• tl;dr? Man leaves behind 1,905-page suicide note

Seems to me like he wanted to ponder the meanings of life, and then in it he got too wrapped up, too many questions he couldn't answer, y'know. He just assumed it'd be better off offing himself than pondering? He just had to know what lied ahead, I suppose. Damn shame he did off himself though, he seemed very intelligent.
epic
1,905 pages? holy shit!
I'm still reading :O
Well shit.
I'm still reading :O
:O So how is it so far?
I'm finding it pretty interesting actually - definitely prompts a lot of thought. Out of interest, were you looking for a more specified reply?
I'm finding it pretty interesting actually - definitely prompts a lot of thought. Out of interest, were you looking for a more specified reply?
Nope, just looking for an opinion on his long-ass suicide note, since you're the only one reading it in its entirety
Middle of college and work...And I already have enough questions left unanswered, I don't need more compiling onto that.
Was the guy really depressed, or was he just bored? The latter seem to be the case here, but I'm not so sure.
I opened up the PDF and clicked a random part. "The Healing Powers of Jesus' Spiritual Phallus" Okay then!
When I saw the guy's name, I thought it said Mitchell Henderson.
I have to laugh at the Creative Commons thing on it. Who knew he'd be concerned about copyright when he was dead?
He should've written it like House Of Leaves.
I have to laugh at the Creative Commons thing on it. Who knew he'd be concerned about copyright when he was dead?
Like I said before, the guy expected some kind of "postmortem success" by doing this or whatever... That's very attention whore-ish of him
Nope, just looking for an opinion on his long-ass suicide note, since you're the only one reading it in its entirety
I see, I'm not sure if I'm gonna read it all but I'm still reading now so watch this space :)
I see, I'm not sure if I'm gonna read it all but I'm still reading now so watch this space :)
I think I'm going to read all of it too. The "Rational Technological Creation of God" bit is what hooked me.
Fuck reading that, I'm just gonna skip the last page to see what happens
Fuck reading that, I'm just gonna skip the last page to see what happens
Well, presumably it's part of the bit that all good suicide notes should have.
I'm reading the section titled Barack Obama: Supernigger. No joke, page 675.
I'm reading the section titled Barack Obama: Supernigger. No joke, page 675.
I fucking love this book.
The whole part about Jesus is pretty interesting, too. He theorizes that Mary was raped by a Roman soldier, and that Jesus came up with the son-of-god idea in order to deny his half-Roman genes. And that he rejected traditional Jewish law because he was an outcast in Jewish society. [editline]01:55PM[/editline]
Going up against the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders fits the definition of indisputable stupidity.
The DSM-IV says that if I'm still sad about somebody dying two months after it happens, I'm clinically depressed. It isn't infallible. He looks really intelligent but not intelligent enough to not get trapped in his own nihilism/rationalism. Haven't read his book though, only the last page, so there might be other reasons for his suicide... Last I checked, that's what humanity is. Though a bit more violent and idiotic.
Good god the bibliography takes up 101 pages!
Last I checked, that's what humanity is. Though a bit more violent and idiotic.
'sactly, that's what I think too; But I still think taking away your life because you think your mere existence causes nothing but trouble (is that what the note says? if not, somebody please correct me) is pretty stupid.
That's just retarded, he reduces man to nothing more than a biological blob.
That's because you are... You are just a series of chemical and bio-electrical reactions. Don't think your something "special" haha. The man has very very good points and by turning your cheek to them in fear it just goes to prove exactly what he is saying. We as humans can not grasp the true idea of how small and insignificant we are in this universe. And by even trying to rationalize that we are run by a supreme being just shows how inferior we are as a species. We are a blip in time and space, yet everyone feels like their owed something for their existence. This man was consumed by his work because he realized the truth of our world, of our being. We have no purpose but that to replicate, like a virus, because that is what we are. We duplicate and consume in the basic sense of the words. You are a grouping of atoms moving through time and space without a cause, like every other planet that rotates around the sun, and through out the vastness nothingness. The idea of an afterlife and god are mear concepts we as humans created to steady our restless minds about death. Its a "feel good drug". When you die it will be just as before you arrived. Nothing.
Wow With that kind of talent he could have wrote a book and fill it with lies and have people follow and praise him. Wait.. QUICK! Check his grave this Sunday!
Well, time to kill myself. But wait, Class Discrimination and the Refinement of English Tribalism! There's so much i need to tell you!
