Oh no it's only on Origin whatever will we all do? I mean there's no physical copies of it anywhere right? Oh wait yes there is all you have to do is get up off your arse and get to the nearest games shop and buy it, you don't even need to use something as archaic as money you can pay by card then you can waddle home and install it and oh look no need to fuck around with Origin past maybe patches knowing EA, and why are people only just whining now considering that the pack and Back to Karkland was announced is beyond me considering that EA are going to want to get tons of money off this so they'll just sell it later but of course most of the PC community has entitlement issues.
what happens when the boxed version requires origin to launch [sp]i know this is probably not going to happen, but some people like having their games all on steam[/sp] [editline]13th June 2011[/editline] and some people live in the middle of fuck-all nowhere and boxed PC games are impossible to find. maybe it will change for me because we're *gasp* finally getting a gamestop!

the only place that even sells PC games here is walmart. and their selection is..shitty..
Who fucking cares, it's going to be a great game. It's like with TF2 I might do the odd trading or crafting and I don't fucking care about "herp buying hats bad game Valve is worse than Activision"

Provided the pre-order exclusives for BF3 don't give absurdly powerful equipment it won't matter, but if the flechette ammo for instance in OP, then this is not okay

It makes sense why it's stupid - Steam brought Valve billions emone.

This doesn't affect me since I usually order games from the UK anyway since it's cheaper :v: Like, it's 278DKK from the UK GAME, it's 319DKK on the danish GAME
Then you look into their "ships to" list and your country isn't there.
Then you find one that does.
This is a bit of a blow for me, i can barely afford the travel to college, and am having to save money to move into a flat with a friend, living in London this is not cheap. I can't afford to pre-order a game because i don't know what my financial status will be like on the release date. Pre-order is all fine for people with a little excess money, but seeing as i have none, well pre-ordering is out. Oh, well, we can always hope that EA will do a U-turn, Dice have always been good at listening to the community and hopefully they may change there mind and do a bit of pushing towards cancelling the whole pre-order bollocks That EA are doing. The PC game franchise is a long way from what it was pre 2008.

I don't mind DLC in the future that bolts on a large amount. Look at the old call of duty 1. The expansion pack united offence added 3 new campaigns, about 4 hours worth of content and a large pack of multiplayer maps for around £20. I don't want to be paying £10 for a couple of maps when they where already there but i couldn't get them because i didn't pre-order. It just seems like a large kick in the balls from behind.
I doubt they will keep it an exclusive to the pre-orders forever. They never have before, they just release it all a month in or whatever after the hype has died and people actually just start to play the game properly.
Don't worry guys, this will not be exclusive forever. After a month or two it will be released as 15$ dlc
It's 1 gun, an ammo type and a flash suppressor. If people are seriously going to boycott one of the best games of the year because of such a TINY PROPORTION OF THE GAME being exclusive then they're retarded.
It's because of that policy overall, not just those specific items(and a map which was one of the most popular maps in BF2).

I didn't know it was already out!
It's because they can easily turn this "3 exclusive weapons" into more, slowly, untill the release with 30 exclusive weapons. And we will never react because there's no clear point where the number of exclusive weapons turns from acceptable into fucked up. 3? 5? 14? 31? Also, it's about devs/publishers who think that taking 60 dollars out of their customers is still not enough. I really miss all these games being 40, 50 dollars/euros, and nothing more. No hidden DLCs, no content you have to pay for - only the price of the game and you get both the software and a service (patches, expansions). Players must really say something against these terrible tactics. DICE is a really great company, and EA isn't terrible - of course, they aren't good either. But I think that making EA use different tactics in order to gain more money, without breaking the balance and other stuff would be way better for the community. I'd be perfectly okay with visual changes - something like SPECTAT kit.
BF3 has dedictated servers right? When the exclusive weapons are really overpowered admins will just autokick it's users, no problem.
Wow, the one game that had the feintest of chance to take Call of Duty's place, and they go and piss off all the potential customers.
Wow, the one game that had the feintest of chance to take Call of Duty's place, and they go and piss off all the potential customers.
Everyone is still going to buy it.
Surely server mods can unlock the weapons? I've been on TF2 server where you can use weapons/hats regardless of you owning them.
Dedi servers aren't confirmed though. What if they do like with bc2 where you can't host your own server and instead have to buy it from a provider?
You know, suddenly getting hats for preordering doesn't seem so bad anymore
You know, suddenly getting hats for preordering doesn't seem so bad anymore
Sad but true
Successor to BF2 this is not. Cut the bull, give out the dedi server binary and shift some fucking copies. Everyone and their dog is going to buy the damn thing anyway EA, stop tickling my chin with content that should be in the game already.
EA doesn't give a fuck.
They tried doing this with BFBC 1 and a boycott movement organized on Reddit changed EA's mind. I suggest going to Reddit's gaming section and taking part in their boycott. They've put together a list of EA executive email addresses, as well as email addresses for various gaming news website reporters.
Well at least it's not as bad as LA Noire's. They took entire cases out of the game and made them pre order exclusive.
