Where you can receive lovely emails such as "I BANGED YOUR MOM NOOB" and "Y U HAX"
This better not affect my ancient @msn.com email address.
I use Hotmail. Don't bother with Yahoo or gmail even though I have email addresses for both
Good bye @hotmail.com (2005-2012) Hello @outlook.com!!
They locked my account for some 'fraud' reason over a month ago and still won't let me get it back. I use it to get emails, I hardly ever send them.
if it stays this clean i may consider switching from gmail.
I still like my hotmail.co.uk address but i suppose its time to get my actual name@outlook.com
Changing your password is so much easier now, holy shit thank you so much microsoft

updated icons for IE9/10 users
Really want a 2 step verification process like Gmail. Not a fan of the current text system. An app for android/iphone would be better.
i actually like the look of it.
Neat, my workplace uses Outlook.
Though we still have XP, IE8 and the Outlook seems to be 2007.
Awesome, just switched, like it a lot more than my old, difficult-to-type email that I created when i was like 12.

iPhone has outlook inbuilt out of the box, just go to mail and use apples default mail service, I know you may want another app just for outlook and shit but imo the mail app is pretty good

Nah i'm not talking about a mail application. Talking about the security login side - http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=180744
Hotmail had single sign on - you put in your number and they text you the code (charges may apply)
Gmail - has an app which randomly generates a code every 15 seconds and you enter that in.
(Just thought i'd explan it a bit better)
the new messenger chat is so sexy now, but I hardly use it anymore
The :) face really looks like :downs:
Fuck, there goes my yodarulesall(at)hotmail.com. You served me well over the years and you will be missed when the plug gets pulled.
Crap, now I have to update my resume with my gmail one instead of my work hotmail...
No IMAP support and passwords limited to 16 characters, not exactly state of the art.
The UI is nice though, and so much faster than Gmail.
Dislike the massive ad on the right of my screen.

Umm, you can still keep the @hotmail.com address if you want to.

adblock plus
Pfft, completely renew the backend of their mail service. Still have not a single clue about what this thing called 'IMAP' is. Stupid cunts.
Well I think they're renewing the backend, since the hotmail service is changing to outlook. They're not just changing the UI, are they?
If there is one thing Microsoft is most terrible at, it's GUI's and presentation in general. Outlook does look decent though...

No, only the server's different, both run Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.4675) which is a version number from at least January 2011.
The mails come from col0.hotmail.com for Outlook instead of Hotmail's snt0.hotmail.com.

It's still the same software from March 2010: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976323/en

<3 Thanks
already made an account with a name i always wanted =D
Outlook.com also works with live messenger, just wondering how the phase out process will be like. I mean if the hotmail.com part stays, then its not exactly phasing out.
Users who want to upgrade can choose between keeping their existing @hotmail.com e-mail address or switching to @outlook.com. Switchers will still receive mail sent to the old address, Microsoft said.

So it looks they'll keep the hotmail.com domain, but if you try to browse to hotmail.com it will redirect you to outlook.com after the phase-out (the hotmail.com domain will only be used for receiving mail)
Meh, I've been using Hotmail for like.....I wanna say 8 years. I don't recall when it came out so that may not be possible but I know I've been using it for a long time. Never had any real troubles with it, it's always been a fine mail service for me. As long as my account is still fine (and it appears it will be) I am happy to support Microsoft in whatever moves they make forward in the Email market.
I wonder whats going to be the fate of MSN messenger. Will it finally be replace by Microsoft Lync or not.
The icon at outlook.com is like the one at lync (ie the red/green line on the left)

Windows Live Messenger / Lync are annoyingly bloated, would like it if they too got the minimalistic treatment.
