Well no, but it means they won't go to heaven.
I dunno if it counts if you do it by accident though.
Probably not.
He was flexing his atheism.
No he was flexing his arrogance, its entirely possible to be an atheist and respect others beliefs.

I wasn't implying otherwise.
"but with traces of pork DNA"
Makes it sound like a very small amount of pork. Like perhaps using the same tools to cut and process the meat.
Shouldn't it be called "pig DNA"? A pork isn't an animal.
Who the fuck analyzed the DNA of meat in a meat pie to discover it initially?
Seriously the Doctors at the infirmary of the prison must of been real fucking bored.
Well what do you expect when the government spends £40,000 on them each. More than a pensioner receives in a year.
You really think all of that money goes to the privelage and well being of the prisoner?
instead of food they should get an injection of fat to keep them going....
See, the problem with that is, the prison stops being a prison and becomes a house of heart attacks and then you need to pay for their healthcare so that's a shit idea right off the bat.
How about we all just you know, grow the fuck up and treat them like people.
Halal. 100% guarrantee that whatever youre eating died by bleeding out from an open gash slowly and painfully.

wrong
wrong
i guess you told me with all those compelling facts.
[editline]2nd February 2013[/editline]
You perform halal, by tying the animal down and slicing its throat open with no form of anesthesia.
Im not against eating animals, in fact i rather enjoy it, but if i feel bad about animal cruelty, like keeping chickens in boxes they cant even turn in, force feeding geese to change the consistency of their livers, and so forth.
I have to be against this.
i guess you told me with all those compelling facts.
if you perform halal correctly, the animal bleeds out very quickly (and most probably goes unconscious in a matter of seconds due the brain losing most of its blood)
if you perform halal correctly, the animal bleeds out very quickly (and most probably goes unconscious in a matter of seconds due the brain losing most of its blood)
most probably is not good enough.
I want to see scientific articles that inform without question that the process is quick and humane.
But it seems like its something youre not allowed to question.

you're meant to press down on the main arteries leading to its brain to stop it attacking you, and most probably making it unconscious very quickly, and then slice it open with a very very sharp knife out of which it should bleed
slicing its throat open with no form of anesthesia
sounds more personal and less like animal cruelty than putting millions of cows on a conveyor belt into a saw machine
i think i'd take halal meat over that if i had the option

Thats not good enough either, dont get me wrong. Though i wont just choose the least horrible of two bad options.
I buy my animal foods from real slaughterers here in denmark. People who get the animals alive and make sure its done right.
Awww, poor criminals.
Its almost as if they're being given food and being treated well.
(who the fuck in their right mind would care about this, even if you do care about their beliefs it's like 0.0001 percent.)
if you perform halal correctly, the animal bleeds out very quickly (and most probably goes unconscious in a matter of seconds due the brain losing most of its blood)
It's still not the most humane method. Bolt through the head doesn't sound very compelling either, though.
I buy my animal foods from real slaughterers here in denmark. People who get the animals alive and make sure its done right.
that's really cool but sadly the vast majority of people don't have the time or money or access for this sort of thing
It's still not the most humane method. Bolt through the head doesn't sound very compelling either, though.
If a captive bolt gun is used properly it will knock the animal out for the slaughter. The bolt doesn't pierce the skull, at least not anymore because of the risk of trasferring disease between animals.
Well. Thankfully soon we can grow synthetic animal muscle tissue, meat that has never been attached to a brain or even nervous system. Completely disponsing of the nescessity for laborious animal husbandry and all its pollution and wastefulness.
Cheap, eco-friendly meat, where we can control the exact fat-levels and nutritional composition.
Wonder what muslims will think about it.

Its not like i eat meat constantly, its not nescessary, i basically subsist of noodles, bread and vitamins. But on special occations, and perhaps the weekends, i get myself some real quality meat, from animals that had it pretty good in the grassland.

Except so far the lab grown meat is apparantly shit for food since no one has worked out how to get the texture of the muscle right.

There is no good reason why it wont work once we worked out the glitches.
There is no good reason why it wont work once we worked out the glitches.
As much as I love the idea man I don't know if I'll ever be able to eat lab grown meat.
instead of food they should get an injection of fat to keep them going....
Not sure you understand how nutrition works guy
Halal slaughterhouses are a mess, the animals don't die quickly as everyone here seems to think and they quickly perform the rituals like it doesn't matter anyway. We've had hygiena problems with halal meat in France aswell, it should be forbidden in public institutions such as schools and jails.
And the whole pork thing has been introduced because of hygiena problems which aren't even a thing nowadays.
"but with traces of pork DNA"

which is even worse since that should happen with any meat or food

As long as you dont pass that thinking on to your potential children, This sort of meat could solve an incredibly long list of problems.

That's what we said about pesticides, I'll stick with my real meat.
Solving an incredibly long list of problems could start with the western world not dumping half of its food for stupid reasons. Look at your average american family diet, 3/4 of it is useless shit which could be sent abroad to countries in need.
