Does anyone know if he's going to be tried by court-martial as well, or does he just get off easy because the Philippines have shockingly lax murder laws?
Does anyone know if he's going to be tried by court-martial as well, or does he just get off easy because the Philippines have shockingly lax murder laws?
Yes, he will be. He's not done once he's done with the Phillipines, Uncle Sam gets him next.
Yes, he will be. He's not done once he's done with the Phillipines, Uncle Sam gets him next.
Essentially. He will pay the 98,000 USD and do his 6-12 years, and once he's released he will be immediately extradited to the US and will stand Court Martial and be charged under the UCMJ where he will likely be handed ANOTHER large fine and ANOTHER prision sentence on top of a dishonorable.
What a strange law. Also, the fact that he's a US Marine probably plays a huge part in this. US soldiers basically get to treat places like the Philippines and Okinawa as their own playgrounds.
This. I know Marines that were stationed on Okinawa, and they behaved like shitlords. They abused the local Japanese, stole and trashed property, and basically acted lower than animals and deserved to have the bloody piss beaten out of them for it (but never did, unfortunately). That was 10+ years ago though, so maybe things have changed since then. The Corps is supposedly different now from what it used to be, but I don't know; I don't care that much to follow it up continuously, I only know what I know from guys who were in it and are in their 30s now.
Rangergxi you do realize 10 years ago is not today. Nor would I agree that is how the majority of people behaved 10 years ago either, I've seen you spread misinformation about U.S. forces in Japan before so it hits me kind of personally, I'm just worried that people will actually take your misinformed and ignorant statements seriously.
you could try reading the second paragraph [editline]1st December 2015[/editline] being a straight man i would def be disappointed if i brought her back to my hotel room and she flopped a big ole dong out on me... to murder someone though over that? bruh
I'd be way more disappointed if she flopped out a small dong

One even saved me from a strange encounter with an old homeless lady. She was kicking some Pepsi machine's ass and saw me, and started asking me to pay her for the privelege of beating the shit out of her. Didn't know how to respond. Dude just grabbed my arm and said keep walking.
It's interesting that the Phillipines seem to essentially have two 'murder' charges, but 12 years is a pretty long time. I can't imagine he'll actually learn that trans people are human beings and not 'free kill!' punching bags, though.
(...) killed Laude one night in October 2014 after he discovered she was transgender.
Heh. How interesting.

If a member of the US armed forces commits a crime in the Philippines the US government can retain custody of the offender, even if the crime is an offense in both countries. [x] Also, since the occupation of Japan there has been thousands upon thousands of rapes by US personal. The US really hasn't taken any serious action to stop this entirely until 2013ish Previously they just had temporary measures until things quieted down. [editline]2nd December 2015[/editline]
How do these kind of people make it into the corps...? That, and the "This was not murder" smells of U.S government doing.
The Philippines is very transphobic.
To be honest I think it's pretty easy to differentiate female anatomy from male. The body isn't just a blank canvas with boobs and penises attached too it, there are profound skeletal and muscular difference between the sexes. With that being said I think you could easily tell the difference between a constructed vagina vs a real one.
Skeletal differences I'll grant you. However a sculpted vagina is explicitly indistinguishable from a normal one unless you happen to be a gynecologist. One of the only ways to tell is due to the fact that a sculpted vagina cannot seld lubricate. [editline]2nd December 2015[/editline]
The Philippines is very transphobic.
Mostly because the Philippines is one of tbe most catholic countries in the world and deeply conservative
i guess homicide and murder are two different offences in the philippines
Homicide and murder are very different offences in most places. Murder is premeditated while homicide is broad and can apply to even unintentional deaths.
It's interesting that the Phillipines seem to essentially have two 'murder' charges, but 12 years is a pretty long time. I can't imagine he'll actually learn that trans people are human beings and not 'free kill!' punching bags, though.
Its not about that. Its the fear of being others finding out or about an aspect of himself that he doesn't want to acknowledge, that made him freak out.

Got any actual statistical evidence of this because an alleged rape isn't a proven rape. On top of that, someone taking a wild guess that there may be more than reported doesn't constitute as fact either. From a quick search I have yet to find anything that proves definitively that thousands of U.S. Military personnel have marauded through Japan over the years and raped women and children as often as you claim. Seems to be the most I can gather are usually a handful a year, numbering far less than a hundred and many are less than 40 cases and has shown a steady decline each year. http://www.stripes.com/news/pacific/number-of-sofa-personnel-accused-of-crimes-on-okinawa-drops-1.332412 I am seriously having a harder time finding numbers up in the thousands over the years.

[editline]2nd December 2015[/editline] The Philippines is very transphobic.
There have been no (reported) rapes of locals in Okinawa by U.S. personnel since 2012, the time before that the most high profile case against a local was in or around 1992. What are they supposed to do? Keep people on lock down 24/7 not allowed to leave the base for 3 years? They did that once for a few months and people suffered because of it. Those temporary measures you talk about have been molded into longterm restrictions such as liberty restrictions, alcohol restrictions, and curfews which are still on going. Don't try to paint the picture of evil service members raping and pillaging Okinawan villages because it couldn't be further from the truth. You have multiple people in here who have lived in Okinawa telling you that you're absolutely wrong, so maybe it's about time you stop trying to perpetuate this lie that Okinawa is under siege by the evil scary Marines.
Once again a Schmuckatelli fucks it up for the rest of the Corps.

He murdered a civilian during what is more or less a peacetime operation.
I know this kid. He was in my graduating class. I've loosely followed the case since it first came about last year. According to the articles I've read, Joe Pemberton picked up Jennifer Laude (reportedly a prostitute) at a club and took her back to his hotel room and she gave him a blowjob. Then he found out she still had male anatomy, pushed her, she hit him back, then he choked her until she was unconscious. He states that he dragged her to the bathroom to try and revive her with water from the toilet (the shower was broken). He then left her there and she was found dead from drowning/asphyxiation with her head in the toilet bowl. Joe says she was still breathing when he left. I think he's a scumbag and definitely responsible for her death, but it's not murder. 6-12 years seems like a fair enough sentence, on top of his court-martial when he returns to the States.
Motherfucker robbed me of a port visit last year
. With that being said I think you could easily tell the difference between a constructed vagina vs a real one.
This is not true. The surgery is good enough to fool gynos at first. At any rate, it is of no importance what surgeries she had or hadn't gotten.

It's very wishful thinking, but you're right it is of no importance in this case.

You can have all the "in depth vaginal experience" in the world and i doubt you could tell unless you knew exactly what to look for.

Granted I will give you that most people don't do thorough investigations of someone's vagina while they're in the heat (unless they're going down). As someone who has a lot of 'experience' with vagina's being married, works in the medical field, and is also a Sexual Assault Forensics Examiner assistant, I really don't think they're as fool proof as you think. Jeez, I feel weird talking about this stuff so casually. Again, I will say that SRS has cone a long way.
People who murder/bully transgender people are the most sexually insecure beings on this planet. This manly bullshit culture needs to die in a hole.
Choking and drowning someone in a fucking toilet bowl and then expecting that you can get away with it because you're a ~Muhreen~. Fuck this judge and fuck the backwards-ass Philippine lawmakers who think that there has to be specialized grounds for murder.
how can u prove he invited the victim purposefully to kill etc ? 12 years may seem lax but it was a crime of passion, and its still 12 years
Can you actually say how they look "sketch"?
Well honestly some of them just look like they're not natural. My first thought would be a completely fucked up touch-up job if they passed every other way though.

If it was just thrown into a pile of similar photos i doubt you'd be able to tell
