Not sure you understand how nutrition works guy
there should be a concoction of nutrients with no taste instead of free readily prepared meals.
Also you don't need meat let alone "praised" meat to stay alive.

I'm pretty sure that would be tantamount to cruel and unusual punishment. Not being able to taste or eat food for years would mess up your brain, probably creating eating disorders and other mental problems.
Prison is to keep people away from society for a certain amount of time, not torture them.
Secondly, we live in a country of religious tolerance. Islam is a recognized belief and it's not up to us as a society to take it away from them for no good reason.

wouldn't that be expensive and impractical though

true, maybe it would solve world hunger though.

maybe some reward system for labour could be implemented, far as I know prisoners here do fuck all.

They've tried that many times. It doesn't work very well. It's called a Token Economy, and the only result was that people would be harassed and bullied for their tokens, forced to do menial tasks for others, and drugs were shipped around prison in response to favors and future prison rewards.

But there's no insentive to work other than just boredom.
i guess you told me with all those compelling facts.

You perform halal, by tying the animal down and slicing its throat open with no form of anesthesia.
Im not against eating animals, in fact i rather enjoy it, but if i feel bad about animal cruelty, like keeping chickens in boxes they cant even turn in, force feeding geese to change the consistency of their livers, and so forth.
I have to be against this.
Hypocrisy tbh.
Would you yourself raise animals then slaughter them?
But there's no insentive to work other than just boredom.
That's why they're trying other things.
The UK is now allowing companies to set up small machine shops where they work 8 hour days for wages.
Then of course there is always educational classes.
The fact is, if you're going to take somebody away from society into a tiny building in the middle of nowhere, there is a great deal of things that are too expensive to be practical.

yea, its a good deal for the animals biologically speaking, they are protected by humans, they wont be hunted by anything since theyre useful, they are guarranteed food as long as society stands, they are guarranteed to breed, animals dont think, if they do they dont think like we do. They certainly dont mind the fences as long as theres food.

those prisons in Minority Report look effective and efficient.

That's what we must strive for if there's no "work placement" possibility.

What exactly is your beef with prisoners? They are still humans regardless of what arbitrary rules they broke and deserve to be treated as such.
What exactly is your beef with prisoners?
very skilful, i like that.
You don't think, if you do you don't think like 21st century human
people before the 21st century had cognitience, complex social relationships and hopes and dreams.
please dont equate all life, or indeed, all mammals as equal, because we arent. Humans won the evolutionary race, those left behind are now a resource to be mended, studied and hopefully responsibly exploited.
Some exceptions apply though, You can see how some lifeforms are very close to being like us, like apes and whales, wich is why i dont think you can ethically exploit them.

i like dark comedy but people get upset.

It's a test of what people care about, you see around here you'll find death penalties acceptable yet prison food is such a sensitive topic

lol its ok guys i was trolling all along!
Actually IIRC most of facepunch is against the death penalty
[editline]2nd February 2013[/editline]
also dark comedy only works if its funny or clever (yours is neither)
If they're such good muslims... what are they doing in a PRISON?
I was raised a muslim and I was under the impression that you kinda... you know... follow the same set of rules all other religions have. Don't steal. Don't cheat. Don't kill. Etc. etc.
Probably already been said, but in terms of the belief of the chance of getting into Paradise, this doesn't mean shit. Judgement in Islam is supposedly based on your niyyah, or your intentions. They didn't mean to eat something that was Haraam. So really if they have any knowledge of their religion, they should only be mildly pissed at this. They're not going to 'go to hell'.
Rather, it's more of an issue that fair amounts of pork were found to be part of the diets of people who haven't eaten pork all their lives. Problems from stomach upsets to severe allergic reactions are more of a concern than fallacious assumptions that eating some pork = Hell.
well muslims can "eat" pork if its the only thing that they can eat and so does the food that is not "halal" (aka beheading the animal while saying "by the name of god" it says all the blood from the animal come out and the meat will be clean from blood...or so they told me)

Its called not being a cunt and respecting peoples beliefs.
Well no, but it means they won't go to heaven.
I dunno if it counts if you do it by accident though.
Jews and Muslims believe that accidental, forced, and unknowingly consuming pork doesn't count.
I'm sort of disappointed in a lot of the posters in this thread. It may not seem like a big deal, but it's very culturally significant to those with an Islamic faith, and they deserve to be given true Halal meat.
Nothing to get upset about. It's just traces of pork DNA, I bet there's no actual meat in there it's just that a few pigs jerked off into it.
