We're not his audience. His audience are kids. Kids with lots of free time that watch a lot of YT vids, which is why he has such a huge subscriber count. Just think about the stupid shit you liked when you were young. PDP's just a clown.
I know a few people in their 20s that enjoy his videos and watch him play games all the way through, rather than playing them for themselves. It's horrifying.

[editline]19th June 2014[/editline]
you know I can't stand more than this guy even Markiplier or whatever his name is my roommate watches him and its just constant screaming
Also a friend of mine, and while I can't really defend the shouting, I just like to imagine that Mark is an escaped cartoon. He's got the voice of one.
Felix is a cool dude from what I've seen on the "YouTubers React To" from the FineBros. Though, I don't watch his videos because I know I wouldn't enjoy them, and that's fine, but I also know the majority of his fanbase is just god awful and I think that's where most of the hate is coming from really.

[editline]19th June 2014[/editline] Also a friend of mine, and while I can't really defend the shouting, I just like to imagine that Mark is an escaped cartoon. Personally I dislike the way PewDiePie comments on his video. I think he has no talent whatsoever nor is it really entertaining at all. Nevertheless he is a cool guy and donates a ton of money to various organisations and ngos, I respect him for that.
It's horrifying that rather than actually play the games how they should be experienced, they watch a guy shouting at his screen and talking over the cutscenes.
Might as well say the same thing about people who watch sports on TV, with commentators pointing out everything that goes on, sometimes yelling in excitement over someone scoring a goal. Why not go out and play the games yourselves? Some people just find it entertaining to have a second party who can commentate. It's fun and interesting to hear somebody else react to a game that you have interest in. And who says they can't enjoy the games themselves? If they're like me, they play the games themselves, and THEN watch one of these people play it. Or better yet, maybe they just can't enjoy the games themselves because they don't have the hardware for it, and then choose to enjoy it through the commentary method? You're really thinking about this too shallowly, there's more to it than you probably think.

They have the hardware and it's literally none of your reasons, I have asked. They just like PewDiePie and think his shouting adds to the drama in The Last Of Us.

They just like PewDiePie and think his shouting adds to the drama in The Last Of Us.
... so then it is one of my reasons.
... so then it is one of my reasons. Don't through "literally" around if you haven't even read my post.
Obviously I read your post, I just worded it poorly. They don't really have a large interest in the games, their interest is in PewDiePie himself and without his approval of a game their interest dwindles. It doesn't really count since they're watching for the commentator, not the game. To address your other points: When I watch football on TV there's no option to watch it without the commentators. Playing football and watching the World Cup are entirely different things. They're not like you and they don't play the games then watch PewDiePie. They just watch PewDiePie. As I already said, they have the hardware but opt not to play these games (for some reason). Their interest is in PewDiePie and they think he provides the games with merit. That's what horrifies me.
I can't fault the mans earning. But I can still jealously hate him though and that's what i'm going to do, screaming at a camera while playing games. Fucking ponce.
... so then it is one of my reasons. Don't throw "literally" around if you haven't even read my post.
You can't fight the hate train one post at a time man, you're wasting your nerves on an argument not worth having with people who will never listen and have already made up their mind.
I used to not like PewDiePie because of the constant shouting and lame jokes, but as Coyoteze said he toned down a lot on the screaming and immaturity. I watched his The Forest video which was uploaded 2 weeks ago and I actually enjoyed the video.
To address your other points:
Allow me to do the same, in bolded text:
When I watch football on TV there's no option to watch it without the commentators. You could, in theory, mute your TV. So yes you can. Playing football and watching the World Cup are entirely different things. Kind of like how playing a game directly and watching someone else do so? They're not like you and they don't play the games then watch PewDiePie. They just watch PewDiePie. Kind of like how you (or most) don't play football, just watch the World Cup? As I already said, they have the hardware but opt not to play these games (for some reason). Because they find the commentary to be fun. It's not a difficult concept.
They think a dude is funny. You don't. HOW is that horrifying? HOW is it horrifying to you that other people don't live YOUR life? I'mma leave now. I've got to finish watching Robocop.

It's not surprising considering over like 90% of his fan base are derpy kids.
It's not surprising considering over like 90% of his fan base are derpy kids.
Like minds attract, Pewds attracts the worst of the worst because he is by example the worst of the worst. the whole "he's a nice guy" thing is horseshit because most everyone I know is a "nice" person but none of them are making money from kids and advertisements by swearing and being a bigoted retard. Good on him for making tons of money, I'm jealous because I don't get to make tons of money for what amounts to relatively nothing.

Hm? Where?
bigotry (ˈbɪgətri) intolerance towards those who hold different opinions from oneself.
If anyone's a bigot here, it's you. [editline]19th June 2014[/editline] This dual-screen stuff is great, I can watch a movie AND argue with people on the internet!

His videos aren't really for me but they're blowing that estimate on how much he makes a year out of the water seems like someone wants people to be mad at him
Not only was PDP the first the capture that untapped market of subscribers, he was the first to do it. Anyone else who came after are copycats/wannabes/etc.
Half-surprised this is still going on. Also, remember that 4chan post made about a theory that he's a surrogate-friend channel?
Allow me to do the same, in bolded text: They think a dude is funny. You don't. HOW is that horrifying? HOW is it horrifying to you that other people don't live YOUR life? [editline]19th June 2014[/editline] I guess you have a point. I'mma leave now. I've got to finish watching Robocop.
You're right, I'll just mute my TV and watch the match in silence. That solves everything! When you watch football on TV (or at a stadium) it's vastly different to playing it but not for the reasons you suggest. You're supporting a team, following your team's progression, watching the pros, talking tactics, following their careers over years and years. Even if you're playing in some local tournament it's not the same. I guess the closest comparison you may get is the difference between watching Starcraft tournaments and playing it for yourself. That aside, we're talking about the commentators so this is barely relevant. I never said I find it a difficult concept that they enjoy the commentary. It's just that the commentator acts childish and dumb, shouts at the screen and in the past has made some genuinely unpleasant jokes. They think he adds merit to games by doing this, that's what I find horrifying. I never said it's horrifying that they don't live my life but cheers for the needless hyperbole. Anyway, your argument can easily be turned around for equal effect: Why are you bothered so much that I don't like something that you do?
Anyway, your argument can easily be turned around for equal effect: Why are you bothered so much that I don't like something that you do?
I won't argue with the rest because you did make a lot of valid points that I'm way too tired to argue right now (and I should probably be asleep), but like I said before this isn't me defending "a dude on the internet i think is funny". Only reason I'm bothered is because I personally know Felix. We're friends and we've worked together. It wouldn't matter if it was him or anyone else, I'd still stand up and it really makes me mad to see people talk a lot of shit about a friend. Anyway, I gotta sleep. Peace. [editline]19th June 2014[/editline] Also, as for the "muting your TV" thing, I was just directly responding to how you can't watch football without the commentator. It was a bit of a witty remark more than an actual response. [editline]19th June 2014[/editline] Also, Robocop was a good movie. Bad start, but it got better. 8/10. I'd recommend it.

I still can't be a fan of how he acts in his videos (persona or not) but at least he seems to have toned down the stupidity lately and apologised for any distasteful jokes. Again though, I'll take your word that he's a much better person than I previously thought. (I loved all of Robocop including the start but let's not argue about that!)
Congrats to him. Who gives a shit about how stupid his videos are, this guy is making a hell of a lot more than we are.
not gonna say i'm not jealous or anything but using "he makes more money than us" as an excuse not to criticize his videos is stupid
not gonna say i'm not jealous or anything but using "he makes more money than us" as an excuse not to criticize his videos is stupid
yeah but hes the best at making stupid videos. i fucking hate them and i've seen a few but they are so excellent in being terrible. its almost art.
every female gamer i know thinks pewdiepie is the funniest mothaufka
his only skill is that he knows how to market himself. dudes like DSP are what happens when you take that away
its kinda hard to market a douche who looks like a stereotypical manchild and literally is a manchild, it's easier to market a person who acts like a stereotypical manchild but looks and is a normal dude
I need to get into the business of shitty Let's Play games, so I can retire early and do whatever I want with my life.
I need to get into the business of shitty Let's Play games, so I can retire early and do whatever I want with my life.
I'm in that business, but it's swamped with anyone and everyone that is able to record gameplay. Good luck getting anywhere unless you truly stand out (Unlike me, I'm just average). [editline]19th June 2014[/editline] Pewdiepie did an "IamA" on Reddit today A lot of questions were answered. He apparently did make $4 million in 2013.
