You have fallen for the tory propaganda that suggests that we have no money and that austerity is the only way forward. This has been disproven in multiple studies.
The tories believe that rather than investing in our economy and infrastructure we should give corporations tax cuts in the hope that their savings will 'trickle-down'.
Well I'm certainly being trickled-down onto by corporations, but not with money.
The tories do go overboard with austerity, but at the same time the country doesn't have a money fountain, you can't just spend billion and billions without getting it from somewhere. You think the rich will pay for it? No they'll do what the French businesses and rich people did which is move out of the country and stop investing.
I think I'm safe in my choice, since last I checked my area is very much in the Lib Dem camp.
Though might I ask which nightmarish district you're stuck in that is Tory-dominated, with UKIP worms wriggling around the seat?
8th of June, huh? Slap bang right in the middle of Uni and A level exams - she's looking to gut the youth vote. Fuck off May, you fraudulent scumbag wanker.

I like this quote. I'm going to steal it for future use.

the polls are open from like 8am-10pm, you can spare 15-20 mins to go and vote

That's pretty rough. Over nine thousand votes (9269 if we're being specific) dropped from the Lib Dem camp there, while the Tories jumped up about 3k. I'm all kinds of sorry for yas.

We can agree there, I'm all for moderate approaches.
(We'd probably disagree on Labour's pledges being moderate though)

On the one hand that seems fair, but on the other hand I have a feeling she might be counting on them feeling like they don't have the time to spend on that.

Nearest polling place is about 2 hrs drive from me, and I have an exam every other day, so I gotta revise. Takes 4 hours of revision time out if I want to vote. Who even knows how fast I can vote either considering its the only place to vote in about a million km around.
it is not the tory's fault that labour are offering no decent opposition
So, what's the point of holding a snap election? This is undoubtedly a move to just secure another 5 years because labour is in the drink right now. Imagine if that happened every single time the opposition was a bit weak.
I find it deeply ironic that the Prime Minister complained other parties were using Brexit as a political game while at the same time calling a snap election three weeks after enacting Article 50 so she can use Brexit as a way to grab a larger majority.

Sign up for a postal vote. You'll get your ballot paper a couple of weeks before election day and can send it off early.

I find it more ironic that Brexit was caused by Tories playing political games, yet she has the nerve to say that.

That's not the point, Students are the vote the Tories won't win. So they're putting a barrier in the way that might disuade them from voting.
Yes the onus is on students to not fall for it and go vote regardless. But that does not make it any less underhanded.

Already did, but still thats fucked up.

Agreed, tories are the Kings of corrupt political games. Sick of it.

I think I might be able to pull a few strings on my end, to potentially help solidify a stronger student turnout in my area at least. You see, the gym I go to is right next to Carshalton College, and by extension many of the students work out there too. And funnily enough, June 8th falls on a Thursday this year, which is one of my work-out days. So on that day, I may be able to remind people to go out and vote.
Additionally, if I can convince the staff there to spread the word, I might be able to get them to remind students in the days leading up to June 8th, so that the onus of voting is on peoples' minds around that time even in the thick of the exam weeks. It probably won't happen, but it also probably won't hurt to try and use that position of exposure to make sure people take the time to vote.
It's probably just a small gesture, and most of us are probably going to vote Lib Dem anyway, but it'll still have some effect at least. Anything to throw sand in the Tories' eyes and NOT get obliterated. I won't preach about who they should vote for though, since not only is that going a little overboard, but I think I trust students to have a good idea about who they're going to vote for without me flapping my gums about voting yellow.

to get rid of any remaining 'unelected prime minister' criticism, Corbyn and Labour were actually pushing for a snap election hard all of last Summer after Brexit.
It's a valid election imo, Brexit was a seismic shift in the British political landscape. It'll get rid of Corbyn quicker too, Labour can rebuild properly for 2022 instead of being lumbered with Corbyn until 2020 and then having to wait until 2025.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Tories are going to win one of the biggest majorities ever in this election.
I'll be voting Lib Dem. Was a Labour supporter but Corbyn ruined that. Tim Farron seems a decent dude.

You mean Tim Farron who has said several times that allying with the Tories is a viable strategy for Lib Dems?

The fact anyone trusts the lib dems is just fascinating. I guess completely and utterly fucking over the students is something you can forget. Also the fact they would be extremely eager for a coalition with the Tories proves they are as forgetful as their current voters lol.

Who can blame him?
Honestly it feels like every fucking year we get some massive political event and each time it splits this country further and further and we still have indyref round 2 to look forward too.
I don't know if I can be fucked with this shit anymore. Our political system is just bollocks.
I wouldn't be averse to the concept of tearing it all down, given the legal opportunity of course. Though even if we could forcibly disband every single party in the UK and let new parties form out of the melange of different politicians, we'd still suffer the main problem where the electronic old men running the Tories and the Labour folks are still in politics. They would still exist, and would probably form the same old shit parties that we have now, making the dissolution of the big two meaningless in the long run.
What we REALLY need is a purge of the rancid old blood, and a transfusion of younger healthier blood. And while we're at it, do something about whatever lobbyists plague the country.

I'm convinced that the lib dems would have created a 3 party political system in the UK if that cunt Clegg hadn't jumped into bed with Cameron for his 5 minutes of political fame.
god help us all

You need to get rid of FPTP, just like we do.

My school is a polling station so it's not really much of an inconvenience for me. Also, first time voting, wooo

We tried already. It was a fucking travesty of a campaign.
