US policeman 'draws gun' at Washington snowball fight
Washington has been hit by one of the biggest snowstorms in its history Police in the US are investigating a detective who appears to draw his gun during a mass snowball fight on the streets of Washington DC. Video taken at the scene shows people pelting a man with snowballs after his car, a Hummer, gets stuck in the snow.
The man - not in uniform at the time - then appears to pull out a gun while an angry crowd gathers and chants: "Don't bring a gun to a snowball fight."
DC police refused to comment, telling the BBC an investigation was under way.
At one point on the video - shown on YouTube - the man identifies himself as a "detective", but refuses to give his full name.
Then he proceeds to admit to pulling his gun.
"Yes I did because I got hit by snowballs," he tells angry residents who demand to know his badge number.
Images and video appear to show him exposing his gun briefly, always pointing towards the snow on the ground. Panicked residents shout, "He's got a gun," but others continue to lob snowballs his way. The confrontation, which took place on Saturday, ended only when other policemen were despatched to the scene, and managed to calm everyone down.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan police, Det Kenny Bryson, told the BBC on Sunday that he would not comment on the allegations and refused to identify the officer involved. Det Bryson said the department was looking into the allegations of misconduct but that there was "nothing further" to report.
Festive!
Police suck.
Thats a fucking cold hearted move.
What a fucking pussy.
The people who get mad about this are the same people who throw fits about getting hit in the face for pinching people on St. Patrick's day.
He draws a gun because he got hit by snowballs? What the hell kind of logic is that?

I suppose you just stand there and take it when some bitchy little gangsta kids start unleashing snowballs on you?
But seriously that was a poor decision by the officer.

You throw one back or you simply walk away, they're fucking snowballs. The first part of your post seems to be suggesting that you agree with the guy, and the second part of your post does the opposite. I guess that's a good way to keep people from disagreeing with you.

Hell, if they were a bunch of dumbfuck kids, he could probably have taken 'em in a snowball fight.
Definitely would have took this to the officer's face.

He was in his car when it happened. That's not just a dick maneuver, it's also REALLY GODDAMN DANGEROUS and ILLEGAL. If he was going any decent speed when people decided to do it he could have just spun out and caused some serious injuries. While the officer overreacted, the snowball fighters are largely at blame for having such reckless disregard for passersby.

Yeah, and the reporters in the video also say that they (the kids) were hitting passing cars with snowballs, maybe if the OP had information that overlapped a bit better it wouldn't be so goddamned vague. It's still obstructing traffic, as they're contributing to the problem of his vehicle being stuck. How would you feel if your car was stuck in a ditch on the side of the road, and someone decided to come up and start shoveling more dirt onto your car?

You're not going to pull a gun on someone for a violation like that. He wasn't responding to the snowballs being thrown at the other cars, he was responding to the snowballs being thrown at him. Also, I like that retaliatory dumb rating.
Regardless, he was an undercover.
That doesn't make him any less liable to enforcing the law.

Like I said, he overreacted to his own personal situation, but it's not like he wasn't entirely in the wrong. Getting hit in the face with one of those dense, half-iced snowballs can really ruin your day. The bystanders clearly knew he wasn't there to have fun and decided to mess with him anyway.

I don't want some kid who thinks he's top shit throwing things at me, no matter what they are. It's god damned annoying, but drawing a weapon? Not the appropriate response.
I'm surprised he didn't call a tactical nuke.

He wasn't hit in the face. He's also being investigated by his own department for his actions, so this really isn't a matter of personal opinion. He pulled his gun out without proper warrant. Not a single one of the snowball fight members were arrested, or even given a warning.

Sorry I only put up two reports from arguably the two biggest and most reliable sources of western news-media?
Anyway, snow doesn't mess your car up (it melts!) and is in most cases harmless. Also, hitting a car with a snowball does not make it more stuck... they weren't bringing spades and burying the car. And even then drawing a gun would be a bit of an overreaction.
And to clarify, it was people from the neighbourhood who had got together using twitter etc to organise a community snowball fight.
Snowball Fights: Serious Business.
We could say the detective made some red snow today. :smug:

Maybe he was kidding?
I don't remember seeing him in the video with his gun drawn, at all, you know how the public just love to jump on the Police Hating Bandwaggon

And this is hardly police hating, should keep in mind that police turned up to stop him, was just one guy with an attitude problem.
I love cops, but that one is a pig. Should be fired.

Yeah he definitely showed it off and had an attitude issue, but I never saw him draw it
US police = retarded.
The police in most european countries are good, and you rarely see them either.
fookin pigs
Not trying to defend a dumb policeman, but throwing snowballs at cars (or any unwilling participants for that matter) is a dick move in the first place. You wouldn't normally go around throwing stuff at random other people in the streets, presence of snow on the ground doesn't suddenly give clearance for everyone to hurl it on one another (not even if you post it on Twitter).
