I think the point Paul Simon was making though was that English speakers using 'æther' instead of 'aether' without real reason is a poor idea since in non-English languages where the 'æ' character is used and is distinct from 'ae'. That's what I inferred anyway

Probably not, but feel free to keep posting about how it's an arbitrary man-made limit in every science thread so I can continue to get a good chuckle out of it.
