Lol jesus did that except jews killed him before the bible was published :v:
Even if Jesus was real, the Bible was created by a committee of religious figures long after the estimated time of his death. If he were real, he had nothing to do with it. [editline]12:28AM[/editline]
He posted it on a fucking website he created: http://www.suicidenote.info/ fuck man he's just whoring the publicity! source: http://ken_ashford.typepad.com/blog/2010/09/the-1905-page-suicide-note.html
The best attention whores are the ones who do it after killing themselves.
It begins with a socrates quote, and ends with a fucking 10 page bibliography. Because citing your sources is the most important part of a suicide note. The last line before the bibliography is: "But I can't understand myself", said the master. Basically to sum up the last few pages, and I would assume, the note as a whole, he thinks nihilism and scientific advances are destroying all of our values, and that understanding everything to be the product of chemical reactions in the brain diminishes their meaning, and if life is meaningless, then there's no reason not to kill yourself.
Shit, now he has me convinced.

It's too bad that no one was able to help him.
it was probably awful so at the end he said "Well that was a massive waste of time". this doesn't relate to his suicide btw
Snip, distasteful and will get me banned
Interesting. I'll take a look at it.
Well, he seemed to be a great man of reason. Reminds me of Darwin with his reasons for marriage, and reasons against marriage, except this guy has reasons for suicide, and reasons against suicide.
One of the chapters in his book is called "Barack Obama: Supernigger" and another one is called "How Rome was Raped by Jesus’s Penis of the Spirit, Contracting a Deadly Virus" ....
I read 'What the hell happened to reason?' and 'Open your mind to death' and I am now intrigued into reading this whole entire book. Thanks for the read, OP.
The suicide note is kinda interesting.
Hell, the chapter names are interesting. 1066 and Anglo-Saxons keep recurring. I'll have to read this when I have a spare 2 weeks.
Argh, the note crashed my computer! I'll kill him for this
Whats the bet some greedy fuck publishes this for the money?
Whats the bet some greedy fuck publishes this for the money?
depends on how many you estimate are there computer illiterate individuals who don't realize they can have same thing for free on the internet.
Seems like a pretty smart and knowledgeable man, it's a shame that he died.
He was killed when the suicide note fell off a shelf, crushing him.
Avatar is relevant.
Seems like a pretty smart and knowledgeable man, it's a shame that he died.
what is "smarts" and "knowledge"? why do we hold "smarts" and "knowledge" to be something of intrinsic value?
The guy had mental problems from reading his terminus chapter, keeps saying he doesn't "believe" he has emotions like other people.
I've read a lot of Steven Pinkers stuff. It's basically about nature and nurture, and how free will doesn't exist and how we are entirely a product of our genes or our surroundings. We are entirely externally influenced. I suppose this guy who killed himself got what Satre called 'bad faith'.
(What suicide note would be complete without a bibliography?)
This guy has some good humor.
what is "smarts" and "knowledge"? why do we hold "smarts" and "knowledge" to be something of intrinsic value?
Do you want an objective or a subjective explanation
Do you want an objective or a subjective explanation
either or both.
I want to bring this man back for ten minutes to ask him why he spent so much time writing this when a quick slash or squeeze or knot couldve ended it.
either or both.
Because they're an indicator of the person's ability to contribute to society and also a measure of their success, which has meaning on individual level in the choosing of a partner
Because they're an indicator of the person's ability to contribute to society and also a measure of their success, which has meaning on individual level in the choosing of a partner
why are those things of value? why not choose to bum out, if that is what you want? would that make you less valuable than someone else?
You think that by the time he'd get done he would get over whatever it was.
What is it with you idiots and thinking you're so much mentally stable than others? You have to be put through a lot of mental/physical abuse to start considering suicide. Your blind stereotype of emo suicidal teenagers clouds your view of the rest of the world and how it works. The man must've done some real thinking about himself and his history in general and came to a conclusion that he wants to take his life away. It's not angsty nor is it to draw attention. Get your head out of your asses.
why are those things of value? why not choose to bum out, if that is what you want? would that make you less valuable than someone else?
Evolutionarily, yes, that'd make one less valuable. Since we're here only because our ancestors liked to breed, the appreciation for those qualities is culturally inherited, and their basics are in our genes. That means appreciation for specifically intelligence is highly cultural, appreciation for distinction and respect is also cultural but on a lower level, and at the bottom of it all, appreciating shows of one's strength and excellence is genetic.
