Anders Brevik declared sane, sentenced to at least 21 years in jail

It's weird to think it's already been a full year since the attacks. I still remember the weirdest feeling I had while I kept F5'ing the thread about the original bombing. Then the reports of the shooting at Utoya and it just felt awful.

time flies when you're masturbating to barbara streisand
Please don't start this.
He still doesn't have the ability to leave, go out with friends, and a lot more.
It's not like everyone's life is determined by where you live, just imagine if you yourself were locked up in your home and unable to leave ever.
I'm not saying you were complaining about how he will live, but a lot of people do, so I figured I'd just get my thoughts out as soon as possible.
lock me up in a cell that nice, i won't mind
I don't think that he'd be killed as soon as he got out. the Norwegian people seem fairly unwilling to sink to his level, fortunately.
I'm betting 77 families wouldn't wave and give him a bag of cookies if he got out.

actually about half of those families would just be like "oh ok" and go about their day. just because the rest of the world is obsessed with death and retribution doesn't mean the Nordic countries have to be, and it's quite frankly sickening how many people are just waiting on the opportunity to see such a place spoiled.
it's a land where you don't have to kill people to feel better about yourself, where you can commit a crime and come out knowing that what you did was wrong as opposed to not coming out at all. why is everyone so wanting for this amazing opportunity to be ruined?

Iceland is a country, Nordic would be better there.
Imagine if after ten years of prison, or twenty years, he comes out as being utterly repentant and mortified at what he did, and psychological analysis shows it to be sincere.
what an absolute boon for rehabilitative justice that would be.
In reality this is the best justice of all.
He doesn't get to be executed and happy with himself and the things he has done, and he doesn't rot in prison with no ideology change until he dies either. In time he will come to terms with the horrors he has committed and finally bear that burden upon his own shoulders. And his entire current state of mind will shatter, and hopefully, he will have to pick up the pieces of what is left of him, and become a better person.
None of the people he killed deserved to die, neither does he. He is still a human being, just in the need of some proper discipline.
I guess I just don't regard the life of a completely useless psychopath, if he isn't going to give regard for others lives why should I? He doesn't need a nice little cell for at least 21 years to make him "better". I bet the asshole knew he was going to get a nice cell too.
[editline]24th August 2012[/editline]
That's not the point. I would hope (and I would hope that you hope) that I am not so low as a human being as to desire state-sanctioned executions or the current state of our American prisons applied to all prisoners in the world.
Not all prisoners, but men who execute 69 people should pay more of a price than this bullshit. I seriously cannot find any worth to this mans life, he's just bad. There is no going back from what he did and now I look at him like I would look at a fly.
He doesn't need a nice little cell for at least 21 years to make him "better". I bet the asshole knew he was going to get a nice cell too.
Actually, he doesn't "just" get 21 years. If he is still considered a threat to society, he may get 21 more years and so on until he stays there the rest of his life.
I guess I just don't regard the life of a completely useless psychopath, if he isn't going to give regard for others lives why should I?
because giving regard for other people's lives is exactly the kind of thing he can't do? it's the thing that separates us from him. use it. flash it in his face if you have to, gloat away. just don't do what you're doing, and act like this ability is a bad thing.
He doesn't need a nice little cell for at least 21 years to make him "better".
if we're talking about making him better, a nice cell is exactly what he needs. what, you think a cold concrete box is going to make him listen in and consider that he might be incorrect and that his captors may indeed by nice people? fuck no! it's just gonna make him angry at the world and everyone in it. we don't get anything from destabilizing him other than the cold satisfaction of another man's mental anguish.

What I've read about the Mattias Flink case says more that if he'd ever be close to getting out, there'd be an outrage.
Trust me, not even peace-loving Scandinavians would like it if he ever got out

I don't think he'd be killed, like, right off the bat though. he'd probably be free for a couple of years, disappear off the public radar, then pop up in the news one day saying that some guy shot him or whatever. at the very least I think he could survive two thirds of a year.

Would make sense, considering what happened to Krekar.

Well I've been that way for 6 years and I like it so far.
I don't think that he gives a shit that he won't be able to go outside.
He gets food, entertainment and doesn't have to work.
It's like heaven for him.
I'm sure your numerous psychology sessions with him prove that.
I think he is a danger as long as multiculturalism is supported by the democracy. If his ideology somehow ruled Norway, he would be peaceful.
I think he is a danger as long as multiculturalism is supported by the democracy. If his ideology somehow ruled Norway, he would be peaceful.
If his ideology ruled Norway, Norway would be a fascist state. If he also was in charge of the government, I don't think he would be particularly peaceful, especially not to foreigners/dissidents.

Like many facepunchers already are?
how the people who honestly believe that human beings like this are incorrigible, the system works, norway's prison system is broken, and brevik should be killed don't see the very creepy parallels between themselves and a certain someone is entirely beyond me
That actually sounds like a pretty nice place to live.
[editline]24th August 2012[/editline]
Yeah I know, I just wanted to say that before someone was all "21 years is not enough for that monster!"
I bet the prison inmates are dying to kill him plus he should have been sentence to life imprisonment
I bet the prison inmates are dying to kill him plus he should have been sentence to life imprisonment
jesus fucking christ does nobody read anymore or something?
first off, he's being kept in solitary confinement. secondly, prison inmates aren't taught that everyone but them is a scummy person like in the rest of the world, so they're more or less just regular people. finally, he most likely IS getting life imprisonment, but Norway is smart enough that they'll check up on him every 22 years.
fucking READ goddamn

His jail cell.
Man look at that palace them dirty communists are giving him a luxury hotel room on fellow tax payer money, what a bunch of nazi communist homosexual terrorists.
21 years in a state-paid hotel thanks to Norwegian pseudo-socialist laws and that leftie soft-on-crime attitude.
Ah fuck someone made that joke before me.
[SUP][SUP]Wait he was joking right ?[/SUP][/SUP]
Like many facepunchers already are?
He's not gonna have Internet ;)
So let me rephrase: How would you feel if you were locked up in your home, unable to leave (ever), without Internet, phone, or anything like that?
Suddenly not so attractive to Facepunchers after all I think.
, without Internet
kill myself
I'm betting 77 families wouldn't wave and give him a bag of cookies if he got out.
I don't think the alternatives are mob wanting to kill him OR them waving and giving him a bag of biscuits.
There are mediums, you know.
I would never have a treadmill against a wall like that, it would devour me.
