If I had one of those I would make a to scale replica of every single video game character. It would be awesome if you could even make to scale mw2 maps like that. [editline]14th November 2010[/editline]
First of all you are completely forgetting human nature and how its always possible for a crazy individuals rise to power. If everything would be reliant on machines using EMP's you could destroy entire economy's and destroy a HUGE amount of food supply. To get to this point would take YEARS not 100 but earlier a 1000. I truly do not understand how you can be so naive and trust humans to not fuck shit up at any given opportunity. At this point saying that 1000's of people losing they're jobs is also just insulting to them. Besides I doubt the cars are even safe the material of the body is quite likely extremely light and fragile. What do you think would happen if a SUV would hit this tiny car. Besides every human is different there is always crazy people that enjoy doing fucked up things. In a world where everything is available including knowledge what would stop a single crazy person of dropping for example an EMP bomb. Nothing AT ALL. Knowing human nature there would also be a HUGE amount of people who would not enjoy this style of life. Bored people do things they are not supposed to do. Also how do you plan on doing law enforcement the people would be too lazy and the cops couldn't detect crime properly. All in all this idea while a nice thing to day dream about thats all it is a dream that will either never be achieved or will suck just about as much as this life.
Give the machines faraday cage like shielding, problem solved. You should also know that the U.S. military has already EMP proofed most of their equipment.
now, put the new Google technology for a self-driving car and now we're in business
Usually futuristic cars look shit but that doesn't even look that shabby. From the front at least.
mother of god roddenberry was RIGHT
Yeah because there are no such things as software bugs which require people to fix
Machines fixing machines. Why not? People have software bugs too, you know. It's called a mental disorder. We have other people that help to fix those "bugs". So there is absolutely no reason that machines will not be able to fix software errors in other machines, when they reach a sufficient enough level of Artificial Intelligence.
The coolest thing about 3D printers is that you can build a house with a full interior, and have no doors or windows.
The coolest thing about 3D printers is that you can build a house with a full interior, and have no doors or windows.
You can do that without a 3d printer. Just take a bunch of walls and put them together. Not to mention it's impossible to 3d print such a huge object like a house in one piece.

There's always cracks and holes. Plus, no nails or screws are needed.

And you would need cracks or holes anyway if you want electricity or other services. If you don't, why would you need such a house anyway?
Man. This right here is future shit. First this, then things like the Duplicators from Star Trek.
I doubt this will get take over car manufacturing ever. Too many jobs would be lost.
Nah. It will just give people the choice between the "cheap car" or the traditional "hand made" car by "skilled craftsmen".
Article writers name has "Ford" in it. :smug:
Ever heard of a little thing called a nuclear bomb? And there's no way can slap a Faraday cage on ever single piece of electronics.
Okay so, machines will never fully replace humans because humans will nuke the machines, forcing themselves to go back to work. Honestly, if we had bad seeds, why wouldn't they nuke us now?
If machines get enough ai to repair and bugfix other machines, chances are they will nuke or kill us first.
Why would they nuke us?
Why not? If a machine is intelligent and can solve dynamic problems, it sure would find us as a problem.
Why not? A machine doesn't just suddenly "decide" to go against it's code. [editline]15th November 2010[/editline] when you get a seg fault, your compiler doesn't cause your computer to grow arms and strangle you.
