The Petition has been up less than 3 days and it already has 30k signatures, hell in the past hour it gained another thousand.
I'm garbage at math, but it's still only a tenth of a percent, right?
It's a gunboat.

Awesome, I was right!
that's not the highway at all
We don't have bridges in Texas so we're forced to ford the rivers in our cattle wagons. They use the boats to keep those parts monitored.

This would never happen.
Another thousand just signed it.
This would never happen.
It honestly looks like a really bad Victoria 2 game gone wrong.
if you look at the signatures alot of them aren't even from texas
I swear post-Civil War the end result was that secession was made more difficult if not impossible.
i hope hundreds and thousands of peoples lives are affected by crime because of a small minority of idiots
[editline]12th November 2012[/editline]
sometimes we use stale bread to make makeshift bridges that last hours at a time, but the horses usually buckle in
all the smart people will just move up while all the minority of idiots are affected
if you look at the signatures alot of them aren't even from texas
people are voting to get them out
democracy works both ways
if you look at the signatures alot of them aren't even from texas
We need UN observers to monitor our fake petition votes and keep Texans safe from out-of-state voter fraud!
I doubt even a quarter of the people on the petition even live in Texas
Its funny how these people think this would work.
If they're not going to legalize weed through this, what makes them think that they'd allow a state to secede through this?
they are the 1%!!1
0.1% actually
0.1% actually
Yeah that's what I thought.
How you word an article like this can greatly influence perception. I believe there wouldn't be nearly as many users viewing this thread if the thread title was "one tenth of a percent of the population of texas thinks secession is a good idea".
In fact like I said before I think the real story here is that it's only one tenth of a percent.
Yeah that's what I thought.

Actually polls from 2009 says it a third thinks secession would be cool.

The way I see it, okay, they could secede, but they get their pre 1848 borders, and the US Military completely pulls out

While unlikely they will still need to address it. It will probably some generic copy/paste crap with information on state law.
The way I see it, okay, they could secede, but they get their pre 1848 borders, and the US Military completely pulls out
You realize that that would put Denver inside Texas if we go to the Pre-1848 borders, right?
Garry Newman for President of Texas
texan elections would be a conservative clusterfuck of mighty proportions

Not really, until 2 years ago the Texas House and Senate was nearly equally divided between the Republican and Democratic party with a slight edge to the Republicans.

I like this map, I would be in Canada without even moving!
Honestly, let Texas leave.
Would the US suffer that bad if they actually did leave?

There's no way the Central North would be able to survive on its own. Even with michigan and ohio propping it up. The West could survive easily, as could the East. The South has oil and Gulf of Mexico access. Also, there's no way Colorado would be found with all those fucking red states, they'd be a part of the west.

Oil. Strong Economy. Entry point for immigrants who will wind up voting blue.

in 2009 Texas had a GDP higher than Australia. I'd say that's a pretty significant chunk of economy.

Lol, an immigration of people voting blue? I think you mean exodus.
