If you ask me this is the one time I'm GLAD there's a three strike law. Why should killing a family dog, even if it's one as annoying as a Chihuahua, by throwing it across a room (and presumably against the wall, unless it hit the floor hard enough to snap it's neck or something) be any different than if he picked it up and smashed it against the wall, or threw it straight down onto the ground? If he did that people would be screaming to lock him up for life.
Especially when you consider how much people treat dogs like humans, I don't think I've ever seen a chihuahua owned by a middle age woman that WASN'T treated like it was her baby.
I think killing any living thing should warrant a life sentence, we're no better than they are, and if a dog bites a little kid it gets put down, when a person kicks a dog or abuses it they ought to receive a punishment just as severe.

no doubt animals deserve good treatment, but the fact that animals have no responsibilities in society means that they have less of a value.

Who the fuck are you to put a value to life? They don't have any responsibilities in society because they aren't the same species as us, they still play a HUGE role on the planet, just like every other animal. That's like me getting into a scrap and getting life sentence. Humans fight all the time, its nothing to give life for especially when there are actual worse causes to be locked up for life.

He didn't kill any humans, these assault charges are all over different periods of time. So no, he does not deserve a life sentence for assault.

the only life imprisonment I'd possibly support would be for murder (and not ALL murder cases. it'd depend on the circumstances.)

Actually domesticated cats and dogs play little to no role on the planet. Only a few domesticated animals actually serve a purpose other than to be someones play toy. Like this lady, she had a pet chihuahua in a travel bag, I see people all the time in the cities toting animals around, like fucking items they bought at the grocery store.

No, life imprisonment after showing that after 30 years since his first charge that he hasn't changed. I don't care if the guy killed a goldfish, it's the past crimes combined with him not showing and progress.

There shouldn't be any convictions past the first one. The point of punishing him to begin with isn't so that he can just go do it again. Hell, the first one shouldn't be there to begin with. There's no reason to be attacking anybody regardless of the situation.

Oh, so it's ok if I murder somebody as long as I serve out my sentence. Then if I go kill somebody else I should get the minimum sentence because I already wiped my slate clean by paying my debt to society.
The purpose of it isn't just to make them "pay their debt" it's supposed to rehabilitate them so they're fit to re-enter society without committing more crimes. Unfortunately because this country pours all it's money into it's military, the prison systems get much less than they should and the prison systems don't work nearly as good as they're supposed to.
