People crying because no women presented during the Sony announcement

i get pretty suspicious when women aren't involved
when there are no women men tend to get pretty homoerotic and gross, is that the image sony wants for their new console? a bunch of straight dudes doing dude stuff? i dont want that in my house, get that out of here.
Any female presenters I can remember have always been a clueless, largely nameless pair of boobs hired by the company to look progressive.
not to look progressive, but because they know that games will get judged based on how attractive the presenter is if she's female
if the presenter is a male, the game will get judged on how cool he is, hence why uncool presenters get turned into internet jokes.
People are all crying that there are way fewer girls in the game industry, to the point that there are even female-only scholarships at game design schools. Imagine if men tried to get male-only scholarships in hairdressing or fashion design - we'd get our asses burned from every which way.
It MAY be that there's some sexism in the workplace, and I can understand that; of course when there's an office full of men and one woman joins the team, there will be guys making passes at her. But the same would happen if a straight man joined a primarily female team as well.
At the end of the day, the number of women in these industries will increase; it doesn't need to be rushed or forced by offering special treatment via scholarships or by boycotting companies that don't raise the feminist flag as their own.

That's not how being in a room full of the opposite sex works. At all.
Trust me, man I was disappointed too...
Jesus christ, where are all these tumblr feminists coming from?
They all moved to twitter or something?

Sorry, my logic was a bit off there; I should've proofed it first

Also she had another saying that if EA does something sexist, she'll buy Activision products instead :v:
No one is winning with that action.
yes the female species simply cannot play video games as well as us burly men
females are not a different species.. but yes you are right. video games are not like your traditional sports.
but anyway my point was that, if there were no notable females this time who had come up with something for PS4, then what's the big deal? We'll see again at E3 or something, maybe there will be more womanly representation of game developers.
does Nintendo even have women presenters? As far as I know, only middle aged Japanese men and Reggie are the only presenters Nintendo has
They used to have Cammie Dunaway but she hardly qualifies as human.
Reasons?
it feels so damn pretentious. it's a bunch of rich guys sitting around stroking their ego and patting themselves on the back over how damn rich and idustrious thy are.
it just bugs me, the events reek of smugness and self-importance.
Cammie Dunaway is an American marketer. She was the chief marketing officer for Yahoo! before joining Nintendo of America in 2007 as the company's executive vice president of sales & marketing, replacing Reggie Fils-Aime in the role after he was promoted to his current position as president and COO of the company.[1] Before joining Yahoo! in 2003, she worked for Frito-Lay for 13 years.[2]
Dunaway was named one of the 100 top marketers by Advertising Age.[3] She appeared onstage for Nintendo's E3 2008 press conference, demonstrating Shaun White Snowboarding and Wii Sports Resort.[4] She also made numerous more appearances that day. Dunaway also appeared at Nintendo's E3 Press Conference in 2009.
Dunaway left Nintendo of America in October 2010.[5] She joined KidZania as the global chief marketing officer.[6]
look at your fucking profile picture
So no women on stage automatically equals sexism? No room for other considerations like, say, maybe there aren't any women holding positions that would qualify them to talk on stage?
I mean, if I were a game developer, and I didn't have any female game designers or PR reps or whatever kind of person they have to go out on stage and talk about my games, what the hell am I supposed to do? Before some smartass says "hire some", pretend that in this situation no women are in those positions because none applied for them. Does that make me sexist when it's not my fault that there are no women in those positions? Should I pull some level designer or ai programmer out of her workspace and make HER go out on stage even though that's not part of her job, and therefore she is unqualified? Just so people won't bitch about me being sexist?
For Fuck's Sake, people.
fuckin wow facepunch stop oppersSING WOMAN WE ALREAdy defented slavery and now this. ??

if you have to make up a fictional situation to prove your point you probably didnt have a salient point to begin with

wait what? Link. What did I miss
of course it's a kotaku article, and of COURSE it's written by that hack patricia hernandez
Who the fuck cares? There were no women cause there were no good women developers etc to present on whatever they were promoting this round.
I'd prefer that to them pulling up a random female who wasn't even involved in dev on a higher level to be able to talk about it properly.
Women shouldn't be included because they HAVE to be included to not be sexist, they should be included because they can do what they are supposed to be doing. If men can do it better then let them do it.

It concerns me greatly that she's an Editor-in-Chief at a website.

You don't need any ounce of professionalism or expertise to make it in gaming journalism. The lowliest, sensationalist bloggers can be "journalists".

If Naughty Dog had some Uncharted PS4 title in the works I'm sure that they would've had Amy Hennig on stage, considering she's the one who directs them.

that implies that "men can do it better". while i don't agree with the idea that it's necessarily sexist that sony had only white dudes up there, it is certainly symptomatic of an institutionally sexist industry.

Game dev just isn't something a lot of women get into. I am say IF men can do it better because in this case I am assuming they didn't have a lead dev who was ahead of any of these current presenters who they didn't let present because she was female. Therefore, one can assume that the men presenting can "do it better" as it were.
How many actual presenters were there anyway because I can't find out anywhere and from what I can find it looks like they had like... 5.
Edit:
Also why do people keep saying only white dudes, cause looking at that photo the guy in top right does not look very white to me.
Everybody knows that women are better at PR stuff because men are only good at lifting things
no excuses sony
that announcement had barely any lifting those men didn't need to be there

Yoshinori Ono is as far from "white dude" as you can get.

There used to be numerous female programmers in the 1970s, but they declined severely when the gaming industry rose. What happened?
