I've found things like that become those phrases like "things will get better" and "I'm sure you'll find someone", that you get told again and again until they lose the little bit of hope they inspired the first few times.

I'm sorry, but he offed himself. He had deep underlying problems that he needed help dealing with. No person who is perfectly mentally healthy just wakes up and offs themselves.

The circumstances of this is much scarier than someone drowning a bottle of pills though. This guy did it in public, in front of a bunch of people in a much more violent way.
