I've already pre-ordered it because despite sometimes having frustration with DA:O, I still loved it. The choice of hack and slash or strategy just makes it better. If I want to think about what I'm doing and get rewarded by a brilliant strategy then I'll go strategy wise, if I don't have much time or get really frustrated then I'll switch to hack and slash. I do find the graphics to be worse than origins but I'm sure they'll tighten it up closer to release.
Also, for Christ's sake. Fine. Mass Effect 2 could be considered an ACTION RPG, much like games like Diablo 2 or Titan Quest. Hence, it's much lighter on the actual role playing than it is with the action. Mass Effect 1 much more of an RPG in that it put the role playing in the spot light and the action in the bleachers. The Dragon Age series would more less be considered a traditional RPG much in the same vein as Baldur's Gate or Planescape Torment. [editline]18th December 2010[/editline] more or less*

Not saying that mass effect 2 wasn't good, but it went from this: to that. I felt like there wasn't much I could do to make my character unique and tailored to my playstyle.
I'm actually happy that Bioware found a way to merge both styles and the game looks great in my opinion.
I played Kotor 1 and 2, and completed both but quite frankly the only thing that stopped me from buying DA:O was the combat system. Kotor 1 and 2 were impossible at times, especially with the Nal hutta spaceship hijack mission in Kotor 2 and the last level start at Kotor 1.
KotOR II was not developed by BioWare.
Bioware has a knack of ruining their sequels by having them try to appeal to a more casual style. They need to learn their lesson.
KotOR II was not developed by BioWare.
Same engine/combat
Well ME2 worked out well, at least.
ME2 was way too streamlined
ME2 was way too streamlined
I think for ME2's purposes, streamlining was a good move. ME1 had cover-shooting mixed with standard BioWare-inventory management, and it just felt bogged down. You'd be doing some exciting shooting one moment, engaging in some interesting dialogue the next, and then... sifting threw piles of useless weapons and armor. It didn't really fit the atmosphere.
