Police already get loads of support from both the public and the state. Blue Lives Matter implies there is an ongoing threat against cops and there isn't.
You cannot be a supporter of both.
This is ridiculous.
Part of the BLM movement has included increased prejudice of police. As a result of this people who are outraged by the claims of the movement have enacted harm towards police.
The blue lives matter is simply a response to the violence directed at them. This also just in, the police have the law on their side.
So effectively, you poke the bear, you get fucking mauled. No shit, right?
That being said. You can support the original message of black lives matter while still supporting the fact that people cant enact violence on a public serviceman.
To try and say otherwise is complete bollocks.
You cannot be a supporter of both.
Only the Sith deal in absolutes.
I don't think Black Lives Matter is anti-police?
Only the Sith deal in absolutes.
Thats a true life lesson there bro. Starwars trying to teach us stuff.
I don't think Black Lives Matter is anti-police?
True, but people have been using BLM as a platform and spinning it to fit their narrative of violence towards police.
Mind you, these are teh same people that would enact violence toward police regardless of a platform to stand on.
I don't think Black Lives Matter is anti-police?
Nor is Blue Lives Matter anti-black (lives matter).
Congratulations, you found the point.
Really, I see blue lives matter as mostly a knee-jerk reaction. Police getting shot is a problem just as the cause BLM fights for is as well, but I haven't really heard much aside from "ARM THE POLICE, PUT THOSE VIOLENT THUGS IN THEIR PLACE" which historically is just going to make things worse for both.
BLM at least, especially when we look outside of riots and protests (where more primal reactions are to be expected) generally do offer solutions that seem like they'll help.

If only black lives matter got legal support as quickly, or at all
If only black lives matter got legal support as quickly, or at all
Well African Americans are already a protected class. What more do you want?
That's not true and you know it. It's in the name -- it's a direct response to "Black Lives Matter". It's the same thing as "all lives matter". It's true, but it trivializes and silences the original movement. You cannot be a supporter of both.
No, it is true. That why I said it.
Well African Americans are already a protected class. What more do you want?
It'd be swell if there were less incidents of police brutality against black people
It'd be swell if there were less incidents of police brutality against black people
That's 100% true. But if I'm not mistaken those laws are already in place.
Well African Americans are already a protected class. What more do you want?
policies protecting people from police brutality, further protection against institutional racism etc
[editline]8th March 2017[/editline]
Yes you can. Blue Lives Matter does not diminish the Black Lives Matter movement or vice versa.
no, but as a response it's pedantic and irrelevant.

It's a reaction to the anti-police sentiment and violence against police in the US. That's all there is to it. It's just a way of expressing appreciation and support for law enforcement.

and rejecting the idea that there's a major systemic problem in the police force. everything is A-okay

Okay but I don't care about people saying they appreciate and support people. I only care how they propose improving things.
But I guess you guys aren't going to believe that no matter how many times I say it, so believe what you want i guess

I get that in your mind every cop is a racist, but that's not reality

There is no "anti-police sentiment" in the US. People are fairly criticizing law enforcement for being quick to use force (particularly against minorities but it is a problem in general) and right wingers have spun it into an attack on police because they have what is called a persecution complex.
I repeat, violence against police officers is statistically lower than it ever has been.

That it's nothing more than support for law enforcement. It doesn't mean you can't criticize them or that you agree with everything they do

Show me some data my friend. Because that's not what I'm seeing

The only reason I'm responding to this is to end any hope you'll get a response for this bait strawman.

it's support for them as they are. the police are not a race, any prejudice against them HAS A BACKSTORY, there's a reason people don't trust the police. Showing support for what they currently are with a name that directly responds to an anti police brutality movement is support for the police brutality already part of the police force.
But I was not trying to bait you. If anything I got baited

Violence against police has been steadily dropping for decades.

Let me put it as explicitly as I can. I don't support all cops. I don't support police brutality. I only support good cops, which I believe make up the majority whom you never hear about because they do their jobs right.
but... why does that need to be stated? no shit, good cops are good... and?

"Fuck the police"

"But only the bad ones" -no one ever

The numbers don't lie. Violence against police is apparently on the decline, but to outright say that there's no anti-police sentiment anywhere in the US is a lie
