waiting for Obama to call them all idiots and shut their shit down.
Would the US suffer that bad if they actually did leave?
Yeah.
Honestly, let Texas leave.
Would the US suffer that bad if they actually did leave?
If there's still oil in the deserts of Texas, I guess so, but otherwise America could probably do without them.

I bet that at least 80% of the people in Texas want to stay part of the US. There is no way that 30,000 people should be able to decide for the rest.

It's a lot more than that really.

Oi, you fuckwits don't do this. I don't want to have to get a passport to visit my grandma.
Just for a second imagine if actually happens. That would be moment to remember, eh? You'd be able to tell your kids how you were alive when the USA still had 50 states.
Puerto rico would make 50 again!
Get rid of Texas, replace with Puerto Rico. However, now that I live in San Antonio, I wouldn't want to see a Republic of Texas, it wouldn't work
sure let Texans secede if they want to, we'll see what they do without all that federal subsidy money they take.
Wait, I know Texas was an independent country from Mexico after it's civil war, and that Alaska was originally Russian territory.
What of Hawaii? Were they a territory owned by somebody or were they just another place where we went "This is ours, deal w/ it"?

It was a republic for a few years before the US annexed it.
Hawaii was controlled by rich plantation owners who basically pushed Hawaii to become annexed.

Thought so. The idea went through my head that they were owned by the Spanish, ala Cuba and the Phillipines, but I don't know why I thought that.
American borders have mostly been a case of, we're here, we're hating queers, this is our land, fuck off and die.
This isn't so funny when I take into account that 4 of my political science professors have made comments on how we're the most divided we've ever been, and that federalism and states rights could very likely be the cause for another civil war within 20 years.
why do 25,000 dipshits get to speak for the 25,000,000 people who live there
They won't. The best the petition will achieve is a referendum. Then Texans can vote.
Let mexico secede, induct Puerto Rico as a state. Keep an even 50 states, and get rid of Texas in the process.
Would this allow them to create a currency? or would they stick with the useless Fed. Reserve toy money?
If there's still oil in the deserts of Texas, I guess so, but otherwise America could probably do without them.
Actually there's no oil in the Texas Desert, all the oil is found in the Plains and East Texas Forests.
What's the point of this petition if people outside of Texas can sign it.
Also how does 30k+ signatures on an online petition (a large portion not even from Texas) signify that 25 million people in Texas want to secede.
Why do people take this sort of shit seriously

It doesn't, it asks the whitehouse to allow Texas to secede peacefully. Key word here is allow.
I like this map, I would be in Canada without even moving!
Fuck that shit, brah. I wanna be in the EU, not Canada!
[sp]Naw, I love you Canada. You keep us warm and in check :3[/sp]
This is gonna go as good as every whitehouse.gov petition has done so far.
A huge ass text gets posted that's pretty much resumed to "Not gonna happen".
"Time for another civil war over black people"
Nice job playing the liberal race card, OP. Apparently treating blacks like everyone else is "racist" now.
You realize that that would put Denver inside Texas if we go to the Pre-1848 borders, right?
Oh wrong timespan.
Pre 1836.

What are you even talking about? He's saying that because a ton of conservatives are saying, and I'm being literal here, "Hang that Nigger in the white house, it's called the white house for a reason"
I laughed so hard I wet myself a little
Oh man, just imagine if Texas had its own government.
Today Scot learns about federalism.

State Governments are kept purposely underpowered bro.
