I highly doubt they will do that. After all, how would they sell DLC then? It's a well known fact that the community is way better and more creative than the game producers and thus must be stopped form being able to mod the games as it will ruin the attractiveness of DLC. Fuck the fact that it will make the game more fun to play for many years to come and make more people wanting it many years after as well.
How will they sell sequels if it'll be fun for years.
One exclusive weapon that doesn't unbalance the game is no big deal to me but the Karkand map exclusive kind of pisses me off (even though I hated that map in BF2)
So if I don't pre-order, I won't get the karkand map? What the hell.
How will they sell sequels if it'll be fun for years.
Make it better than the last game?
oh no one exclusive weapon and one that is unlocked we're doomeeedddd
It still sucks that you can't get that exclusive weapon though. I remember when they had a silent spas 12 code included with preorder of Splinter Cell Conviction, there was no way to unlock it other than inputting your preorder code. And it was basically the "god-mode" weapon of the game.
God I miss the days when maps and extras were free. In the end EA is fucking themselves over including DICE because they're no allowing the community to show it's true talent and power.
I always pre-order from GAME !
Make it better than the last game?
Why would they do that? :downs:
Yeah making better games costs a lot of money
I don't mind DLC that much for starters but the whole "Exclusive DLC" shit that goes on with the stores, is what I hate the most. Why can't everyone who pre-orders the game get this offer? Why just limit it to one country?
The only time I don't care about preorder advantages is if you can unlock them at some point by playing normally. BC2 did this with a few weapons like the tracer dart, Colt 1911, and a few other things. The only time I don't care about exclusive content is when they don't alter gameplay. BC2 also did this with the Specact weapon pack which was the same 4 guns with the same stats, just reskinned. BC2 did it perfectly with exclusive and preorder content. What made them decide to fuck it all up and make content that you can never obtain without paying that can have an effect on gameplay? At the same time we're still not sure if the exclusive machine gun will effect gameplay, but something like flachette ammo will 99% effect something considering it's an entirely different ammo type. I still hate the person who came up with the idea of paid DLC on launch days.
Wow and I thought EA was starting to change. Another one of their bullshit.

God damn it DICE just give me a proper fucking sequel to BF2 without all this shite that has developed in gaming in the past couple of years.
i guess ill be buying the pre-purchase then, even though i probably cant even play the game on my current pc :/
Don't bother, I think EA will find Battlefield fans are a little more stubborn and harder to pull this kind of shit on. I doubt we'll be seeing pre-order and launch day DLC.
i'd rather not risk losing out on content, i will buy the game anyway i was just hoping to have my pc fully upgraded before then.
I wish the old days would come back where preorder was a "lite" version of collectors. Having some physical booklets and shit. It gave some bonus for preordering and didn't tamper with gameplay. But I guess since digital distribution is so popular, you can't really include real items with them. But still this is stupid. Couldn't they instead give preorders a gold skin for weapons or something? And not including the most popular map from bf2 in nonpreorder games is just so dumb.
BF3 just sounds like it's getting worse and worse. Not having it on Steam and now this is making it really hard for me to want to pick this up.

It's also the reason I'm never buying music online. [editline]13th June 2011[/editline]
BF3 just sounds like it's getting worse and worse. And where is the source to the claim that it's not going to be on Steam anyway
I guess nobody saw this: http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/archive/2011/05/23/pwp.aspx
This looks cool! What if I'm not in the UK? We will reveal Battlefield 3 preorder bonus items in other countries soon. Stay tuned.
I'm going to wait until much closer to launch before I start freaking out about exclusive content nonsense.
yea years ago when Half - Life 2 just came out and the store did'nt have Half - Life 2 games but the SE they had (which was $100 I had $200 gift card) and came with all thougs booklits and stuff and shit and the PC rank was soooooooo fucking huge with 100's of PC games
I don't completely disagree but how not having it on Steam degrades it as a game? I don't like losing my discs or cd-keys and with Steam I don't have to worry about that. I will probably end up getting retail at some point if it never ends up on Steam. This is really my only source, if it means just the limited edition that's great but I don't like missing out on content:
Oh boy, I hope they announce country-exclusive content as well!
Isn't it pretty much what the post implied?
Oh no it's only on Origin whatever will we all do? I mean there's no physical copies of it anywhere right? Oh wait yes there is all you have to do is get up off your arse and get to the nearest games shop and buy it, you don't even need to use something as archaic as money you can pay by card then you can waddle home and install it and oh look no need to fuck around with Origin past maybe patches knowing EA, and why are people only just whining now considering that the pack and Back to Karkland was announced is beyond me considering that EA are going to want to get tons of money off this so they'll just sell it later but of course most of the PC community has entitlement issues.
It's a shitty state that video games are in, with all this "buy extra shit dlc dlc $$$ maps guns" and the worst thing is that people are still buying the games, so it's not going away. What happened to paying a price for the game and then getting the full experience that you were entitled to?

And I do have a problem with Karkand being exclusive (And as you said, later DLC probably) when it's already there. It's not like expansion packs in the past when the developer came up with much new content, that would add onto an already complete game. They cut down from what they'd previously charge full price, still charge the full price + charge you for what they cut down from it. And shit it's not like it's a hat in TF2 or Portal 2 where it didn't have any impact on the game play. It's maps and weapons. And yeah in BF2 they released expansion packs as well, but it was just different themes with lots of added content. Here you just pay extra for what developer already has.
