Well, I shared my mirror with someone and they informed me that you also need an installer, so here http://filebanana.com/blackmesa/
(I'm on a netbook, it's not like I can install this right now!)
I am pretty sure you can just install the mod files, you just have to rename the folder to BMS

yes but i don't want a mirror that doesn't actually mirror everything!
mm i loving all the little details like the blood that gets on your hands and weapons and blood pools and all the little references throughout the game.
def. worth the wait
The music used for this game is just...oh god its beautiful
Oh! You motherfuckers, Black Mesa Team!
So I'm contemplating tackling the game again on "Hard", but I've been fucking around in the game, spawning gargs in places and watching the world burn, but I decided I'd check out the cliffside level in Surface Tension and see how that 3D skybox worked.
And no matter which direction you go, try to noclip out of the playable area, and the game will reload your last save...
Yeesh, jealously guarding your secrets much? It's not like you'll stop people from decompiling the map.

they've made it clear that they don't want anyone using their assets
they've made it clear that they don't want anyone using their assets
You're gonna have to define "use" and "asset," because in the broad understanding of that sentence, it could mean as much as saying they don't want people to play their game.
Don't see why they'd bother anyway, it's not like a Source mod is going to have a lot of room for bleeding edge game-design trade secrets to exist. And like I said, it's not like someone isn't going to decompile their maps.
Got [sp]the purple hat[/sp] all the way to the portal.

The teleporter sequence, though...
Mind telling where did you get that purple hat?
Mind telling where did you get that purple hat?
In the sequence where you have to go through the teleporters you will eventually end up at a room with a barney and two scientists. Behind you there is a ladder which leads down into a dead end corridor and in the corner on a shelf there is a purple top hat.
The only issue I have with BM is that enemies have pinpoint accuracy and almost never miss even on easy.

I've found distance to be the key.
The soldiers will keep shooting at you with MP5s even if you're a long way away and you can pick them off with the revolver (or the pistol if you're out of revolver ammo)

Vortigaunts are the worst thing to have to fight in an open area, they're god damn snipers.

I take it you never played Obsidian Conflict's OC_Docks...
Dammit, I regret choosing the hardest difficulty based on my previous HL-experiences. Otherwise it's fun and challenging, but those fucking SOLDIERS! The lobby-trap -part was just not fun, I sat behind a box with a shotgun and quicksaved every time I managed to kill someone without dying in 1-3 hits. :v:
This game is awesome except those FUCKING BUGGED JUMPING MECHANICS!
Jokes aside, I really love the changes. Shit like OSHA signs and stuff that actually make you think that the black mesa facility could really exist, I mean the addition of a floor in the infamous 'box crushing room' helped to make what was essentially an inexplicable jumping puzzle into a real, plausible room.

Yeah, I'm playing a second time on hard mode. You take damage like a motherfucker from those soldiers. It at least makes you use your head, and creates uses for the grenades, satchel charges and tripmines. Those four explosive barrels in Power Up are useful to send up in the elevator along with a satchel charge. Then I stood two regular barrels in front of me for cover...
Assassins are a pain in the god damn ass, the only way I've managed to kill them so far is satchel charges, forcing them into tripmines and with the grenade launcher.

Those Ninja things? They died like bitches to the shotgun.

I got lucky with them, they pretty much instantly ran into me and I gave them a teeth whitening with the secondary-blast from my shotgun. Only one of them actually ran around and away from me, but I managed to kill her with magnum.
I managed to find one that was just staring off into the distance and crowbar'd it to death.
The game runs at like 25fps tops for me, so it's not easy to track them and any time I'd try chasing them down with the shotgun they'd do a flip over something, I'd totally lose sight of them and then thwipthwipthwip dead.
I haven't played much yet, but one particular scene full on left me with my jaw hanging open.
Just another shit goes to hell, I walk around a corner, one scientist is in a airvent, getting pulled in by his legs thanks to a zombie inside, another scientist standing on a stepladder holding his hands.
The second scientist loses his grip, the first is pulled inside with the zombie.
The second scientist recoils backwards from letting go, falls backwards doing a full spin and faceplants on the ground, followed by the ladder tipping over, and the top rung landing on his neck and killing him.
Blood and gibs of the first scientist are then fired out of the airvent all over him.
Was in shock for a moment

In that same scene one of the gibs from the first scientist somehow got stuck in the airvent. It showered blood for about half a minute or so before stopping.

At the part when you first encounter them, I only had 8 health so it was a real pain in the ass to kill all three of them because they would kill me in one shot.
But the shotgun and and especially the magnum works a treat, provided they don't see you first.

I remember and I could not stop laughing at the whole scripted scene, especially the sounds.

Considering I'm wearing a bright orange suit with a flashlight on the front, and they're mostly invisible, spotting them first just don't happen :v:
How the hell do I make it so autoaim doesn't auto enable
I don't want to play in babbymode each time I forget to turn it off
I like how Black Mesa manages to make the cascade rather sad, since the game plays dramatic music as you first see the scientist trying to help the dying guard.

I run after them with my shotgun, blowing their ass to hell.

Are you playing on hard? Charging them got me killed pretty fast, I might just suck though.
