Increased Flouride Levels in Drinking Water Correlated With ADHD

Too much fluoride can cause certain problems, that's a know fact.
But way more than what you'd get added from water companies, usually to get too much would be if you got water from a well or area with a ground rich in fluoride.
Most obvious effect are stains on your teeth though.
You can't just say let them add it to their own water. Fluoride helps with tooth decay and asking a family, especially a poor family that may not have the education to know how to properly clean teeth without fluoride, to add the right amount of fluoride is simply too much to be expected. Fluoride in water is one of the most important health advancements, it allows people to decrease the chance of having tooth decay passively.
but it calcifies my pineal gland
Fluoride isn't dangerous unless you consume way too much of it.
The amount that is put into drinking water is not harmful.
but it calcifies my pineal gland
Yeah, how else are you supposed to use your third eye to spot the illuminati?
but it calcifies my pineal gland
its okay you dont even know what the pineal gland is
What's your point? I know that. My point was that fluoride should not be added to water, as this is a fluoride-specific thread.
I think it should be, because it is a harmless additive that proves beneficial to health.
Alright, time to get educated, you fools.
Increasing fluoride levels are associated with lowered rates of dental caries. However, dental fluorosis also increases. At concentrations over 2.5 parts per million (ppm), dental fluorosis starts to become a noticeable cosmetic issue. Thus, a level of 1 ppm is generally recognised as a good target to aim for in drinking water.
Fluoride is naturally present in the environment. Seawater contains roughly 1 ppm of fluoride, while groundwater generally contains less than 0.5 ppm. In some areas, however, depending on the composition of the rocks and soil, this can reach 50 ppm. Bottled water with no added fluoride sold in the US is regulated by the FDA to contain no more than 2.4 ppm of fluoride, while the EPA mandates that tap water cannot contain more than 4 ppm, and recommends a level no higher than 2 ppm.
In other words, depending on where you live, the gubmint could well be removing fluoride from your water to keep it safe to drink rather than adding it in. Making a huge fuss over water fluoridation merely highlights your lack of knowledge of the issue.

Cutting off your foreskin is generally seen as safe as well. But it's useless and only done by America and other 3rd-world countries.
Fluoride has a place, but it should not be forced on everyone through water. Lots of you people get mad at having your foreskin cut but you so blindly encourage mass medication via drinking water. What the fuck.
Take fluoride by yourself if you want it, don't take it if you don't, and don't force it on everyone through water. What's hard about that? Its what like all the European countries other than UK has done, and ironically UK has the worst teeth.

Yes, the government should filter it out and they do in modern countries.
Water with over 0,5ppm is illegal to have through the tap and is filtered to much below that. My town has almost none.

Do you believe in making medical choices for everyone that does not effect you?
Forcing vaccines is fine because diseases spread, but me not drinking fluoride isn't going to make YOUR teeth rot out.

Actually, if we are drinking the same water, it very well could.

Fluoride doesn't cost shit because people are trying to get rid of it, it's literally waste. It's expensive to get rid of it because of the damage it can do.
Do you believe in making medical choices for everyone that does not effect you?
Yes.
Quarantine, vaccination, the type of water distributed through sanitation (covers more than fluoride), regulation of doctors profession, the regulation of alternative and complementary medicine, etc.
Forcing vaccines is fine because diseases spread, but me not drinking fluoride isn't going to make YOUR teeth rot out.
So whats the big issue with you drinking 1ppm of fluoride exactly?
Actually, if we are drinking the same water, it very well could.
No it won't. You would get less fluoride if you did not add it to your own water, yes.. but that is not the direct result of me, that's a direct result of your laziness.
the type of water distributed through sanitation (covers more than fluoride),

Fluoride has nothing to do with sanitation, and is actually making water less pure.
And if the statement "I DO NOT WANT TO DRINK THIS CHEMICAL" is not a good enough answer for you, then fuck yourself you disgusting fascist. It's MY body, it should be MY right to not take in a chemical that ONLY affects ME.

Sorta interesting, I have white stains on both of my front teeth, and I'm diagnosed with ADHD. It must be true!
oh wait my city's fluoridation report is 0.22ppm nevermind

filter and boil your water then

Why don't you want to consume fluoride?
filter and boil your water then
1) distilling water with fluorine in it is not actually as effective as you'd like to believe
2) it's senseless to do a long and/or energy intensive distilling process because some people are too lazy to add their own chemicals to their water if they want it
In what way?

What do you mean? Fluoride does not purify water.
Why don't you want to suck my dick? I get my fluoride from different sources and manage it myself. But my reasoning doesn't matter and it's disgusting that you need a reason for the statement "I don't want to have this in my body". It's a freedom of choice.

Adding fluoride to water is beneficial for public health, and it does not demonstrably cause any harm whatsoever at the levels it is added. Your irrational insistence on avoiding it completely is going to cause an increase in the incidence of dental caries, which will lead to increased healthcare costs for the country as a whole.
What do you mean? Fluoride does not purify water.
I know. But you said it makes it "less pure". I am asking for a clarification on this.

I'm interested in knowing why. Why do you not want to consume it?
I have freedom of choice to say "I don't want to eat almonds". Why? Because I don't like the taste.
I know. But you said it makes it "less pure". I am asking for a clarification on this.
Because you're adding something to it. It's not just water anymore. Adding gasoline to water makes it less pure.

Western Europe has some of the best dental health in the world, and none have fluorided water. Guess what, education on how to take care of your teeth can work even better than forced medication.

Fluoride has no health benefit other than teeth related stuff. There is no reason other than that, and thus is less pure. Yes fluoride is naturally in some water but not all and should never be intentionally added.
I do not want additional fluoride because I take care of my teeth fine without it in my water and I also get it from other sources. I can CHOOSE to use fluoride-enriched toothpaste and mouth washes. I can not choose if I get it added in my water if I wasn't in glorious Sweden.
Because you're adding something to it. It's not just water anymore. Adding gasoline to water makes it less pure.
Comparing gasoline to fluoride is disingenuous. One is a mixture of organic compounds that formed over millions of years of heat and pressure after being buried miles underground. Another is the 13th most common element in the Earth's crust. Their effects on health are vastly different.
Complaining about 1 ppm of fluoride as a contaminant also demonstrates your laughable paucity of knowledge of what is actually in your water. Unless you use reverse osmosis filters or just outright distill your water, it is probably going to contain dozens of different dissolved minerals in varying concentrations, and a similar amount of particulate matter. It is mere paranoia that you insist that your water contain no fluoride whatsoever.

What harm does it cause? We've established it causes good in the form of dental health.

That's not a reason. That's like saying "I don't want the government to give people free bananas, because I can choose to get my own bananas".
Identify an actual fault. I want to hear something that's actually measurable or makes sense. It can't be just "I don't like it, because I don't like it".

Water has a great deal of other additives to it. Why single out fluoride?

"Water is not naturally just H²O in the majority of cases, so it's okay for me to add more shit to it :downs:"
Its not stupid to want to have water be as water-only as possible. Not many people go through the effort to make it so, but that does not justify adding more chemicals to it. Natural fluoride can not be avoided in the trace amounts, but intentionally adding it is shitty.

Fluoride is toxic and its longterm effects of daily ingestion has not been studied. Thus it is regulated to a super low level and not allowed more to be added in most EU countries.
" the government wants to force-feed me bananas when I am already full and don't want to overdose on potassium"
???
I can choose to not take a banana, I can not choose that the American water has added chemicals to it
And I know its not just fluoride, just that's what this thread is about. And most other additives are related to purification anyways.
Drinking pure H2O is not healthy in the long run. There's natural minerals that you should get in water. Stuff that's not artificially added. If you're drinking pure H2O you better be taking your vitamins.
Its not stupid to want to have water be as water-only as possible.
Uh, yes it is? Drinking pure water with absolutely no additives isn't good for you.
Uh, yes it is? Drinking pure water with absolutely no additives isn't good for you.
But it isn't bad for you. It's just better yo get more minerals. Don't be stupid.

It is stupid because it costs money to purify water that much, and when it does not result in demonstrably less health effects, that is money wasted. At some point you have to accept that water is just going to be impure.
On the other hand, adding fluoride has shown to have a positive effect on the dental health of society as a whole.
Fluoride is toxic and its longterm effects of daily ingestion has not been studied. Thus it is regulated to a super low level and not allowed more to be added in most EU countries.
Except it isn't. The lethal dose is about 5 - 10 grams (32 to 64 milligrams per kilogram of body weight), while health problems begin at about 0.2 to 0.3 milligrams per kilogram of body weight.
The amount of fluoride ingested in water comes nowhere close to either of those.

But the government doesn't force you to drink the water lol.

You still haven't answered my question about toxicity.
The amount of fluoride put in water is nowhere near toxic.
