Increased Flouride Levels in Drinking Water Correlated With ADHD

I'm not forcing this medication on you, I'm just putting it in that water you drink.
You're forgetting that you're also absorbing it through your skin every time you shower or take a bath.
The amount absorbed through your skin is even less than you would from consumption. Your flesh would decay and rot off from prolonged exposure to water before fluoride is an issue. Looks like we should remove all water from the planet because it is clearly more dangerous than fluoride.

Medication implies it serves to benefit us at a cost which can be measured to be relatively harmless comparatively to what the alternative effect is by not using it. You've proven my point.
I'm not forcing this medication on you, I'm just putting it in that water you drink.
That's fine. Give me it to drink and I shall do so.

For the last time, fluoride is not medication, and it is criminally misleading to suggest so. It is the 13th most abundant element in the Earth's crust, and I'll be damned if you think you can completely eliminate it from your environment just by whining about how the government shouldn't add it to your water because it infringes on your rights and freedoms.
Interesting thing to mention. So the flouride might not directly contribute to ADHD, but it could lead to the ingestion of lead, which is well known for having a negative mental health impact
The high levels of lead particulates in our air as a result of using leaded gasoline for nearly a century is linked heavily with many birth defects and mental health issues that came about in children born from roughly 1980 to the late 90's when we managed to get our shit together and stop pumping toxins into our air in incredible amounts.
Water fluoridation is perhaps the most fucking trivial thing to be up in arms about. It's harmless.
This sums up all of my thoughts about this.

Not to mention that fluoride is present in groundwater and drinking water in much higher levels naturally in many places than is artificially added. Many places actually have to filter fluoride out to under EPA guidelines, yet people had been consuming that water before this technology existed for hundreds of years with no ill effect. Did everyone in the 1700's have ADHD or something? History books must have forgot to mention it.

Yes I've heard that before too, quite interesting. Then again, that was also an epidemiological study, so it also holds about as much weight as this study (which isn't negligible in itself)
There is a correlation between cars and deaths too.
That's why we have safety standards for cars.
You don't die from not fluoridating you water like you do from not eating. That's a terrible comparison and you know it.

You also don't die from fluoridating your water. There is literally no health impact beyond what is said by crackpots, non-peer reviewed fringe studies and non-peer reviewed frigne studies done by crackpots.
Why did you feel the need to add what he said? Was it for a dramatic effect?
Of the fluoride you ingest, 99% of it is incorporated into your teeth and bones, which weaken their structure, making them more prone to cavities and fractures. 90% of it or more is absorbed through the skin.

You pullin our legs mate?
Are you an expert in "Shit that's never happened" ?

You are completely wrong.
At the concentrations found in drinking water, fluoride ions replace hydroxide ions in hydroxyapatite, forming fluorapatite. Fluorapatite is much more resistant to acidic attack than hydroxyapatite, which helps to protect teeth against caries.
At higher concentrations, fluoride ions do two things. Firstly, they cause dental fluorosis, which is the result of poor mineralization of the developing tooth. The exact mechanism of this is unknown, however, it is known that high concentrations of fluoride play a part. Secondly, they cause skeletal fluorosis, which is the result of fluoride ions leaching calcium from bones through the formation of the insoluble salt CaF2.
Also, I highly doubt that "90% of it is absorbed through the skin", because the skin is pretty goddamn impermeable to most ionic substances. Please provide a reference for that.
Please learn some chemistry before talking out of your ass about a topic you don't understand.

76% of statistics are made up on the spot. I would know, I made it up. More to the point, ionic compounds don't really absorb through skin too well. (Source: I was about half way through a degree in chemistry before I decided to change to a film major out of sheer hatred for calc 3) I really doubt 90% is even CLOSE to true. Also, fluoride doesn't weaker the structure of bones or teeth. Fluoride actually helps prevent acidic compounds from destroying tooth enamel. Meaning, all that soda you chug in your mum's basement wouldn't be rotting holes in your teeth as easily as it is assuming you weren't subscribing to Alex Jones Digest and Crackpots Quarterly.

If you look, there's the word "not" in his post, right before fluoridating your water. I mean, I could have said it for dramatic effect, but I actually did have a point. Maybe I should have italicized "not" to make it more apparent, my bad.
ugh the government keeps putting fucking hydrogen in my water i am horrified that they're using chemicals on their own citizens
ugh the government keeps putting fucking hydrogen in my water i am horrified that they're using chemicals on their own citizens
Yeah, don't they know that the Hindenburg was filled with hydrogen? That shit is DANGEROUS
Whoa hold up who cares about flouride in water, when WATER can actually kill you. I think our government should ban water.
As a consumer I have the RIGHT to decide what chemicals I consume.

Humans are made to drink water straight up without filtering from clean rivers that fish and bears and rabbits use as well
I'm pretty sure a little fluoride isn't going to kill you, or even, harm you, at all, actually
[editline]7th March 2015[/editline]
there are so many things 'linked' to adhd/cancer/brain damage it's not even funny.
You're going to probably end up being less healthy if you try and worry about how much stuff will cause illness
Humans are made to drink water straight up without filtering from clean rivers that fish and bears and rabbits use as well

YES, exactly. So do not fucking add it to the water, but remove it when its higher than normal.
My towns water comes direct from the river, its so clean and pure, with almost no natural fluoride in it. If all the people defending added fluorine in this thread had their way I would be sad.
Why is it though that the only people who defend fluoride are those who live in countries that force it upon them, such as Americans? Europeans do not want fluorode added to their water and their teeth are fine through education.

because my town has 0.22ppm of fluoride in the water
from some basic googling, most juices hover around 1ppm, most sodas are around .70ppm
it's so fucking insignificant that nobody gives half a shit
it's not like they have enormous factories where they pump powdered fluoride into our water with evil mustache-twirling grins
seriously, it's like complaining that your food has MSG in it, nobody gives a shit and it makes you sound genuinely retarded.

That's the most stupid and defeatist attitude ever.
"Ayy lmao this stuff exists already in most stuff, it'd okay to add more cuz we are too stupid and lazy to teach mouth hygiene"
Your examples is just further proving that adding fluorine is a stupid thing to do, since it already does come from other sources?
So are we done then? I mean, nothing the anti-fluoride guys have said has been anything other than illogical babble, the "muh freedumbs" fallacy, or even outright lies, so I mean we should be done here now right?
i only drink distilled water!
oh shit why are my red blood cells rupturing??

isn't fluoride found in river water?
what the hell is the issue of it being in water "Just because its not found in other water", that's so dumb. Do you even realize that river water can be a lot dirtier at times than filtered water? I wasn't referring to filtered river water, I was refering to

that's what we're made to drink
I'm betting you 100% that they add shit to that water and then filter/boil it in mass. But we can drink directly from that, no filtering, and be fine. We can deal with a LOT better things than some "ADHD causing" fluoride.
Don't drink the water, they put something in to make you forget. I don't even know how I got on this forum.

We are never done. We will never be until people stop being wilfully ignorant and start informing themselves.

fluoride isn't medication lmao

It's a natural process that happens with age though.
