• Crysis leak fails to result in mass downloads

This has nothing to do with the PC community at large (puppies, kittens, warm feelings) and most likely to with the fact it is an incomplete mostly broken build with shitty renderer settings. Sorry to say but that is the reason i didn't download it, if I'm being honest. I have never played crysis (the original) and i didn't really plan on playing the second, the only reason i didn't download this leak is because of the potential issues i would have had with running it. There. No i won't be pirating the full game (massive download) nor will i be buying it unless all my friends buy it (they are better judges of games than i am) Just thought i would add a little unbiased input here because understanding why events occur instead of chalking them up to falsehoods is favorable in my opinion.
I think there's more motivation to buy it even if you download the leak because the production quality is so high, it's basically like trying to cope with a half-assed version of the game. It's basically like pirating a leaked version of GTA IV that has textures missing and error shit, who wants that
Not really. It's all about the same in term of "danger" but there are many ways to not get caught at all, namely peerguardian and non-retardation. Also, some countries don't even care at a federal/state/provincial level
I'm just a bit paranoid :tinfoil:
To be honest, the one thing a buggy/unpolished beta is the most likely to accomplish is just disappointing me. Betas are unfinished and therefor almost always worse than the finished game, so regardless of whether someone chooses to pirate or buy it, doing so after the release will give a more enjoyable experience. I don't think people in general are opting out of downloading the leak out of respect for EA or Crytek.
delighting in their juicy booty
Uhhh what But I think this is a result of a lot of factors. It's not a stable pirated copy (at least compared to other games), it's a huge download (and with only 10,000 completed, there probably isn't enough seeds to support mass downloading), and, as the article stated, I think a lot of gamers respect Crytek and the work that they do. Certainly it's not because randoms are saying "YOU SHOULDN'T PIRATE THIS," though.
I doubt whether the number of downloads has anything to do with people respecting Crytek.
I don't get it. Is there gonna be official release on PC? or will it be canceled on pc and we have to play that leak shit?
Why would they cancel it when it's almost done? Why?
Most pirates Don't. Look at Demigod. But... This game is different. I think the PC community has realized that this could hurt one of the last PC-loving developers out there, and thus most WILL buy it. But this is only Crysis 2.
Maybe it's because Crysis 2 on Console looks much worse than Console 1 on PC. It's our baby and no XBURX LIEV PLAYURRRR can take that away from us.
not buying the xbox version but I'm just wondering if xbox players get any form of editor?
yep every pirate hates the videogame industry and wants to ruin it with there piracy. Im super poor but even Im not going to resort to pirating it. I bet they will lose more money off of used copies being sold then they would pirates.
What? I'm sorry, I can't decide if you're just really bad at sarcasm, or stupid for pulling a statement out of your ass.
They bitch and whine about people downloading the torrent, yet who leaked it? Probably someone at Crytek. They can complain by all means when they get their shit together.
Hah, I wouldn't bother myself with warezing the game The game looks awesome and the shitty leaked beta would only lower my expectations
just finished the crysis 1 demo aliens are you kidding me either way it was fun to throw barrels at toilet stalls and what not
Maybe it's because Crysis 2 on Console looks much worse than Console 1 on PC. It's our baby and no XBURX LIEV PLAYURRRR can take that away from us.
You done comparisons? The 360 version of Crysis 2 looks very good compared to the usual load of sub hd games that are on consoles nowadays, better than Crysis 1 on medium at least. Crytek don't owe you anything, they went multiplatform because it was a guaranteed method of selling more copies.
not buying the xbox version but I'm just wondering if xbox players get any form of editor?
They don't. No news on it and it's not in the menus. I haven't seen anything more on PS3 since those horrid screenshots ages ago, wonder is it improved much?
I would love to buy Bulletstorm and Crysis 2 but i don't have the money right now :( Time to save up.

"public BitTorrent trackers" This isn't the only way people could download it, so these numbers could be horribly wrong. Also that article it links to is crazy, how can someone blame pirates for something being leaked?
I'm half expecting Crytek to come out with something like "We were ment to do that, it was all apart of the awesome plan we have." ...maybe? :ohdear:
It probably will turn into a collectors item. When in doubt, blame piracy. Claim the end is nigh, and somehow still make millions in profit that year. Its never your fault but the fault of the bogeyman under your bed.
not buying the xbox version but I'm just wondering if xbox players get any form of editor?
Nope
when did this leak happen lol i guess this article guilted me into buying the game now
It's a good sign when gamers have enough respect for the game creators to wait and buy it when the final game is released.
Indeed. Still, we have yet to see what happens when the final game gets out there. However, that does not bother me since I'll be enjoying a legal copy. :buddy:
From what I've heard it's a bitch to get working 100% in DX11 mode, effort required is not worth payoff. I'll be waiting out the coming month and a half for the official release.
When I heard it was leaked, my first thought was to d/l it. But only for a split second! Crytek deserves much more respect than that. They are the last ones that believe in us, that's why I love them. :3:
Yeah, good thing people didn't download it that much! Since there's a limited supply of Crysis 2 copies on this planet and all. You know, supply and demand. That's why you got to pay for something you could potentially duplicate infinitely. Hahaha 2 people don't think that you can copy data.
Why is everyone complaining the file size? It's only ~ten gig, no? Anyhow, I'll give the leak a whirl, and if it's decent for a beta, I'll probably buy the full one off stea- wait I live in Australia and it will $100 - buy a steam cd-key from Russia.
I'm calling it now. When Crysis 2 is released, people are going to bitch about how X was better in the leaked beta, and how much worse retail is for changing it.

Here is a video of some guy playing the beta release: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxQzMifhNUU I'm kind of disappointed, it looks like a little bit of CoD rubbed off on it
