Technically both are mostly the same. They both have chemicals and tar in them, and both are bad for you.
However, marijuana smoke contains such small doses of these chemicals (unless it's laced with sometihng) that it's relatively harmless if in a ventilated area. However, in a couped up tiny room, or in massive amounts, it's quite deadly, nearly as much-so as cigarette smoke, because it also causes tar buildup on lungs, and in some rare cases, mouth and throat cancer. The chemicals in marijuana also can cause brain damage in [B]very high amounts[/B], leading to depression, anxiety disorder, hallucinations, memory loss, and bipolarity.
However, overall, marijuana smoke is much less deadly than cigarette smoke.

Marihuana smoke smells very little like normal cigarette smoke. I don't whether either one is thicker, but a cop is very very likely to notice whether it's marihuana that is(/was) being smoked, or normal cigarettes.

I don't know, the article made it seem like there was an abnormal amount of smoke coming from the vehicle and the cop just pulled them over to see what was going on.
And you're right, the sight of the smoke isn't enough for probable cause to search the vehicle but if he smelled it from behind them then it is enough of reason to search the vehicle.
Hope she'll enjoy her 24 hours in jail.

My mom did 3 weeks in jail for cocaine, if Paris doesn't get the same or similar sentence, I will no longer have faith for my own country.
