The loading screen is lua based afaik, atleast it was in previous versions, i'll check if it still is

Filenames for downloads won't be though, which kinda renders the bottom part of the old style load screen obsolete.

That's due to some sort of exploit involving editing and iFrames (as I recall)
Unless you want to see meatspin posts in the news node, it's a very good thing that it's blocked

Sweet! I'm glad Garry left room for people to remake the old loading screen, that was awfully nice. :^)
I've just taken a look at my loading screen in gmod and it really doesn't work well at all. The screen doesn't update at all, so you'll get no movement on anything. It's basically just a static page.
Anything that can be done about this Garry? It'd be nice if it updated more frequently when loading, even as low as 20 fps should be fine for displaying a loading page with a few animations.

SVG fonts are pretty badly supported in WebKit, you'd get better rendering, layout and performance if you used the normal TTF version.

Well there's no point in keeping it either...
Two suggestions for the load page:
- Music should be possible with<embed src="" /> for example.
- The page is a bit laggy while loading, it would be great if this becomes more smoothly.
