Here are my two little tips for losing weight:
Eat Less
Workout More
Weightloss magazines HATE me!
Actually eating more of the foods that "kickstart" your metabolism, and then consuming clean nutritious food to fuel your workout is the way to go
#2 is one that i think a lot of us forget to remember
kudos to this guy, a positive attitude is the key to success.
#3 is also key. Don't adjust to a lifestyle. Make it your lifestyle.

Eating clean isn't very important. You can eat McDonalds everyday as long as they fit your macros. But eating clean makes it easier for you cause if I want to eat the same amount of calories I get from a McBurger in let's say tomato's, I would be eating over a kilogram of tomato's.
Not not so much about eating less as it is about eating right.
Uhh no, you could lose weight on a fucking twinkie diet as long as you eat under your caloric expenditure for the day, obviously it's recommended to eat right for health purpose but it doesn't matter in the end when you're strictly speaking about weight loss.
Is it bad the first thing I thought of was a grandpa getting chopped in half?
He went from a sausage to a slim jim!

Eating clean is very important. There's a big difference to what you put in your gullet, and what your body uses without sending it along to be shat out violently due to an overabundance of fat oils and sugar.

As far as health goes, doesn't matter when you're trying to lose weight though.

Yeah that's called being anorexic though and purposely giving yourself calorie deficiency.
As far as health goes, doesn't matter when you're trying to lose weight though.
You are way better off being 250 pounds with a hearty diet than being 150 pounds with a calorie deficiency. It would take more energy to move your body than it would being in the former physical condition. strictly-speaking about weight-loss and not maintaining proper nutrition is only being done for the sake of being right in an argument and has no real informative value so lets stop there.
Yeah that's called being anorexic though and purposely giving yourself calorie deficiency.
What no, if you need 2000 calories a day to maintain your weight and eat at 1500 calories a day to lose 1 pound a week, that's not being anorexic, that's simply losing weight.
[editline]2nd January 2014[/editline]
You NEED a caloric deficiency to lose weight, hearty diet does not matter.
[editline]2nd January 2014[/editline]
Simple laws of thermodynamics, how can you lose something if you're taking more than you lose.
As far as health goes, doesn't matter when you're trying to lose weight though.
It kinda does. Malnutrition is not good for you.

Because you need more than calories to gain weight
HybridTheroy, I have one question for you.
Do you even lift, brah? :v:
It kinda does. Malnutrition is not good for you.
That's what I just said for christ's sake, as far as health goes it's not optimal but you can lose weight regardless of what you eat.
[editline]2nd January 2014[/editline]
Because you need more than calories to gain weight
No actually, you don't. You eat more calories than you burn, you gain weight, you eat less calories than you burn, you lose weight.
Seriously, you can think what you want but please don't spread misinformation, I've had experience in the domain for a good 3 years now and have lost over 100 pounds and bulked back another 30 pounds, I have more than ample experience on the process of gaining and losing weight and it's seriously not as hard as you make it out to be.
There's no magic involving weight loss, are you just secretly fat and trying to find excuses on why you're fat because weight loss is just fucking magical?
HybridTheroy, I have one question for you.

No because lifting weights is for people who only care about getting stronger/making their muscles bigger. I only care about maintaining a proper healthy body that doesn't strain itself and needs to consume more to keep its' oversized muscles from turning into pretty much having ass cheeks all over your body.
It kinda does. Malnutrition is not good for you.
He's strictly speaking about losing weight. Malnutrition is ultimately unrelated with losing weight, though if you're attempting to lose weight, there's a good chance that your health is a prime concern for you (Along with simple appearance). One may be overweight and be eating every vitamin and mineral his body needs, and have a healthy weight and be entirely lacking in vitamins; minerals; etc.
Holy shit. He looks no older than 30 in that picture
I guess he could be in his 30s if he had kids really young and so did they. It never says his age in the article.
edit: yep.

Seriously? Its an extremely healthy habit to do a good mix of cardio and lifting, you'll probably get stronger but you'll just be fit as shit, plus that whole 'muscle turns into fat' shit isnt true at all anyways.

You make it sound as if you can just go to the gym and magically turn into hulk.

There's nothing wrong with strength, strength is a very important thing to maintain as you get into older age. Resistance training provides benefits other that muscle growth as well, an important one being increased bone density, as you get older your bones start to deteriorate, resistance training helps combat that process and keeps your body healthy and stronk into old age.
You make it sound as if you can just go to the gym and magically turn into hulk.
It isn't as difficult as one may imagine, provided you have an actual verified routine you're following, as opposed to listening to your stereotypical muscle head.
It isn't as difficult as one may imagine, provided you have an actual verified routine you're following, as opposed to listening to your stereotypical muscle head.
If you want to look like the hulk you need diet, routine, drugs, and genetics that allow for super fucking tolerance to previously mentioned drugs. You're not going to look anything like your Jay Cutlers, Big Rammies, Ronnie Colemans, and what not just from routine or even diet. Not unless your the genetic demigod the world's been waiting for.

Losing health regardless of what you eat isn't the point, it's being healthy when you do it. Again, you using you "strictly speaking" method just to make yourself right, even though people obviously don't want to be anorexic.
Let me rephrase that, it doesn't only take calories to gain weight.
You may have experience in the domain for a good 3 years. But nutrition is a huge part of my family's life because I have 2 sibling with Cystic Fibrosis, one of which passed away over the holidays. I've had to deal with nutrition books and charts and experts coming to my house my whole life so i'm a little tuned in on the subject to say the least. My brother was on his way into MMA before he took a turn for the worse and passed away. Which is an incredible feat considering how hard it is for someone with CF to gain and maintain weight.
There is no magic involving weight loss, of course, but there needs to be logic in there if you don't want to kill yourself with malnutrition. And choosing to lose weight just by taking in less calories is very far from logical.

You what, I've lost weight from 275 to 170 with a caloric deficit, I didn't become anorexic, what the fuck am I reading, you're implying that everyone eating at a caloric deficit (Which is MANDATORY for losing weight) is anorexic?
Seriously? Its an extremely healthy habit to do a good mix of cardio and lifting, you'll probably get stronger but you'll just be fit as shit, plus that whole 'muscle turns into fat' shit isnt true at all anyways.
I know muscles don't turn into fat but they lose mass. Density before size.

No are you retarded. You make it seem like if you just stop eating you'll lose weight and everything is hunky dory.
I've been up there above the 200s before and with clean eating and bodily workouts ive brought myself down to 155 with a respectable muscle density and fat-weight to body-weight/hight ratio. I'm happy where I am and don't need to take any less than a half hour out of my day to maintain. Where as muscle dummies go through all this effort to keep themselves huge.

Nobody's saying losing weight eating whatever you want at a low calorie expenditure is the healthiest way to do it. But saying that you cannot lose weight or gain weight purely by targeting your calories is just flat out wrong. "It doesn't only take calories to gain weight". Yes it literally does. I don't care what sort of things you've dealt with in your life, thermodynamics aren't something you can ignore.
There are healthy ways to gain and lose weight yes, but from a technical or scientific standpoint losing weight and gaining weight are only reliant on calorie expenditure and calorie intake. The kind of weight you lose/gain depends on what you're eating, sure, but not the amount of weight you're gaining/losing.
It really sucks that people who lose a lot of weight have to go through surgery to remove excess skin
Shouldn't be a problem if the weight is lost gradually instead of all at once.
Congratulations, you won!

Stop assuming that because Im saying a simple calorie deficiency is not the right way to lose weight, that for some reason I'm implying that a calorie deficit isnt weight loss.

No.

Yeah, resistant joint training is very good.
using weights to lift can be dangerous though you have a good chance to fuck up your wrists long term unless you are using proper weighted gear.
