is really a problem up here in the north. It's normal to see the non union mexican workers getting the contract over the union workers, like my father who is constantly unemployed when the economy is in the shitter, yet all the non union undocumented mexican workers are still getting work. To say that illegal immigrants are not a problem is wrong. The system is fucked, but I'm unsure how to reform that.
So it's their fault because the local system is shit?
Now where exactly did I say that? Just because they're a problem doesn't mean it is entirely their fault that they are a problem.
