Silicon Valley billionaire funding creation of artificial libertarian islands

I am Peter Thiel, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... _Artificial Libertarian Island_
That billionaire is the founder of paypal. I'm quite positive many people in the thread do not know this.

I could see this becoming a place where only rich people go to escape taxes. Of course they will call it a success and the U.S. will suffer because of it.
When I read the thread, I instantly thought of this.

This wont even work as a genuine experiment on libertarianism because everyone living there will just be the rich as fuck owners and their employees. It's not a real society.

'No!' 'It belongs to the corporations and the defence budget!' :v:
Something tells me this isn't about freedom so much as it is a bunch of wealthy, ambitious nutbags who are mentally stuck in the 1870's and want to live in a place where they don't have to deal with safety, health, and environmental regulations.

no that's exactly why you should criticize him. he's a billionaire because paypal steals all your money.

It's the first three words of the fucking article.

That's also effectively meaningless as a personal credential.
Thiel didn't really do anything beyond provide startup money in return for being CEO for a while. The company sprung up out of a whole lot of little mushroomy sprouts that started with his stupid Stanford paper. Thiel isn't an innovator or a "founder" of anything in any meaningful sense, he's money that walks from place to place and tries to get more money by dumping some on startups and cashing in his chips later. He just happened to have a nice business idea appear within his own inner circle originally.
wait, so he's making /b/ and 2bt2?
It's not 2b2t until someone can hack the laws of nature.
