No offense, but yeah having my respiration significantly impeded and being exposed to a horrible smell for no good reason does pretty much ruin my time, as it does for most people who don't have an asphyxiation/scatology fetish.
It smells figuratively like shit, but not literally. Thanks but no thanks for the assumptions. Also, how does someone standing outside smoking in a designated smoking zone ruin your time?
It smells figuratively like shit, but not literally. Thanks but no thanks for the assumptions.
Where did you pull the word "assumptions" from? There are no "assumptions" being made here, we've all smelled cigarettes and they definitely smell pretty disgusting
I don't get why people are hating on smoking so much - sure, it's not healthy, sure, you don't want to do it. But sorry, why shouldn't other people smoke? And why should they be looked down upon for smoking? Seriously, some of you need to get your heads out of your arses because people smoke for various reasons initially and then have trouble quitting, granted, the parent is in the wrong here - should the child be removed instantly though, or after multiple visits to check up? Seems irrational.
Fuck you back, I don't give a shit if you're that guy who sees a smoker in the street and casts their nose up in disgust. Walk away. Judge these smokers, don't suddenly throw the blanket over us all. I 100% will not smoke around anybody with children, children themselves or anybody expositions to breathing ailments. You're not gonna get lung cancer from walking past a smoker either. [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] Lmao I bet you're such a fucking blast at parties and in the real world. You respect people who turn to e-cigs, that do more harm than good to their insides, because at least you don't have to smell the smoke? What is it with Facepunch being pro-some of the most controversial things in human history, yet completely unanimously shun cigarette smoking with bigoted opinions and opinions presented as facts? Because what is stress... (User was banned for this post ("Flaming/Rude throughout the thread. Smoking kills btw." - Swebonny))
I do find it funny he is banned for being rude, when others are being quite rude themselves. I mean, I hate smoking too, but the bias is hard to miss.

If there were groups of people that just stood on street corners and determinedly tried to rip consistent clouds of farts nobody would be saying "it's important they have a right to keep doing that", and that's not even considering any health implications.

I haven't seen someone get that defensive/agitated over other people not liking being around smoke outside of the equivalent vaping discussions

You're saying I should be smoking inside my own house and that's it? There's plenty of other shit you could say that about too, but I suppose that's the perk of having freedom, you can pretty much do what you want. If I want to smoke whilst walking to catch a bus instead of finding a quiet corner and missing said bus then I will, although I don't purposely blow it in peoples faces, I literally just exhale, so I'm sorry if it does catch anyone but I'm not going to miss a bus and I'm not going to stop smoking, it gives a nice release from work and it's also hard to stop.

Wait, no, that doesn't exist. Smoking in public places is gradually becoming more restricted legally in most first world countries for good reason, and you're going to have to deal with the fact that you won't get to force your shit on other people
Well, most people who smoke do smell like rancid garbage bins but if you read my post more carefully I was more referring to the smell of someone who's actually smoking, not just someone who smokes. If you're hygienic and don't smoke around other people, great, there's no problem
Not really, no? Most of us shower and bathe like, you know, everyone else does. On top of that, cigarette smoke doesn't make you stink unless you smoke continuously within an enclosed space, where it festers and settles into fabrics and whatnot. If you stand outside, smoke, and then go back inside, then you're not going to stink from it either. At least your body won't stink from the smoke, because it's an open air environment and the smoke is dispersed. Worst problem I have with cigarettes is the way they make my breath smell, which is why I always carry flavored cachous around with me. Plastic filters seem to help against the bad taste too. The smell of the smoke never has bothered me, even when I was a kid and grew up around my mom, grandmother, and an assortment of old fashioned aunts and uncles that smoked everything from cigarettes to cigars and pipes. Everyone's different though. Some people are more sensitive than others are. That's like weed, I can't stand the way it smells. I had a friend who smoked it pretty often, and he had no problems, but as soon as I smoked a cigarette, the smell started bothering him. I smoke under a quid pro quo system, and I drink the same way too. I won't bother you with my habits, but I expect you not to bother me with your habits either. That's a fair way of sorting things out. [editline]1 June 2015[/editline] If people are this offended by smokers, are they just as offended by drunk people? Personally, I've always found drunks more obnoxious, because of how loud and cocky many of them get. And aggressive as well; smoking at least doesn't do that to you or impair you the way alcohol does.

If I want to do something that will negatively affect people around me, I'll be polite and wait till I get home.
If people are this offended by smokers, are they just as offended by drunk people? Personally, I've always found drunks more obnoxious, because of how loud and cocky many of them get.
Drunk people can definitely be obnoxious, but that's very dependant on the person and you're not allowed to be drunk in public aside from in places like bars where one of the services they offer is getting you drunk :v:
I don't give a shit if people smoke, I really don't, but if smokers aren't considerate of others around them, I start to give a shit. Whenever I breathe smoke in I can slowly feel my throat start to constrict and makes it hard to breathe. It's awful and I don't understand how some people can put up with it.
My parents made me carpool with my neighbors for a few years in middle school, they always had the windows closed (unless it was hot), and smoked on the way to the school, not to mention I was almost late to class everyday because they always left way too late. I was too much of pussy back then to ask them to stop, and I consider it a miracle that my asthma didn't fully develop.
its crazy how many people smoke here in Germany. It's like being in some developing nation like Indonesia or something, they all just smoke themselves out
Unless you only smoke on occasion, smokers tend to always reek of smoke and I find that revolting. When you get in an old car or house you can always tell whether or not it's been occupied by a smoker because it smells like ass. [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] I don't care if people smoke, I'll smoke a cigar if the occasion is right, but you can't deny it smells terrible.
I've always loved the smell of smoke and if I'm smoking in a somewhat more public area it'll be flavored tobacco, I always smell like sweetrolls when I go to concerts v:v:v But does smoke really smell THAT bad to non-smokers? I probably like it so much because I grew up around a bunch of occasional smokers but there's something just comforting about it to me. Especially pipe smoke or a hand-rolled one.
Where did you pull the word "assumptions" from? Try reading what you defend before you defend it.
I've always loved the smell of smoke and if I'm smoking in a somewhat more public area it'll be flavored tobacco, I always smell like sweetrolls when I go to concerts v:v:v But does smoke really smell THAT bad to non-smokers? The smell doesn't bother me much even though I don't smoke, although it's kind of gross to breath the second hand smoke directly
Fuck smokers. No I DON'T want to get fucked over by second-hand smoke thank you very much.
The actions of one stupid fuck = literally all smokers nice one i dont smoke though because it's unhealthy
Oh sorry, usually when someone says I have a "Scatological" fetish because I smoke, I find that to be a statement full of assumptions that are hollow as can be Or do you think that all people who smoke invariably have a shit fetish? Try reading what you defend before you defend it.
I never said you or any smokers had that fetish, I said that most people who don't have it don't like smelling shit. If you're gonna smoke, do it somewhere that nobody else has to smell or inhale it and that way you're only hurting yourself.
Honestly, you can't dodge the fact you implied that only people who have such a fetish would bother smoking or being around anyone who dares smokes. You said it, you can take it back but you said it. And every fucking time I say I smoke I say I do it where I'm supposed to away from people like you, but you're still overly hostile about it. Say you aren't but you don't say someone has a shit fetish unless you're hostile.
asteroid, stop being so direct about the word shit, abyss, stop focusing on the word shit. 'smells like shit' is a common phrase for any awful odor regardless of whether or not it smells like feces smoke smells toxic, irritating, and otherwise repulsive to most non-smokers, end of story. Heavy smokers smell of smoke even when they're otherwise well cleaned up, It's ingrained in clothing, skin, on your breath, in your car, all over the house, and despite you being used to it, it has presence for everyone else.
I wonder if he's addicted due to the extreme level of second hand smoking.
That's not how it works.

I'll walk you through it to make it clear.
No offense, but yeah having my respiration significantly impeded and being exposed to a horrible smell for no good reason does pretty much ruin my time, as it does for most people who don't have an asphyxiation/scatology fetish.
Their statement is that people who have "have an asphyxiation/scatology fetish" are the types that don't mind bad smells/their respiration being impeded, to put it in a more simply understood way, but it was clearly just meant to communicate that it'd be silly to say that there's no reason people should be bothered by it.
and it's also hard to stop.
Question, whose fault is it that you started? Another question, why not switch to vapes?
Yes, I agreed it figuratively smells like shit. How does having a scat fetish not imply LITERAL shit?
figure of speech, stop being pedantic [editline]1st June 2015[/editline]
everyone knows vapes are fuckin gay you moron
go away

I never said there was no reason to be bothered of course there is. There's obvious hostility here and I'm truly sorry you can't see that.
figure of speech, stop being pedantic [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] go away
I really don't think "smells like shit" is equal to "you have a scat fetish"
The scandinavians got it right. everyone should ditch cigs for snus, problem solved and no more lung cancer or annoying smoke!
