Can this thread now be about finding the worst examples of the term "sparkledog"? :v:
Please no. I need my sanity for later.
And mediatag that thing. I keep seeing it every time I come in here.

I wish artists like that would put more effort in shit that is actually good. :<
[editline]11:22AM[/editline]
I actually had a friend who back in middle school spent her time drawing nothing but anime and neopets and shit like that.
But now, she paints amazing stuff like this:

She's evolved awesomely as an artist and no longer dwells within the dumbass realm of sparkledogs. I fucking love that girl. <3

Some of them do, but most stay in their comfort zone and refuse to expand to anything other than animals. Which is sad, to say the least.

It's a furry site.
What do you expect them to do?
"Expanding" beyond animals is pretty pointless anyway with all the various types and styles. There's only 1 species of human.
Though there's plenty of artists on FA who don't do anything furry.

I find this guy's stuff very very interesting
They could draw scaleys?

I'm not talking specifically about furaffinity.
I mean artists who are great at drawing animals in the same pose over and over but refuse to even attempt a human for fear of anatomical incorrectness. Or who are horrible at drawing dogs and refuse to admit that their anatomy is flawed by making excuses about "style". Basically, lots of "furry" artists do nothing but draw the same thing over and over and are praised for it when there are a lot more talented artists out there who are diverse in their art and are not recognized because their works do not contain an anthro wolf.

This might just be from my personal experience but having studied and done art in college for a few years I can say we would of never considered things like this art, just drawings.

I really don't see that very often, then again I'm not an art whore.
Guess what my sister's new hobby is.
She sits down for 2 hours a day minimum drawing anime girls.
They range from standing to standing, to standing and being furry.

Yet a solid green canvas gets considered art?
Last time I attended a local art festival it was horribly disappointing.

Modern art? A lot of artists don't even consider it art.
Art has to have meaning.

After being a member of the horrible place that is DeviantArt for over four years, I've seen it time and time again. :<
There's a reason I rarely ever submit shit there.

Meh, I obviously can't speak for the entire furry population. All I know is that most of the furry stereotypes don't apply to me and from my experience interacting with other furries I perceive myself as pretty average.
Of course, this could also be attributed to my point-of-view. I tend to forgive people's faults anyway, but as a furry I can't really have the outsider's perspective on things.
Someone posted this last page:

It's safe for work but I know how people feel about furry stuff.
From my perspective, I can't really fathom why people find the picture on the right so disturbing. I mean, it still looks like a girl, she's just tweaked to look like a fox. I like normal human ladies as much as the next guy, and I happen to think that the pic on the right is still close enough to a woman to be attractive. So when someone's like "HOLY SHIT THAT'S SO GROSS" all I can do is kind of raise an eyebrow and wonder what the big deal is.

Its like borderline bestiality.

From my perspective, I see it as a fox that's tweaked to look like a human.
And I see nothing wrong with that perspective. If someone doesn't like it, so be it. It wouldn't be called paraphilia if it was normal.

It's got a snout. And pointy ears ears. And a tail. And is furry. It's close enough to an animal that if I were a man, I would not find it attractive. It's like looking at your dog in a bikini. Weird.
Its like borderline bestiality.
But here's the deal, if we were all zoo's (beastiality people) we wouldn't have even 1/100th the publicity and no one would know who we are.
So obviously it's something different. Not arguing against that point because I think it's almost pointless to try to argue a distinction between the 2 unless it's blindingly obvious to the individual.

A dog doesn't have human anatomy or shape so it doesn't have sex appeal.

The fact that it is hairy, has a snout, pointy ears, and a tail, makes me attribute it to an animal. A canine. A canine such as my dog. My dog does not have sex appeal and because it shares similarities to that picture, that picture does not have sex appeal either. Those attributes over-ride any "human anatomy" that the picture may have.
Then again, I wouldn't be attracted to that even if it was human. I'm straight.

You're not a furry. :P
You're not a furry. :P
Well dur.
But what Mr. Furry up there is saying that there's no reason that the picture shouldn't be attractive or why it is disturbing. Or at least, that's what he's implying.
There is plenty of reason why people don't find it attractive and find that an animal with boobs is disturbing.
Attractiveness is all relative anyways.
You're not a furry. :P
So you'd fuck a dog?
Ah, I see where the problem is now.
I'm saying, "It's still a girl."
You guys are saying "It's still an animal."
Am I right?
So you'd fuck a dog?
I think he's saying "she's not a furry so the animal traits override the human traits", not "she's not a furry so she doesn't find animals attractive".

That's pretty much where the debate is.
Furries see the humanistic traits and consider it alright as long as they still have boobs n' such while non furries see the animal traits only and don't consider it attractive just because of that.
But then you get the furries who actually would fuck a dog. That's where you guys get the bad rep.

So you'd fuck a dog if it had the body of a female but the head and fur and tail of a dog.

This is why furries are ridiculed and trolled. Because of people who draw shit like this.

Yeah, that's one of the toughest stigmas to break simply because of the fact that to the average observer it looks like similar subject matter. I mean, you guys were looking at a picture and saying "animal" where I was saying "girl", so I can imagine why people would think we would sexually objectify actual animals, but this is very, very rarely the case.
The rumor is in the same realm as the "violent video games cause violence" argument. A teenager shoots some cops after playing GTA. Is it more logical to assume that people who play violent games are more violent based on a handful of extreme cases, or to conclude that there was probably something else wrong with the handful of people? Well, unfortunately if you're playing a game in which you're shooting virtual cops, it can be difficult to convince people otherwise.
