Oh, so it's ok if I murder somebody as long as I serve out my sentence. Then if I go kill somebody else I should get the minimum sentence because I already wiped my slate clean by paying my debt to society. The purpose of it isn't just to make them "pay their debt" it's supposed to rehabilitate them so they're fit to re-enter society without committing more crimes. Unfortunately because this country pours all it's money into it's military, the prison systems get much less than they should and the prison systems don't work nearly as good as they're supposed to.
He killed a dog not a person. That does not deserve life and the his past crimes which he has already served should not rack up against him.
Why not? If he committed crimes again the rehabilitation clearly didn't work and he's not fit to be back in society.

I've been saying exactly why this whole thread. Why don't you try reading the other sides argument instead of blindly defending your side like a fucking sheep.
i was referring to your "he committed crimes again" because he clearly didn't commit a crime of the same magnitude as his previous ones so why should he be punished as though he did? he obviously must have learned something because rather than assault his wife with a weapon he took his rage out on a dog
Why not? If he committed crimes again the rehabilitation clearly didn't work and he's not fit to be back in society.
Yet his crime is not assaulting people this time, for all you can tell from the article he didn't even mean to kill the dog, he threw the bag it was in across the room in a drunken rage, I don't see how giving him a sentence longer than he would usually get for this kind of crime is going to do anything more to rehabilitate him just because he has assaulted people in the past. [editline]24th May 2011[/editline] What he said ^^^
i was referring to your "he committed crimes again" because he clearly didn't commit a crime of the same magnitude as his previous ones so why should he be punished as though he did? he obviously must have learned something because rather than assault his wife with a weapon he took his rage out on a dog
So give him a lesser sentence because he killed a defenseless chihuahua instead of attacking his wife? Great logic there buddy
So give him a lesser sentence because he killed a defenseless chihuahua instead of attacking his wife? Great logic there buddy
Uh no, it's giving him the same sentence he should get for his crime because this time around he didn't beat the shit out of someone else so his last sentences had some effect in the way of rehabilitation If you're going to twist shit and say it's a lesser sentence because it doesn't include time for crimes he didn't commit or already served to try and justify your opinion it's clear you're even doubting it yourself

If you go from attacking people to getting into a drunken fit of rage and throwing a fucking dog across the room, your rehab clearly did even less than the guy that started doing coke.
Are you illiterate? I've been saying exactly why this whole thread. Why don't you try reading the other sides argument instead of blindly defending your side like a fucking sheep.
yeah man dont be a sheep to ~sOcIety!!!
So give him a lesser sentence because he killed a defenseless chihuahua instead of attacking his wife? Great logic there buddy
yeah you're right, your logic makes far more sense, he killed a chihuahua so lets punish him for 4 counts of assault with a weapon.
Three-strikes laws are bullshit.
