I'm afraid I don't understand.. this isn't much different from all those people complaining about those cash shop MMO's where people can just buy their way to glory? Isn't this just like that? Cause let's face it if this is added of course people will be putting shit up on there in hopes of making money. I mean it sounds really innovative and cool, but essentially isn't it just giving that same advantage people complain about in cash shop type MMO's? It seems like this is suddenly OK because players are the ones making the cash, not the company.
Because buying on AH like this doesn't break game's economy as much as pumping infinite number of items into it? I mean those items still have to be found. Limited supply. And ofc blizzard will be taking % of the bids. Why wouldn't they?
No, no one's actually going to buy these things with money, and if they do it'll be for really cheap prices like two cent.
Have you been living under a rock or just never heard of the team fortress 2 store?
Now im sort of hoping for EU and US only servers..........so we can get a chance to get the items and potentially sell them before some Asian farmer comes along and annihilates they're value.
Also, modding will be prohibited as said by Blizzard.
No, no one's actually going to buy these things with money, and if they do it'll be for really cheap prices like two cent.
There's loads and loads of 1: unreasonable people who spend unreasonable amount of cash for futile things because they want it now and 2: rich people who just enjoy buying lots of things, which is unreasonable, but if I can get the money going my way I won't whine (at least until it's in my pocket). That modding, that's a pretty.. Odd decision to say the least, when you know how far modding has gotten diablo 2, it wouldn't still be played to this day if it wasn't for the mods. I think that's a possible wrong move, but I'm not in their seat so ey.
Oh no.
Oh come on, the prices of the items will drop to 1 cent each in 2 weeks because all the fucking farmers. You just can't profit from this.
The more I hear about diablo 3, the less of a shit I give about it. I was hoping it'd be great, but Actiblizzard had to be all 'whoop' and go loopy with it's "NO MODS. ONLINE ONLY. GO AWAY" policy.
I like how you need a constant internet connection now too. Way to go Ubisof- I mean, Blizzard.
Second Life 2
I find this incredibly cool. I can see a group of friends creating a small market clan and making some serious cash from this.
Second Life 2
I've always wanted to be a barbarian :v: Paladin's are p.gay though.
If playing Spiral Knights has taught me anything, there's plenty of people in the internet with that violent phobia of having money.
Good move putting in an auction house. Gold needs to become valuable in Diablo III, it was worthless in Diablo II.
I'd be surprised if Bobby Kotick and co. didn't take like a 2-5% cut from profits though.
This can be an ok thing if they actually keep your characters instead of deleting them after 90 days or whatever.
I'm not okay with this. Also, Blizzard needs to give a release date.
I'd be surprised if Bobby Kotick and co. didn't take like a 2-5% cut from profits though.
they do they take a auction fee for every item being sold
I'd be surprised if Bobby Kotick and co. didn't take like a 2-5% cut from profits though.
they do, there's a charge for selling your item they take a certain % the following is taken from MMO-champions blue post news article. What’s Blizzard’s cut? As with other online auction sites and real-world auction houses, our fee structure will vary by region. However, we plan to collect a nominal fixed transaction fee for each item listed in the auction house. This fee consists of a fixed charge to list the item, which is assessed whether or not the item is successfully sold, and an additional fixed charge that is assessed only if the item is sold. The listing portion of the fee, which helps encourage sensible listing prices and discourage the mass posting of items that are very low quality or would be of little interest to other players, will be waived for a limited number of transactions per account. For players who opt to have the proceeds of their auction house sales go to their third-party payment service account instead of to their Battle.net account, Blizzard will collect a separate “cash-out” fee. Specific details regarding these fees will be announced at a later date.
Huh, this is a really clever idea. Might well have tipped me to buy it.

I don't think this is a good thing. It'll mean more bots and people just trying to farm stuff and you know that they're going to want real money and not care about gold so the amount of in game gold you would have to pay would be MASSIVE or the seller might not even take gold. Also RPS said this game is also going to have an always online DRM It seems like a cool system at first but it won't go long without tons of people trying to abuse it.
Edit
So say you’re a witch doctor and you’ve just found an incredibly rare, incredibly powerful axe that only barbarians can use. In the previous Diablo games your best option might have been to sell the axe to an in-game vendor,
Heh
Guild Wars 2 just keeps looking better and better.
They're not very similar.
I'm in support of this idea. This is just about the only way they can have a real impact on third party gold/item selling and scam artists (which D2 was loaded with). The d2 community went wildly out of control with scams, dupes, spambots and hacks, and I'm glad blizzard is actually now taking some steps against this garbage. While bnet 2.0 has it's downsides, it'll make it much easier for them to control and stop bots and spammers than in Diablo 2. I also don't see where the "funny" is in blizzard taking a small cut, while you did spend the time to get the item within the game, you're using their private service to sell and make a profit from their in game items, and not only that but since this is a blizzard service they have to have people working tech support for it. I'm sure you don't laugh at the idea of paypal taking a cut out of your profits when you use their services so I don't see how this is radically different.
Real money for Diablo 3 items will end up in the bitcoin and black market realm supplementing child pornography. And that is why I won't buy Diablo 3.

But this does not bother me as much as the fact that they will have an always online DRM system, as I don't, never have and never will play a Diablo game online(By online I mean on battle.net).
Did the beta come out also? I'm confused.
Thoughts, second one: "That's retarded." Thoughts, second five: "OH GOD YES."
