ebony is news centered around african americans, but it's not limited to those people.
take note of the 'insight and perspective' part

No, I get that, and I see your point, but it's like how My Little Pony was originally centered toward little girls.
the name of the website is a synonym for BLACK
its like saying BLACK.COM

like, ever
You have trouble differentiating anecdote from direct comparison don't you? To say something is like something else in a certain respect is not to say that they are 'similar'.
Example;
Like the waters of a river, the flames of the fire are ever shifting.
I am not saying that water is fire, what I am saying is that they share a similar characteristic.

it's a pointless anecdote if it doesn't make sense in the first place. i know what an anecdote is, but they have to actually be relevant to each other to make sense and be useful.
It's like "North Korean Media". I do not say that all North Koreans believe or think in a similar way to it, but rather that that Media Outlet reports IN THE NAME OF the Korean people.

A point can be teased from it if you know how to make sense of it, or rather analyze it metaphorically.
To deny that Ebony is "black media" honestly astounds me. It is literally a news outlet made by black people, about black people, for black people.
The front page of the website has 30 people's faces on it and 3 of them are non-black. 2 of those being Zimmerman and his wife.
the name of the website is a synonym for BLACK

and?
Well it was obvious he was abit of a reckless cunt before the whole murder case thing anyway.
With all the restraining orders from beaten ex partners and run ins with the police.
He's just not a nice guy at all.

it's a news outlet that provides a perspective on african american culture and ongoing events. not simply 'black media'.

So then why is it any less bad for me to say "North Korean Media"? Am I not generalizing? Can I not read it too?
his wife is guilty of perjury. why do people still listen to her?
So then why is it any less bad for me to say "North Korean Media"? Am I not generalizing? Can I not read it too?
'north korean media' implies two things, news originated in north korea or news surrounding north korea
whatever though, i don't think you're wrong. but blankly calling it 'black media' is just tasteless in my opinion and those people should choose their wording better
his wife is guilty of perjury. why do people still listen to her?
the 911 call sounded fake as heck too

By your own standards;
'Black media' would imply two things, news originating from Black People, or news surrounding black people
Sooo... what's so bad about that? It seems pretty properly descriptive of it, without being racist in the least.

i think it's tasteless because we don't have any 'white news' or anything along those lines.
'black people' can encompass a whole lot more than african americans
So far this thread has two kinds of stupid people in it.
#1 The stupid person who's first reaction is "Awww he's been through so much :(" Then
#2 The stupid person who says that this proves he went out to hunt black people one night
Jesus christ, seriously?
;42133281']Allot of people seem to think he is a little crazy now, or at least very paranoid. that is certainly understandable considering his position, but he needs to be careful. We don't know if this is true though. She has said allot about him recently and doesn't seem to be a good person herself.
Leave it to Sluggo to try and justify this.

There's nothing comparable to Ebony for white people to call "white media."

it's about as racist as calling hiphop/rap 'black music'. somewhat racist.
Stereotypes are basically generalizations, really. You can say "Most black people listen to Rap" And it pretty acurate. Of course, there are always people who don't conform to generalizations, as with stereotypes. Neither are bad.
There's nothing comparable to Ebony for white people to call "white media."
Yeah, I think the closest thing would be some sort of KKK publication, but even then that isn't comparable because I don't think that lot would approve of other races reading it as well. If someone were to make a website that describes itself as "Stories about white people, written by white people, for white people" then I would feel politically correct in calling that "white media".
Same goes for just about any group.
"Stories about X, written by X, for X" = "X Media"
haha guns
But even then again, the person or group purporting to be representative of X may not be necessarily representing them. It is a matter of the popularity of the representation among group X.
To call it black media would be similar to calling Alex Jones "Truther Media". Just because they claim to be so, doesn't mean they are, but it also doesn't mean they aren't percieved to be as such.
Truther Media is nonsense anyways, so that's not a very good analogy.
Not to nitpick, but that is practically what happens with christianity. One person speaks up "In the name of Jesus" and suddenly he represents every christian as portrayed by consumer media.
yep, and if I was christian I'd be shocked and appalled that people were using my faith to advance their own dumb agendas
The thing about the trayvon case that flies over most people's heads is that it's not black or white (no pun intended). It's a massive moral grey area that involves a lot of factors and with faults on both Zimmerman and Martin's sides. To absolve one party of guilt is to grossly oversimplify the incident. Having no right or wrong answer doesn't mean debate is unproductive or unenlightening, it just means that it's just debate for debate's sake rather than trying to find a guilty party in the mess of factors. I don't agree with the 'justice for trayvon' people, I don't agree with the people with a zimmerman hardon on this board, but I can respect the right for both groups to believe what they want as long as they don't demean, insult and put words in the mouth of the other
tl;dr it's a massive moral grey area and if you've 'picked a side' and are demonizing the 'other side' or excusing yours of obvious failings then you've radically missed the point
Well according to facepunch Martin had at least 5 levels on Zimmerman. That's a significant xp boost
2x damage for successful sneak attack too.
Looks like karma finally came back around for Zimmy
Truther Media is nonsense anyways, so that's not a very good analogy.
Well I'd imagine you hold that view because you view Alex Jones as properly representative of it.
