Personally I don't even make the connection. I just think "oh that guy's being fucked in the ass by some hacker, that's pretty funny". Not "oh my god he didn't consent, this is virtual rape". Like I said, it's a stupid animation.
There's different elements to it, though: 1. From what I'm understanding, you're completely without control. 2. You're forced against your will to partake in sexual acts. 3. This is all out of the blue and very unheard of for GTA. Yeah, that seems like enough to cause extreme panic in an individual because it has the elements of rape. It's not actual rape, but it doesn't take a lot to cause someone to have an episode. The authenticity of the act isn't the problem - the very concept of rape is enough to bring back all of the emotional troubles that are associated with rape.
Yes yes yes, let's promote rape culture!
Not having a fit over a shitty game mod = promoting ~rape culture~ I dont understand, but alrighty
it is terrible to allow rape in a video game
um hi excuse me this sweeping generalization is fucking horrible, you should be allowed to bring up any topic in any medium it (normally) goes without saying that games which handle the controversial subject well get some praise (or noted for handling it well) and ones that handle it terribly get shitcanned as they should be christ these threads are worse than israel/hamas threads, because at least you can understand the shitposters better than "permanently mentally insane"
Not having a fit over a shitty game mod = promoting ~rape culture~ I dont understand, but alrighty
I was referring to the person I quoted, saying that it was an "amazing mod" because it allowed you to rape people.
um hi excuse me this sweeping generalization is fucking horrible, you should be allowed to bring up any topic in any medium it (normally) goes without saying that games which handle the controversial subject well get some praise (or noted for handling it well) and ones that handle it terribly get shitcanned as they should be christ these threads are worse than israel/hamas threads, because at least you can understand the shitposters better than "permanently mentally insane"
Confused. Are you saying that allowing you to forcibly fuck people against their will is handling the controversial subject well?
Maybe I don't visit the non-gaming threads that often besides the occasional news story I comment on, but jesus christ you people really blew this into an out-of-proportion shitstorm. Mostly against eachother.
Confused. Are you saying that allowing you to forcibly fuck people against their will is handling the controversial subject well?
oh god no, I was only talking about that line in general, then ranted about people the mod itself is a little bit of black humor, "look hehe I can attach two models together and play animations, and I know the names of the fucking anims hehe" but it can literally happen to anyone out of the blue and there's literally no way to know how the other person is going to react, they might laugh it off or get sent into hysterics because it brought back all of the troubles now going further, gta v actually has those animations: they aren't custom made, they're actual R* man hour made anims. we gotta check the context of why are they there, so we ask how they are used. well, in SP there's a scene where Trev bangs a chick, and I haven't played it in a long while but the anims look to be the same as in the scene, and there's nowhere else that those are played. In said scene they're only used as part of a small plot point to introduce the audience to Trevor so this is really a case of modders taking an otherwise acceptable part of a mature rated game and turning it around to make something dirty because they can so who's to blame here? the modders, sure for doing it but also rockstar for not doing security validation/ checksums or what the fuck ever needed to stop people from joining/hosting with mods (sloppy method: since you're online require every joining player to have the same files as the host, if they don't match ggnore) all in all PH actually kinda does have a point but it's hidden deep in the dumbs and covered in feces but yes, rape is bad and it really could fuck with people to get humped by an old man's shriveled micro penis out of the blue, esp. if they have sexual assault or worse tramas. that's it (there are also other anims for use in a car but those were for white trash gay incest humor (fuck did i really just write that) or prostitutes and aren't used in the mod to my knowledge)

When I said it was terrible for rape to be in a video game, I only meant when it was glorifying it.
Yeah, because you've never been raped. I have a friend who has been raped and even something as little and stupid as this sends her into a crying fit of remembering what was done to her. There's a reason its called a trigger. But tumblr-tards have made into the same meaning as "offended" so now it's lost all its meaning.
[del]Don't want to sound ass but this mod has 0% rape in it, a person made everyone play generic dance animation after teleporting everyone on the server at him. [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/lrUD49.gif[/t] Using these standards as rape mod every single admin mod in video games are rape mods because you can freeze people, teleport people, kick people, ban people and other stuff. This article did nothing more than make word rape being used towards to just doing things, if this just continues in future people will use word rape as synonymous to doing something, for example "I raped myself a dinner today". [/del] [editline]I can't do anything right[/editline] I just watched the video on OP's post and it didn't seem to be that rude at all but apparently there were more offensive content on the article itself which source wasn't on OP. My bad for not looking hard enough for the source.
So instead of arguing his post proper you're just going to throw out wild appeals to emotion that have nothing to do with anything. Never change milkandcooki.
if you'd like to teach me how i can argue against a hyperbolized joke post, one that basically mocks rape, i'd love to listen. it would've ended up how it always ends up when somebody makes a post like that: me making a big post about why comparing rape to murder is stupid as hell that the dude i'm replying to won't read.
This fucking thread, christ

Oh, I skipped through the video quickly so my bad then, also I guess that is what you might get when you join modified lobby, but then again you can't really choose that much what server you join because consoles have no idea of server browsers.
why would you watch only a small part of something and then act like you're an expert on the subject, claiming something doesn't exist in it [editline]10th August 2014[/editline] like a 3 second look in the source would have shown you pictures of the above as well
Yes yes yes, let's promote rape culture! Look it's a stupid mod don't get all pissed about it, but it is terrible to allow rape in a video game. Just as terrible as it is to say you got 'raped' in a video game when you are getting beaten. Just as terrible as it is to glorify rape, suicide, etc. We just don't pay attention to the shit we say. It isn't funny to glorify serious issues, and make phrases like "Get raped" or "Kill yourself fag" a part of our every day vocabulary. [editline]9th August 2014[/editline] ^
Rape culture isn't real, and even if it was, is this mod really promoting it, in a game that has theft and murder as well? It's a video game, the people playing it should be old enough to know that this is a video game, and that they probably shouldn't kill/rape/steal irl. It's absolutely idiotic to say that games don't cause violence, and then turn around and say they promote a rape culture.
I was sexually abused by a 9th grader in 4th grade. I don't get why people flip their shit over this, its just a hack for a game. It's called griefing, get over it. This doesn't "trigger" me at all. And if it does trigger you? Just disconnect if you get the hint that someone joined with that rape mod, or if you are out of luck and get e-raped by some asshole. Generally people should learn that if they have problems with stuff that "triggers" them they must learn to protect themselves from exposure to these sort of things. I don't watch horror movies and I stay away from obvious screamers because I am paranoid person to the point where my paranoia sometimes becomes mildly delusional, it's a bad idea for me to fuel my paranoia with some thriller or horror movie. And dogs have a tendency to get horribly murdered in various ways in horror movies. I have some trauma I haven't dealt with about losing a dog I loved very much. So yeah I don't watch horror movies or play horror games because fuck that. My brother has the same problems with war stuff, he was in Afghanistan four times and sure did come home with some mental scars and such, as far as I know he doesn't watch movies with anything about war or war crimes, he stays away. Why can't people who get uncomfortable with something do the same thing? Am I just being a dumbwit here or? Why the hell cant people just stay away from stuff that "triggers" their "PTSD" instead of actively seeking it out?
People are actually mad about this? Rape has been a thing on San Andreas Multiplayer servers for as long as I can remember, long before some mod for GTA V was even thought of, and I don't see a single soul complaining about that.

It wouldn't garner attention if it was about obscure content instead of a mainstream game.
I'm not in a good place in my life.
"I'm depressed your issue isn't an issue" Fuck off.
yeah kotaku is hardly the most coherent source out there, and it doesn't even hold a candle compared to sources like jim sterling or rock paper shotgun, but why even reply w/ "wow i bet she smells like cigarette butts and POO"
Both Jim and RPS are shit as well, and I said that about Patricia because I honestly believe she smells like a farm animal.
Both Jim and RPS are shit as well, and I said that about Patricia because I honestly believe she smells like a farm animal.
Honestly I don't even really know about any good game journalism websites, most are just by fuckwits with no journalism degrees writing clickbait. Though there's good stuff out there most likely. destructoid used to be pretty good imo.

I genuinely feel bad for people who can be triggered by something like that, while I don't want Rockstar to remove any sexual content from their future games, I don't want people to feel like that because someone exploited their animation system.
Come on, let's be honest with ourselves. Just because people on the internet think there's something super-hilarious about rape doesn't mean there's something wrong with the culture those people live in. That would be crazy! We should definitely not be mad at them for making an atmosphere hostile to women (read: anyone who isn't a piece of shit), that would be some real SJW bullshit. [editline]11th August 2014[/editline]
Man how can you guys turn this into a four page argument? This mod is fucking amazing.
So fucking epic, got lots of Lulz from this one.

I don't understand.
Some people just cannot seem to grasp that the best way to deal with online trolls is to just ignore/logout/disconnect/click the little X in the topright corner. If people are so sensitive that they can get upset in an online environment with complete strangers and not be able to deal with the situation, then they have serious issues and probably shouldn't be on the internet to begin with.
