Alan Moore slams Frank Miller for ‘Occupy Wall Street’ comments

frank miller hasn't done anything good for a very long time. the man wrote and drew the dark knight strikes back, for fuck's sake.
Occupy is a mixed bag with me, I think they are fucking stupid for making a dog a rep.

Thank you. I actually watched the original movie that 300 was based off of, "The 300 Spartans", and I can say that for lasting appeal the latter was much more enjoyable. It told a story and I, being into ancient history and all that, enjoyed it. If you want non-stop battles and blood, play a video game.

I wonder how he reacts to protesters wearing Guy Fawkes masks.

Frankly, I loved 300. If you payed any attention to it's visual style, it's incredible. I can put all that other shit off to the side and just watch pretty pictures. As a film student/maker, I can almost never have that experience.
Zack Snyder is like my eyebleach for having watched too many powerful dramas.
Not enough prostitutes in OWS for Franks liking, since that's the only type of female he knows about if his comics are anything to go by. Seriously, after he wrote Sin City or whatever his last big hit was he must have had a stroke because he probably hasn't written anything good since.
“I’m sure if it had been a bunch of young, sociopathic vigilantes with Batman make-up on their faces, he’d be more in favor of it. We would definitely have to agree to differ on that one.”
hahahahaha. i like alan moores views on vigilantes.

subtle pun
I might agree with Alan that Frank does seem like quite the cunt, however I still like both of their works.
It's a bit like chicken nuggets to me, some people feel too disgusted to keep eating them once they've seen how they're made.
However I found them delicious before I knew how they were made, and after seeing how they were made I still find them delicious.
Alan Moore slams Frank Miller for ‘Occupy Wall Street’ comments
[release]“Occupy Wall Street” has accomplished many things in its over two month existence. And now, the latest accomplishment could be starting a war between prominent comic book figures Frank Miller and Alan Moore.
In responding to Miller’s remorseless slamming of the protests last month on his blog, Moore wasn’t afraid to tell Honest Publishing in an interview how he really felt about the Sin City creator.
“Well, Frank Miller is someone whose work I’ve barely looked at for the past twenty years,” he said. “I thought the Sin City stuff was unreconstructed misogyny, 300 appeared to be wildly ahistoric, homophobic and just completely misguided. I think that there has probably been a rather unpleasant sensibility apparent in Frank Miller’s work for quite a long time. Since I don’t have anything to do with the comics industry, I don’t have anything to do with the people in it.”
Moore, who is famous for creating popular series such as Watchmen and V for Vendetta, than gave his candid thoughts on both Miller’s “Occupy” comments and how he differs politically from the rest in the comics industry.
“I heard about the latest outpourings regarding the Occupy movement,” he said. “It’s about what I’d expect from him. It’s always seemed to me that the majority of the comics field, if you had to place them politically, you’d have to say centre-right. That would be as far towards the liberal end of the spectrum as they would go.”
“I don’t even know if I’m centre-left. I’ve been outspoken about that since the beginning of my career. So yes I think it would be fair to say that me and Frank Miller have diametrically opposing views upon all sorts of things, but certainly upon the “Occupy” movement.
Moore went on to signal how he stands in solidarity with the demonstrations.
“As far as I can see, the Occupy movement is just ordinary people reclaiming rights which should always have been theirs,” he said. “I can’t think of any reason why as a population we should be expected to stand by and see a gross reduction in the living standards of ourselves and our kids, possibly for generations, when the people who have got us into this have been rewarded for it; they’ve certainly not been punished in any way because they’re too big to fail.”
He added: “I think that the “Occupy” movement is, in one sense, the public saying that they should be the ones to decide who’s too big to fail. It’s a completely justified howl of moral outrage and it seems to be handled in a very intelligent, non-violent way, which is probably another reason why Frank Miller would be less than pleased with it.”

DAYUM
Welp Alan Moore is infinitely a better writer than Miller, if a bit of a pretentious fuck at times.
I never really got on the whole sin city bandwagon, I didn't think it was great the first time i read it, i still didn't think it was all that great when they made a movie out of it. 300 (the book) wasn't all that fascinating to me either, i thought it was a bit bland. The movie was cool, but it was more that it was unashamedly a journey down testosterone alley with great special effects, nothing of actual substance however.
That said, The Dark Knight Returns is easily one of the best graphic novels I've read, and one of the best batman stories. The idea of batman returning to pick up the mantle as an aging man was brilliant, in an industry where the superheroes are forever young. Plus he's responsible for one of the best moments ever: Batman beating the snot out of superman.

Oh wow, they made a book off of 300? Was the line "THIS IS SPARTA" in all caps?

I wish that posting banana man's videos warranted a ban.
Did he just say the comic industry isn't liberal?
Super Hero's are against the death penalty, for trials against terrorist (even for godlike enemies), the villains are often the rich, I remember Fox News complained that Superman renounced hi.s US citizenship and super heroes are indoctrinating kids.

What's wrong with them beyond the fact that YOU don't like him?

I thought the idea was good, but the writing itself cliche, immature, and uneducated. The "hippie who loves acid" all the "I'm too old for this" anecdotes, the cheesy "I can do anything I put my mind to" female robin, the shoehorned in superman battle. I don't get what all the fuss is about.
Not to mention the forced phonetic writing of character accents that when read aloud sound like alien gibberish.
The idea was phenomenal; the execution? Not so much.

No one has anything to say about this? I always found many Super Heroes to be very liberal if you actually think about it.
I wonder how he reacts to protesters wearing Guy Fawkes masks.
I'm pretty sure he hated and basically disowned the movie. So I can't imagine he likes all the people who wear the mask knowing most of them probably didn't even read the comic.
Whenever Frank Miller makes a statement on world issues, I take a long, hard look at my copy of The Dark Knight Returns.
Then I cry a little.
frank miller is a shitty writer and a shittier person
Atleast after the 80's.
What other things has he said just curious?
What has Occupy Wall Street actually accomplished? Haven't really been following it, and just seen a lot of protesters being moved on by police.
