Born in a time of homophobia or not, it's not excusable
He's had decades to learn to not be a homophobic PoS and saying "I grew up this way!" is a really shitty excuse.

if he was talking about how he didn't like black people, nobody should accept "i grew up that way!" as an excuse, same in this case
I don't think he's ashamed of it, I think the company's PR guy hit him on the head with a phone book until the deleted the tweet.
Words cannot describe how much I wish this was the literal truth. :v:
"wow what would our founding fathers think" they'd probably think that everyone involved in our system is a bunch of cunts
They'd be right, too. Everyone involved in our system is a bunch of cunts.
It's just his opinion.
He didn't say anything like: "OMG GAYS R SINNARS, OUR NATION IS FLOODED ON SIN. GOD KILL ALL THE GAYS!!", he just stated his opinion without offending no one.
If he's against something, let him be. The same way you have the right to support something without killing or offending, he has the right to be against.
I don't see how this was a homophobic tweet.

no one's saying he doesnt have the right to, but this tweet was definitely homophobic.
It's just his opinion.
This is such a bad excuse for bigotry. It's his opinion, whatever, my opinion is he's a homophobic knobhead who shouldn't tell people his opinion. But it's just my opinion so nobody can ever insult me about it.
Also we should lynch niggers (Opinion!!!)
lets reject all progress whatsoever because the founding fathers with their archaic views would disapprove
fuck better enslave the blacks again, founding fathers would roll in their graves seeing all these filthy slave people voting!
Here to remember people that not everyone that is against gay marriage also wants gays to die.
“Sad day for our nation; founding fathers would be ashamed of our gen. to abandon wisdom of the ages re: cornerstone of strong societies.”
I didn't see any word close to: Kill, Die or Lynch in that sentence nor could i catch anything in between the lines.

Your entire post is invalid.
I meant harmless opinions. "We should lynch n***ers" isn't a harmless statement.

It's still disgusting how they're responding to it, I doubt homosexual marriage is abandoning the wisdom of the ages or the cornerstone of strong societies. I'm not trying to start an argument btw I'm just giving my two cents on people who don't say " gays must die ".

Oh but saying that gay marriage is a negative thing is a harmless statement? It deprives gays of the rights enjoyed by everyone else.

Did you forget when Chick fil was funding organizations that oppose same-sex marriage? They donated millions and even had advertisements about it.
Did the Founding Fathers even have an opinion on gay marriage?
Seeing how they had to travel to the americas by ship I don't think you could call them exactly homophobic

His statement might be harmless, but he is saying that by "rewriting the family," we're going against the age old wisdom of our founding fathers which made our society strong. A gay family unit according to Fred Flintstone here, is going to weaken the traditionally straight family and dislodge our society from the strong ones. It might be harmless in the sense of violence, but it's controversial and the gateway to harmful statements.
i just think its absolutely bonkers that there are people constantly crying THE FOUNDING FATHERS DIDNT WANT THIS FOR SOCIETY when that shit was 200 years ago and doesn't apply today
you would have to be seriously retarded to think that 200 years of progress holds true to the original values laid forth for this nation, because it doesnt, and thats a GOOD THING
We should only allow what the founding fathers knew and approved of right?
Guess every gun that isn't a musket or w/e is banned now

Homophobia isn't harmless.
Especially if it comes out of the mouth of someone who lobbies against gay rights in various countries, including America.

how is it not homophobic to say that gay marriage is shameful and that gays getting equal rights is a sad day for the nation? you don't have to blatantly say 'kill all gays!' to be a homophobe and most homophobes don't say anything like that. also bear in mind that until recently the chick-fil-a president was donating money to organizations that fund anti-gay missions in africa which HAS led to gays being killed
Did the Founding Fathers even have an opinion on gay marriage?
gay marriage has been a big issue in the last decade or so i believe. to the founding fathers, gay marriage would have probably just been something unthinkable to most of them.
This entire Chick-Fil-A thing has been way too funny. I love it.
You know, "What would our founding fathers think?" is a poor argument but it's always depressing how every single thread that includes it has to degenerate into shitting all over the founding fathers.
To be fair, they are the guys who wrote that black people are 3/5ths the people that white people are and thought "Yeah, that makes sense"
Why does Chick-fil-A's PR team feel the need to involve themselves in such controversial issues? Do they want to scare customers away?
