It's probably just Best Buy frantically looking for a reason to sue their competitor.
Isn't Best Buy failing?
copyright restricts the rate of human development in technology, the arts, and creates monopolies that nobody can challenge. for example, the tons of advanced light-bulb design patnets that companies bought up and never produced again. they did this to increase profit by selling bulbs that broke every 1000 hours vs the 100000 hours that was already very possible, there were even designs that could potentially last up to millions of hours but never tested fully.

Also, wanton disregard for even giving people the ability to say, 'Yeah that was my idea' would actually be a massive deterrent because we are inherently greedy and attention grabbing people.

Once that period was up the works become public domain and were free for use. The original design and intent of IP laws served to advance the progression of our species, not hinder it. Sadly, the intentions behind IP laws have fallen on deaf ears in modern times; now copyright laws are used to enforce the old-world principles of scarcity in digital markets and patent laws are being used as legal bludgeons to crush competitors. The remedy for this is to reduce the length of time that IP monopolies are granted before, preferably back to their original levels. As for your light bulbs example: there are business reasons for why a company would sell one grade of product versus another and none of them have anything to do with IP laws. If they sell ultra-long-lasting bulbs then they must increase the cost of them in order to remain profitable. Their studies likely showed that the majority of consumers weren't interested in paying $40 for bulbs that last 10x as long even if they were better value. It also may have been more expensive to produce the alternate type of bulb or they presented a danger to consumers.
Although this is bullshit, I have to side with Best Buy. It just smells so good in there. :saddowns:
What about ThinkGeek? They use geek in their name too.

Its funny because best buy employees are Slovenly and uninformed.
What about ThinkGeek? They use geek in their name too.
I looked up the year ThinkGeek was formed - 1999. I expected to see that Geek Squad was formed in 2004 or something, and therefore couldn't really claim trademark, but nay, it was formed in 1994.
I assume you listen to some kind of music. How many of your favorite artists would've released their albums without copyright and royalties?
I don't think any of the artists I listen to make any money.
Lmao. Musicians don't make money off of album sells. It's all about concerts.
They used to, though. That's the reason why concerts are so fricking expensive these days.
I liked Best Buy when I still had reasons to go there.
And so forth the Geeks of the Squad took revenge on their enemies ever since that fateful day... I'm actually gonna get a winter job at Best Buy. I was hoping to work in the computer department. Surprisingly some of the people at my Best Buy have decent computer knowledge.
Taking a leaf from Apple's book, are we Best Buy?
They used to, though. That's the reason why concerts are so fricking expensive these days.
I'm talking about real musicians, not people who whore themselves out to large record companies.
Hey, just because you wanna sell a lot doesn't mean you have to be a bad musician.
This just adds to why I think Best Buy is full of people with tight anuses. To think that I used to LIKE Best Buy.... you may now all shame me out of the thread. I think that Newegg should just keep on trucking and take it all the way to the appellate courts. Ride em cowboy!
thats funny because the other day i was talking to one of the employees about the price of an HDMI cable and i said "well i could just order one off newegg.com for nearly nothing compared to these prices" and he said "that website, you shouldnt trust they sell you used and refurbished items and there evil" :v:
I remember 2 years ago I was looking for places to go to to install a new GPU into one of my computers. One of the places I looked at was Geek Squad. The guy at the counter said the recommended wattage for a Radeon 4670 wasn't what the power supply should be. It was what the graphics card itself took up. That meant I would have to get a PSU much greater than the 400W :v:. Ended up going locally for much cheaper and much more skilled instillation. The guy even updated it to the latest drivers :D
My mom fixes computers for a living and you have no idea how often we'll get a computer in that was "fixed" by geek squad
ThinkGeek should now sue Bestbuy
Geek Squad is older though, if only
