Yeah I'm kind of surprised that a cop doesn't realize you're not allowed to search people on your property just because they're on your property. You can tell them to submit to a search or be considered a trespasser and have to leave (what happens in malls), but you can't force them to submit to a search. That's called assault.
Exactly. I never said it was forced to search, I said that everything is subject to search. That stroller, suitcase, shopping bag, your jacket, purse, shoes, whatever they're searching for (as long as its consistent to avoid lawsuits) could be searched. If you dont want your belongings searched you will be volun-told to leave. You're not being forced to be searched, you're being told that if you dont get searched you cant come in.
its called "private property"
i'm not talking about the legality of it, i'm talking about the fairly creepy part where you talk about how the beauty of the mall is that people can't say what they want and you can search somebody no matter what holy shit for someone who has an obsession for the police you'd think you wouldn't get a hardon for stop searching someone for legitimately no reason and restricting speech
The US has a lot of old out of date laws that have no grounds in the modern world left over.
And they're not upheld in court either.
If it's still even on the books, it's fully superseded by contemporary laws on manslaughter/murder. Same with the law allowing Brits to shoot Welshmen but only with longbows.
Superseded? Aww shit
In short, last year they came and it got wild. This year MOA security was having none of that. The beauty of the mall is that its private property and they dont have to allow anything to happen in the mall. You cant say what you want and everything is subject to search
I'm pretty sure you can't search someone solely on the grounds that they're on private property. Either way, that post came off as really creepy.

The mall is kind of a public place, but still private property. You have no right to be there, only the privilege. You can also be removed at any time for any reason. Nobody said anything about forced searches. Say a security officer pegs you as suspicious, he gives you a choice: Get searched or get out. Now sure, it restricts your choices but you are still in control and nobody's gonna search you without your consent. [sp]that's the police's job huehuehue[/sp]

It keeps ignorant dickheads like the protesters in the OP from causing a scene in a place people go for leisure

The post is getting interpreted wrong. I'll edit it to prevent further confusing.
