definitely more artistic than the majority of the flags of other countries
Imagine children having to draw that flag in kindergarden.

The little tails (I forget their technical name) would be rather neat for a national flag.
Veni, vidi, vacate
Or, the original Venetian Republic flag: [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b1/Flag_of_Most_Serene_Republic_of_Venice.svg/500px-Flag_of_Most_Serene_Republic_of_Venice.svg.png[/t]
Italy is a young country. We celebrated the 150 year anniversary in 2011. The italian peninsula used to be divided into about 13 different states, so in general Italy is a very diverse country. You notice the change of accents and dialects very quickly when travelling and some regions are so different that sometimes you don't even feel like you're in Italy at all. So it's no suprise that someone wants independence, the unity isn't very strong.

When I left Florence (utterly beautiful city, by the way) to Rome it did feel like going into another country almost. Honestly, I don't see the problem with breaking up Italy. It's not like the regions will be rivals or go to war with each other at some point in the foreseeable future and I'm sure they would be both happier and more efficient at running themselves and their own territories alone. Of course, the southern Italian regions would have to have a bit of economic help to get started I think.
Rome is not going to just go "lol better break apart", it's not advantageous for them, this isn't Victoria II.
Eh don't worry, it'll join the EU and things would be very much the same as before.

But again, that's my opinion. ..it'd still make a pimpin' flag.
Just hearing about the possibility of the countries changing seems surreal to me.
I see, they probably want to save Italy from the costs when their beautiful little city sinks like Atlantis, which is quite soon.
Just hearing about the possibility of the countries changing seems surreal to me.
It's happened twice in the past few years.
If Italy was to split into two, that would be rather awful. The north is far more prosperous and wealthy than the south. The south is rather poor and not well developed, if you would split italy in two the gap in wealth between both sides would dramatically increase. Basically the south will be in misery and have many problems and the north has enough financial power to be better off than the south. It would be a good move from italy to abandon the south if you look it in an economical way, although the consequences would be severe. The politicial turmoil would be unreal. Although italians have all very unique and different feelings toward other counties, some of them really depise eachother. The north and south are rather not fond of eachother.
Could someone explain why the north and the south aren't fond of eachother?
Just hearing about the possibility of the countries changing seems surreal to me.
Just be glad it's happening peacefully. A hundred years ago, the lines on the map changed through war and conquest.
That's exactly what Barcelona wanted to do in an article a couple months ago and you whined about nations shouldn't be breaking but merging.
Eh it'd be nicer for countries to merge, until there are no borders left.
Eh it'd be nicer for countries to merge, until there are no borders left.
They're wanting to remain part of the EU though
Being one far apart from southern European knowledge: In what ways would this damage Italy? Besides losing one of their biggest attractions.
Loosing one of the economically stronger areas.
They're wanting to remain part of the EU though
Then the EU shall merely have to pass all 8 imperial reforms.
The veneto region is full of racists and extremists who want to secede since forever. They honestly think they are descendants of the arian race, I'm not even kidding.
Imagine children having to draw that flag in kindergarden.
That's always what I think about when I see some fucked up flag. Like the ones with AK's, imagine that being a kids homework. [editline]6th January 2013[/editline]
Eh it'd be nicer for countries to merge, until there are no borders left.
To be honest, there have to be different countries for the global world to work. I'd just like the people to not be xenophobic as fuck, and maybe even have interest in other countries cultures.
Could someone explain why the north and the south aren't fond of eachother?
North italy is wealthier than it's southern counterpart, and I suppose northerners feel that a lot of the taxes they pay are being used mainly in southern italy and they see no improvements. basically, its the stereotypical texan view of mexicans and vice versa
Then the EU shall merely have to pass all 8 imperial reforms.
I pass Renovatio Imperii.
Could someone explain why the north and the south aren't fond of eachother?
Holy Roman Empire Italy (The north) and Sicily/Naples/Two Sicilies (South).
