Impossible: Google+ Becomes Second Largest Social Platform, More Impossible: They measured it by ACT
how is active defined?
% of global internet users in the past month
I realy like G+ for the groups, a function I NEVER use on FB. Also those circles are so much better than the FB stuff, quick and easy. I know FB has the same functions but everything is so... old-fashioned.
how is active defined?
By asking users if they are active on the sites.
I love Google Plus, but none of my friends use it. I am all alone on there ;_;
I have a really hard time believing its bigger then Twitter, cause Twitter is pretty huge. I know Twitter has a huge inactive base/spam but its active user base is pretty large too
I think the reason people underestimate the size of Google+ is because a lot of the communities are groups of random people from across the internet with similar interests, it's not just clumps of IRL friends like Facebook is. For example Google+ has a MASSIVE photography community, enabled by the vastly superior image sharing experience compared to other networks.
Also, these community circles make it very easy to have a nice, long discussion in the comments on a focused topic, something you rarely do with internet strangers on Facebook and something that's impossible to do on Twitter owing to the complete lack of organization beyond hashtags.
I really hate the way Google+ works with circles and all.
Why can't we just keep things simple?
The circles are what's awesome about Google+.
i swear, half the thread is asking the same three questions over and over again ("how is data collected", "what's active mean", "are they lumping in YouTube/Gmail/Google Play/Picasa")
with all these repeats it's like I'm really on Facebook

WAIT I SEE IT NOW
All these repeats are really just a clever Facebook joke! SH, you're a bunch of fuckin' geniuses.
It wasn't a matter of how they would flourish but when they would flourish.

The only feature I use often is Google hangout. Screen share is like the best thing ever.
well all my friends at school always say get on google+ for some hangouts or some shit
just use skype you bastard
Just checked out G+. It's actually quite good, a welcome replacement for that other cancerous network site.
I'm not into social media but I could see this coming a mile away even a year ago.

Skype makes you pay if you want to have a group video chat. Not to mention it's bloated, unstable and insecure.

But some people just want one simple friends list, nothing more nothing less.

Then you don't add people into circles. What is so hard about that?

I don't understand how YouTube is after Google+, isn't it way more popular?
Unless it relates strictly to the social side(aka commenting on youtube vids, and not just viewing)
